My dear friends: At 3:30 this morning my wife's Mom finally passed away after battling cancer for three years. She was 91. I would appreciate your prayers and best wishes for my wife and her family.

And while you are at it; many of your remember the struggle and death of my first wife, Karen, to cancer. Her parents, also both 91, are rapidly going downhill at their home in Florida. My daughter is going to visit her grandparents this coming week. Your prayers for strength in their bodies and peace in their spirits would be greatly appreciated. I fear they are not going to be given a quiet end but a difficult, painful struggle. Your prayers on this front would also be appreciated.

I know not everyone on this forum is a believer in prayer but I would hope your thoughts and best wishes would be with all the aspects of my marriage families.

Thank you my friends for your kind remarks. The visitation for Sue's Mom is today and the funeral tomorrow. We had to wait an extra day in order to get Sue's brother back from New Zeeland where he was on business.

My daughter found her grandparents in Florida to be very weak. She and her Aunt are exploring Assisted living sites for them. They need more care than they can get at home and their home is not designed for twopeople in walkers and all that entails.

Keith, if you can find (and afford) a good elder attorney in FL they can help a lot about finding resources and places for you In-laws. We had to do that with my Aunt (81) who has now been diagnosed with Alzheimers. Fortunately, we tied in with a good elder attorney who helped with such things as Medicare and such..

In the meantime, know that God is with you, in a way even we who are Pastors have a difficult time comprehending (and accepting), and your steps will be eased with his support.

    Grace and Peace

Thanks, Rick. We have good council there as well as some good senior advocates. Thankfully my former father-in-law is still capable of making informed decisions. He has agreed to move into a highly regarded assisted living facility within the next couple of weeks. It looks like a good call. My daughter and her aunts and uncle are working closely (though one aunt , the baby of the family is a selfish , immature idiot, but I digress!) in order to protect the folks and get them high quality care. They have the financial resources to be very, very well cared for.
