That's insulting to Yatil Green sir. I always felt badly for him. He had no knee injuries in college. Then he comes to the Dolphins and his ligaments come apart like wet spaghetti. Very sad.
Im really excited about this. Not just because Naanee is gone, but because I think Gaffney is a good pickup too.
Where did you read that Al? Good to hear if so. Who wouldn't rather play in Sou Fla in a Mike Sherman offense, than play in Joisey in a Sparano offense?
His hands are exceptional IMO. He isn't fast, probably not much faster than Bess if any, but he has a compact running style for his size and runs good crisp routes. JMO.
The thing I'm afraid of is too much expectation on Gaffney as he's only JUST getting here and clearly it's taking Armstrong some time to get the right chemistry in this offense and with this quarterback. But then Gaffney is a real pro and has good solid hands, so you wouldn't be shocked if he comes out guns blazing right away as well. Either way Legedu Naanee should not have made final cuts and they should have been playing Rishard Matthews these first four games, until Gaffney was healthy. And even then you only end up signing Gaffney if it's clear Matthews isn't ready. That much is clear.
I'd personally prefer seeing Matthews play, but we so badly needed a #3 Wr who could do more then cover kickoffs.
AdamHBeasley profile AdamHBeasley Just spoke with Gaffney. Said he wasn't healthy enough to play when he worked out with the Dolphins earlier. Yeah yeah yeah Naanee SUCKED. Couldn't catch crap. Not sure about Gaffney but anything is better than Naanee.. NOW get rid of Egnew and find a decent TE.. CAL
The sobering thing here is that the guy is still not quite healthy and so an immediate impact may not be the thing to look for from him. I'm hoping Rishard Matthews gets a shot in the mean time.
I have a very strong feeling that Matthews will be very productive when he gets the chance. I'm puzzled that they seem to lack confidence in him.
finsjesse Up next, we hear from the newest Dolphin, WR Jabar Gaffney. 940AM to listen or watch at Dolphins.com
The good news is that Naanee was finally cut .The bad news is that the Dolphins have to fork out a 700,000 dollar guaranteed contract which adds to the growing dead cap balance sheet. That was a horrible signing but it is not the first time such a WR mistake was made by the Ireland - Parcells regime. Ernest Wilford signed with the Dolphins on February 29, 2008. The deal was worth $13 million over four years, and included a $6 million signing bonus. He appeared in seven games for the Dolphins in 2008 (starting none) and caught just three passes for 25 yards.
I think most Dolphin fans understand that Gaffney isn't going to come in and be an instant success with the team. He needs to learn the offense and he has not played at all since the preseason. In fact it would not surprise me if he is on the inactive list this week and Matthews is given an opportunity against the Bengals. The one thing I can almost guarantee, if Gaffney stays healthy. He will have more than one catch after his first four games on the active roster.
I just can't see how it could have gotten worse with any of the other WR's from off the bench replacing Nanee. 1 catch, 19 yds, and a fumble on that catch? In 4 games? Heck, go with two TE's and split Clay into the slot if you don't like the way the other WR's are doing - until Gaffney is at full speed in the offense and physically. It's pretty amazing how Gaffney played with Brady & the Pats and was mediocre but the last three seasons he has excelled and they have been his best (with Denver and the Skins) and last year was clearly his best year ever. Seems he really gets it. Hopefully he will fit in with the offense, stay healthy and become a very solid target for RT the last half of the season.

I mentioned Gaffney's very good low drop rate, PFF did a three year evaluation this offseason, http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/07/02/three-years-of-drop-rate-wide-receivers/ Gaffney's 5.08% on balls deemed catchable was good for 7th best. As a quick comparison, Brandon Marshall had a drop rate of 11.55%.
A good coach/Gm relationship is what you want, you want messages to come from the front lines, Gm executes coaches request..pretty standard.
947 yards and 5 TDs last year. Coming off an injury he won't do that, but could be good for us in the red zone. Why did the Redskins get rid of him?
I am hearing the Jets may have interest in Naanee!!! OMG that would be the cherry on top of the sundae!!
The same sucky player that got almost 1000 yards last year with 5 TD's? Yeah, he sucks. Should have kept the over achieving Naanee.
Omar Kelly needs an explanation!!! I thought that last weekends catch-umble was the last strw that this coaching staff would take
