Don't ask me for objective proof. I have none. But there is no doubt in my mind that this kid is going to develop into a very good QB who's going to lead us to a bunch of wins.

He really needs some WRs including a big one that can go up, fight for the ball, and create easy yardage for him. Heck if Armstrong catches those two balls that were thrown perfectly at him it's a different ball game and we're looking at a 260 2 TD 1 INT day. I've never been big on the WR position as an important part of a team's success but I do think that if you're highly in the red at that spot you're at a major disadvantage.

I wouldn't called it emotional imaturity I would called impatience.1 playoff apperance in the last 10 years will do that to you.
As for tanny Its way to early to tell but we were all including yourself hoping for a robert griffin like start even though he is 1-2 also. But as we all know most qbs take a few years to acclimate to the speed of the nfl.So no need to be alarmed after 3 games.

    He's getting there.

    The good -
    Poise and pocket awareness
Good pre-snap reads and makes adjustments
Reads field well and quickly. Gets rid of ball quick.
Accurate short to mid range ball
    Live arm
Can get defense to jump offsides.
    Atheletic

    Not so good -
Tips - OL helping out now though and he's finding throwing lanes
Would like to see him go through to 3rd option more often. Goes to 1st and 2nd too much.
Like to see better accuracy on deep throws.
Needs game to slow down a little for him.
Needs to take true command of players and show leadership (in the future of course)
Supporting cast need to step up.

This is a good point as well. If Blaine Gabbert can look like a half decent QB, than anyone can.

I was afraid if Tannehill started too soon the expectations would be too high. I feel like he can grow into the position if given the time and patience. He will need a good primary receiver and a good clutch tight end in order to achieve the most from his abilities and to meet or exceed expectations. Ryan Tannehill will never be a Dan Marino but he can be the next best thing.

Ponder has actually emerged over the three games this season as the top quarterback from that group of Newton, Gabbert, Locker, and Dalton. Christian Ponder has played excellent football this season. He has a 104.9 rating through three games with a 70% completion percentage and 6.8 NY/A. From an advanced statistical standpoint, Ponder is 3rd in the NFL in win probability added and 5th in expected points added.

If anything, you better hope he is a Christian Ponder type. Like Tannehill this year, Ponder had a mixed bag of a rookie season. He showed some flashes, but he wasn't quite ready for the speed of the game. What Miami is doing with Tannehill and what Minnesota did with Ponder is very different than what Carolina did with Cam Newton and what Washington has done with RGIII. I think those two staffs can be commended for abadoning traditional NFL thought and putting in aspects of the college offenses those two ran. However, in Cam's case, you can tell that the NFL has gotten used to him and have adjusted to shut him down. He has yet to make the adjustment to NFL defenses though. RGIII is still productive, but his last two games haven't been as good as his first game. You have to think that at some point in time, he's going to have to start doing things that NFL quarterbacks typically do.

With Tannehill and Ponder, and Dalton as well last year, their coaches have put a lot on them. They aren't giving them mirror routes and and easy reads. With Tannehill especially, he has a lot of responsibility presnap....I'd venture to say that he and Andrew Luck do more presnap than any other rookie quarterback with the possible exception of Russell Wilson. The biggest part of RGIII's reads are post snap where they have built in packaged plays where RGIII reads one player and decides who will get the ball.

This is one of the biggest myths in football. Quarterback's do not need primary receivers to be good, and team's do not need primary receivers to win. Is it better to have good receivers than bad receivers? Yes, but you don't have to have this alpha dog receiver that so many of you are infatuated with. Who is the alpha dog receiver in Green Bay? One was targeted about 107 times last year, one 103 times, and the tight end was targeted about 90 times.

Terrible, horrible, gruesomely bad example. Green Bay has STUD WRs, have you heard of Greg Jennings? Donald Driver? Jordy Nelson? All of them would be our #1.

Its way to early to tell. Its been 3 games. We've seen good, we've seen bad. Cant believe this is really a discussion at this point. Takes longer than one season, especially with a guy with limited experience like Tannehill has. Lets not forget how few starts he had in college too.

Just be patient... everyone. Theres going to be more good plays, theres going to be more bad plays. It is what it is.

I think Greg Jennings is there for the taking. I don't see any way the Packers can resign or franchise him. I'd be all in for a Davis for Jennings trade.

It looks like their taking baby steps with him, kinda like what Carroll is doing with Wilson..

He's gotta good running game, he's gettin decent time in the pocket, I wanna see him relax in the pocket, allow his vision to open up, I think he's channeled in to much on the pass and not playing ball..rookie struggles til this point..revisit next game.

I have no idea what I just read. Greg Jennings? Alpha WR. Jordy Nelson? Alpha WR. Jermichael Finley? Stud TE. Just a laughable example to try and make a point. We don't have anything that even remotely resembles those guys. Hell we don't have anybody that even resembles Donald Driver.

And take Aaron Rodgers away from them? They are just good wide receivers, clearly not on the level of Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, or Larry Fitzgerald. None were drafted in the first round. None ***** and moan about not having every pass thrown their way.

Jennings and Nelson put up great numbers because they have the best quarterback in the NFL throwing the ball to them.

This question makes my head hurt...Here have been my reactions towards Tannehill so far.

I call this one the WTF are you doing reaction...Similar to the one I give my 12 year old son
    [IMG]

I look like this every time we face a third and long.....Especially in our own territory
    [IMG]

When Tannehill took us down the field to tie the game and made that play to Hartline
    [IMG]

When it looks as though Tannehill may be the worst QB out of the four rookies starting right now..

How I feel sometimes as a Dolphin fan watching these QB's for the last 13 years
    [IMG]

It's going to take more than a couple of lucky throws and bailouts by the refs to make me a believer in Tannehill. This "game manager" crap isn't going to get it either. If we wanted a game manager we wouldn't have needed to draft him at 8. He did lead us down the field twice against the Jets and put us in position to win but I still have yet to see that "it" factor people talk about. Call me crazy but you may hear me screaming for Pat Devlin to get his shot if Tannehill can't quit throwing these gut wretching, soul sucking interceptions. I mean these aren't just picks that make you go "oh damn"...They are picks that cause me puke granite and spew jagged matter across my living room exorcist style.

Could very well be. As Trowa pointed out, the emotions of the local fanbase (or at least as I remember it when I lived down there) could swing faster than a wind vane in a tornado! We were spoiled with 10 years of superb play from Marino, then another seven of very good declining to injured. Then we had a series of QBs/Coaches/offensive styles that acted like a revolving door on spin cycle for another 10 years (roughly!). I am impressed with the poise, the arm, and the (as Sec put it) eyeball test. The look in his eyes is not that of one overwhelmed with the stage upon which he is playing or the intensity of the game. I have not seen THAT sense Marino. Call it the much overly cliched 'eye of the tiger' or even the 'fire in the belly,' but this young man seems to have something which makes me feel he is more likely to succeed than fail. It is much to early to be certain, but... I like what I see so far most notably in the adverse conditions he has endured to this point.

OMG!!! I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE THIS CONVERSATION IS OUT THERE ALREADY!!! Seriously... are the Dolphins fans this in need of drama??? WAY too early to be having this conversation. At least wait until half a season is under his belt! GOOD GRIEF! OF COURSE he is going to have ups and downs... he is a rookie! Does anyone recall watching that rookie season of Peyton Manning? It was pretty bad. I think even judging him on this season would be premature.

people are pointing at the stats... but honestly this is one situation where hes looked much better than his stats to me...

I thought he played well last game, though his numbers were atrocious... his pocket awareness seems to be improving, the situation is never too big for him, he's making the right decisions...

i'm higher on him now than i was pre-draft or even pre-season...

I think the Jets D is a good one against the pass, to Sherman was calling a bad game and it got worst in the second half when Reggie went down.
The kid is playing well and we should be 2-1, you can't blame him for this loss.
This guy is way better than Henne and he's only played 22 games in his career.
