somewhat agree, but it's all relative. relative to the average joe, he's definitely not lazy or he wouldn't have reached the NFL. relative to what Reggie Bush is doing, you could call him lazy. personally, I think the lazy label gets thrown around too much. If you put a player like that on the right team, with the right coach and the right energy and give him a QB that can consistently get him a catchable ball, he'll be motivated for you. see Randy Moss in New England. It's different than if he's just a bad person, that doesn't change. motivation can change with a new environment.
With 6 games into the season, I'd rather hold off and make a push for Mike Wallace in FA...... unless we could get Bowe w/o using a high pick and use the remaining of the season to conduct a trial run so to speak (as Disgustipate suggested).
This is pure speculation IMO .Ross has stated we are in the market for a high profile WR .The Chiefs are unhappy with Bowe and need a QB.Its my guess that Jason Cole is just connecting the dots....
In 2010 (15 TD year, Chiefs went 10-6), Bowe had just as many TD's caught in the 2nd QTR, as he had in the 4th. 8 of his TD's that year were when the Chiefs were ahead in the game.
Seems like any WR who isn't Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson in terms of work ethic gets labeled a diva or is lazy.
Oh yeah, he was a mid-season acquisition. Definitely wasn't a success short term and not much of one long term either.
Doesn't really matter. If you're interested in him longterm and you think you can get him cheaper now instead of waiting til the end of the season (may or may not be the case) then you do it.
so are you saying that if we waited to free agency and signed him then, there'd be a higher chance that he'd be a good player for us? The best WRs probably would fight being traded mid-season. they're going to force FA and then look for the huge $$. Also, most WRs aren't traded mid-season. So there's a very small sample size of "elite" WRs who are traded mid-season.
Well, I can't in terms of the short term of that same season. I cant. To do that is hard to do... But, I don't know what would differentiate trading for a WR midseason vs trading for a WR in the offseason in terms of the long term. And if you are trading for Bowe, it better be for the long term...
It's based on the overall quality/quantity of losses vs. gains in an off-season. So if the Chiefs let Bowe walk and he's signed to a huge contract and do little else in free agency, they could get a high as the end of the third. It's different if they sign a comparably expensive free agent, or sign more than they lost, etc.
Basically unless they plan on doing a big splash in free agency next year, they will probably get a third anyway if they let him walk. Assuming he is signed to a huge contract.
I gotta say.... It is a Burden being right all the time. Do you have any idea of what it's like to wake up every morning and know that my views on things are precisely correct?
Anyone who doesn't want Bowe is absolutely ridiculous and I've lost respect for their football opinions. If I have to watch Brian Hartline line up as our #1 receiver much longer I'll die from drowning in my own vomit. Bowe is very much worth a draft pick assuming it isn't a first rounder.
now Cole is saying that he hasn't actually heard we are in negotiations with KC, just that he was connecting the dots.... STill, would be interesting...
Even if Miami were to trade for Bowe you would still have to drown in your own vomit. The Dolphins don't have a plug and play offense where they can get a guy and have him be a starter in two weeks. I kind of find it hard to respect your football opinion because it isn't ridiculous to want Bowe. He has been a malcontent, and generally malcontents are malcontents no matter where they go. He is a talented wide receivers, however when he drops a big play I always hear Chief fans say, "There is Bowe being Bowe."
Then I say Ireland did something ballsy that didn't pan out, but kudos to him for not sitting on his hams and trying to get us a no. 1 receiver.
Look at Dwayne Bowe. Look at his numbers. Look at his "quarterbacks". Now look at his numbers, again. yes please.
I say we wait until we see what Gaffney/Hartline/Bess and Bush from the backfield produce, we might not feel so needy as Tannehill develops and maybe we still get Bowe on OUR terms, if we still feel we need him.
Sunshine, lollipops and Dwayne Bowe Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together, Brighter than a lucky penny, When you're near the rain cloud disappears, dear, And I feel so fine just to know that you are mine.
