Yeah I saw the report yesterday that Gaffney is working with the 1's and figured they'll unleash him this week. They essentially had to go 2-WR for most of the game this week (which doesn't fit Mike Sherman's inclination) because they weren't comfortable putting Gaffney out there. They don't like Marlon Moore that much nor Anthony Armstrong until he gets more comfortable and starts playing better.

With Gaffney in this week you'll see more 3-WR personnel and that means less Charles Clay, Jeron Mastrud and Jorvorskie Lane.

Hard to say if that will be a good or bad thing as going 3-WR puts a pretty good football player in Bradley Fletcher out on the field. But perhaps the Dolphins think they'll have a run advantage going 3-WR, which takes Rocky McIntosh off the field. That would be a curious decision since Rocky McIntosh really isn't a good run stopper. But they've got a 6'6" and 355 lbs behemoth out of Cincinnati by the name of Kellen Heard that is highly unlikely to be on the field if we're in a 3-WR formation, and it's probably easier to run the ball if that guy's not out there...he looks like a monster at times.

 

Omar has gone from defending and supporting the worst players in our team, to weekly thrashing and demeaning our rookie QB. Omar is such a hateful creature.

 

He is at church right now praying that Gaffney fails and that Naanne fulfills his prophecy to be the poor man's Brandon Marshall.

The guy has half the talent and a quarter of the brainpower than any of the gurus here have around football. How he is employed by a major newspaper was initially mind boggling until I realized that the Tribune Company filed for bankruptcy protection and has a hopeless business model.

 

Dave Hyde just gave a playful jab at Omar. He was tweeting his plan for the Dolphins' free agency in terms of who to sign/re-sign. He said something like "My plan on who to re-sign. Omar disagrees (sign Legedu?)."

 

Yeah I saw where we had 29 plays with the 2 WR set and somewhere between 9-13 plays on 3 other sets. When I saw that I was thinking about how much that will change when Gaffney starts playing. Its time to open up a can of whipass on some Rams! Its a good thing Rams can't swim. lol

 

I was thinking about removing him from my twitter account as well. I don't know why I followed him in the first place with all the bad things I've heard about him my in this forum. I always prefer to learn the hard way I guess. lol

I saw someone put it pretty well on a comment for a recent FinsNation post. The FinsNation writer also alluded to it. Guys like Skip Bayless know they're trolls. And because of that, they do it a certain way.

When Omar goes on disagreeing with the fans, he's always resorting to the excuse that you fans don't know jack **** about football and I do. You all only hate Legedu Naanee because you're fans and don't know ****, but I know football and Legedu Naanee is a good player. You all think QBs are important because you're fans and don't know ****. I know football and so I know that the trenches are important.

I don't care if Odrick is a 1st round pick or not. "There are no scholarships." Odrick was drafted for a previous regime with a different system. Letting go of the best DT in football right now is idiotic. Especially when he's young and just entering his prime. Let McDaniel go instead. Figure out a solution to RE (draft, FA, Vernon development) and add in Odrick to the rotation for DT and DE.

Although, how ironic would it be the a much maligned GM lets go one of his few big successes? It's just too rich not to happen, I think. We're the Dolphins afterall.

 

I disagree on it being idiotic. I think that's overly strong. If Jared Odrick were playing poorly at defensive tackle when he is asked to play that spot, I would perhaps agree with you on the lunacy of letting Starks walk. Odrick is playing poorly as a pass rusher at defensive end, but he's stopping the run from that spot very nicely, and when he's kicked inside to defensive tackle (both this year and last year) he performs very well. Not quite as good as Randy Starks, but it's above league average.

As for letting Tony McDaniel go, that's already happening. This is the last year on his contract and with Kheeston Randall performing well I don't think they will even approach him about a renewal. There's no money savings there. It's already baked into that $40 million figure (which is really only $34 million because you need $6 million to sign rookies).

 

Salary Cap league, he probably will price himself out of our market.

As for OMark, he loved Legedu, did not like Thigpen, one is still here one is walking the streets.

As for Gaffney, I'm glad to have him but think 3 receptions for 30 yds or so is nothing to get excited over.

 

I really enjoy how Omar talks about Tannehill's struggles when he has a few turnovers, but then he has a good game and all of the sudden I'm not talking QB. He's like a 8 year old.

Then the Dolphins get "the kill" as he likes to call it and somebody asks him about it, and he say's I'm not talking about it since I people get all over me about it.

The guy is a..... tool.

 

As I have said all season, the way Starks is playing, if you intend to let him walk you HAVE to consider trading him for value NOW and letting Odrick play inside. Starks could easily help us net a solid starting CB, WR or high pick.

Starks plus a 3rd to a playoff-contender who's struggling against the run and lacks interior pass rush pressure in return for their 1st or a starting WR/CB.

BUT if you plan to re-sign him, I'd start on that now. If they let him get into the open market for a bidding war, Miami will lose.

 

Which is why I'd like to see Randall get more than 7 snaps in a game, since he will be playing a lot next year, imo. He needs the experience.

I'd gladly trade McDaniel now for a mid-round pick or depth CB.

Disagree, no need to weaken your strongest unit, if McD walks he walks, meanwhile we rent him for this yr.

 

I don't think they'll be in trouble in terms of resigning players. They don't seem keen on the idea of signing FAs to large deals. They signed Richard Marshall but you get the sense that they want to have veterans at some point. Starks is very well liked.

While im not open to the idea of letting starks go, let me ask a hypothetical question.

Starks gets traded. Odrick moves inside. Who plays outside? Do we let vernon start?

To me, we weaken the whole line and defense making Starks available. Were literally one very good lash rusher away from creating having every snap. Maybe that PR turns out to be vernon, maybe not. But to rip up the best unit on the team, and potentially best in the nfl, im not ok with that.

I agree with whoever said to use our 60 mill on guys in house. Id rather save Jake Long's money for a WE, and use the rest to take care of our guys. This system is still 5 weeks old. Year two should spawn even better results.

 

I just unfollowed Omar and it felt great to see his followers go down by one. LOL

 

Starks has probably been the best player on the team this year, so trading him or letting him walk probably isn't a wise idea. The DL is the strength of the team. I think Odrick could do really well as the 3-technique, but we already have the best in the game so why not keep him? Odrick is still adjusting to being a 4-3 DE. Who's to say he won't continue to progress and become more productive from that spot as time goes on?

I would be more willing to let Jake go after the season than Starks. His play is actually slipping and not ascending, and he will cost the most of anyone to keep around. But the guy I'd be most willing to let go would be Reggie Bush just because I don't believe in giving huge deals to running backs and it's easier to find them on the cheap. We need to keep Sean Smith, Starks, Hartline (unless someone makes an outrageous offer), keep Bush only for a reasonable price, and let Long test the market and see if someone gives him what he's going to ask for. If they do, then move Martin over to the left side and get in the market for a right tackle.
