Of course he's running differently. He's not 100%, and he now represents our offense's only playmaker amidst a group of WRs/TEs who are underperforming. He's pressed with trying to balance being both a possession back AND a scoring threat. I imagine that's not an easy gig for such a hardworking, competitive player..... but he certainly is not poorly dancing around and running like Chris Johnson to where he's hindering the offense the way CJ has been doing.
So now the blame goes to Sherman or Tannehill. Blanket statement. You should be blaming Jeff Ireland.
If it's true that he's running differently because he's not 100%, then why for the second week in a row did he not adjust his style to run with the goal of picking up just one yard when the situation dictated it?
If you're lacking in explosion, you should damned sure be trying to get to the line of scrimmage as quickly as possible when the goal is gaining just one yard and killing the clock. Why would you run around more in the backfield and make yourself ultimately need more explosion to get that one yard, if in fact you're suffering from a lack of explosion?
Get to the line ASAP so you can run into other people because there wasn't a single decent hole all game
When you're trying to kill the clock and need only one yard, yes, you get to the line ASAP, even if it means running into other people, because the last thing you want to do is take a loss. You run into people and try to move the pile for the one yard.
I hate to be "that guy" but I don't think you can point to one particular group, player, or reason for the anemic run game. Fact: Reggie Bush has been ineffective as of late. Some say that's because he's got a case of dancing behind the line of scrimmage. Others think that he's still a bit dinged up and that may be why he's avoiding contact. Fact: The offensive line, which was juggernaut-ish to begin the year, has definitely trended back down to earth over the last couple of weeks. Like Bush, there have been some whispers that maybe Jake Long isn't he player he was when he was drafted 5 years ago. At G Jerry is still very inconsistent and clearly a weak link. Fact: The early success of the running game means that teams have been keying on that early success in an attempt to take it away. I personally think that it's about 50% on the offensive line, 33% on Reggie, and another 17% on defensive keying and awareness. That said, I'm sure that it's something that the coaching staff will be looking at and reviewing. This is where losing a guy like Daniel Thomas hurts - he has a complimentary running style to Bush and should be punishing defenses and wearing them down. Unfortunately, Thomas has been both brittle and mediocre to start his NFL career, which doesn't bode well for him long-term.
The Rams have a dominant defensive front seven and the Dolphins couldn't open the holes needed to establish a running game. It really is as simple as that . What isn't so simple is where the heck was Hartline today? He had zero catches and he wasn't able to get clear from the CB of the Rams. A few weeks ago after his big game against the Cardinals, the Dolphins were said to be in contract discussions with him. He was probably expecting a huge increase in his salary based on that game. After the last two games, and especially today, hopefully the Dolphins have lowered their offer. Hartline is a decent receiver in the NFL, but he certainly isn't worth a huge contract. To me Bess is the best and most dependable WR on this team. Hartline is a hit and miss receiver who shows up for a few games each year and disappears in other games.
Respectfully, did you also create a thread about demoting Hartline after catching just 4 passes for 58 yards the past 2 weeks considering that's significantly more concerning?
What, you figure if you start the sentence with "respectfully," I won't notice that you changed the topic completely and didn't attempt to answer my question?
No, I'm simply trying to understand your motive behind persecuting Reggie while turning a blind eye to Hartline considering Brian's lack of production has been a greater concern the past 2 weeks. It makes it seem as though your view is slanted. If you're concerned about an offensive skill position starter underperforming as of late, then why didn't you start with Hartline?
I didn't realize you were awarded the ThePhins' gavel. You've addressed what? Hartline's donut today? I apologize if I missed it.
That was shou's response to me when I called him on who should be our RB. jsizzle was just reposting how unclassy the OP was being.
My issue is why make a thread with a question in the title when your mind is already set on an outcome of the debate. Next time start a thread titled "Reggie Bush Sucks Lately" if that is your intent. Don't ask a question and refuse possible answers.
Oh come on. Do you really think I was asking a question and waiting for answers? What, do I seem like some sheep that needs your all's guidance?
I'm pretty sure I brought it up after the Raiders game, actually. There have been no-win situations for Bush, but that's not the whole of the issue, and it's ignoring him making those situations worse. He's ignoring or not seeing cutback lanes, and instead just racing as fast as possible to the front-side of a play when it isn't there, or reversing field completely hoping to avoid containment.
