I think this team has a good core of players. The defensive front 7 are as good as anyone and the offensive line is above average. We seem to have a good Qb and a good stable of RBs but In a passing league the weaknesses are at Wr and Db. Go figure So this team could be on the verge of being good but not just yet!
which is exactly what I was eluding to. We have several of the pieces. Now we need some play makers at receiver and a pass rush. Give us that and we will be exponentially harder to beat. It's a direction. Something that we can clearly see. Haven't had that in a while. It is good to see. Proof Philbin is righting the ship. We lost and it sucks but most of us agreed we would not be very good this year. We have to be patient.
good football teams don't have a secondary like ours. we looked overmatched at all times against a pretty poor NYJ team that was missing one of the 2 receiving threats that they have. i mean, the only competent DB that we have (Sean Smith) seemed to get beaten deep on numerous occasions but we got let off the hook because sanchez is horrible. outside of Hartline and Bess we have no WRs at all. i mean, how much must Hogan have sucked to be worse than Armstrong? i did enjoy seeing Clyde Gates not make a play on the ball to result in our 1st INT though.
Personally, I'm not worried much on defense as the offense right now. The team's only offensive weapon is Reggie Bush. Throughout this game, the Dolphins couldn't get an easy pass, either with Bush or no Bush, Revis or no Revis. Just rely on luck. The defense can make some stops. With a reliable receiver, the team is able to make plays and produce points, touchdown or field goals.
We are far more competitive at this point than I thought we'd be. That said, we are still a year or 2 away from the playoffs.
I hear you. We have a big issues with Ireland. I don't think the team will turn the corner with him. I was simply putting together a scenario in which everyone goes perfect.
No, no we're not. The Jets are not a good football team. Hanging with them for 4 hours is a terrible way to say we're a good football team. Moral victories are clown shoes. Until we get a QB, we're not going to compete for anything. Tannehill isn't that guy. I thought it was pretty clear before the draft he was at best going to be a game manager at the next level, never a franchise QB. And Jeff Ireland is still our GM. That's a joke to everyone else, but a sad reality for us.
Did you watch the game. How about last week? We could be easily 2-1 and sitting on top of the division. This one's nailed in Carpenters locker....period.
Some have said it already. The problem is that we haven't improved on what has been good with this team for years. We've been physical for a while. We need playmakers, both on defense and offense. We aren't a good team. We are good enough to compete. Even yhe 0-3 teams are competitive though. What is it that puts teams ahead of us? That is what Jeff Ireland has been unable to find.
I tried to have a positive thread instead of the 500 negative thread that we will see on this site this week. Whatever guys....have at it. I'm out....................
Come on man! You cannot be serious about RT? Not one of us can possible know at this point! Not even his coach....
Did you watch the game? You are blaming Ireland. This might be the most ridiculous reason for losing a football game ever. Obviously you were shopping at Wal Mart or something today. I've seen mistakes in posting but come on. I sat through four and a half hours of sweat, blood and pain and that was in my living room. My voice is cashed and I'm hammered and totally spent and you are blaming Jeff Ireland. Is it at all possible to fire a bad fan?
I think you should follow a different team then, cause guess what Tannehill isn't going anywhere for a while.
Lmao at this forum! Some of the knee jerk posts I read here are so hilarious! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hung with the jets? That's a good thing? We lost to a bad team at home. We are paper thin on talent. 2 non playoff teams played a marathon of a hideous game, both with their best players getting hurt. This game, like us and the jets are ugly. We're not the worst team in the league, but we are not good. Good teams win at home vs bad teams. Good teams goto the playoffs. Sent from my iPhone
I agree we are proving we are not a push over these analyst thought we are going to be at the beginning of the season. I say we got three glaring needs (WR, CB, K) but atleast we have a fairly respectable team.
No, we are not. Good teams are Good in all three aspects of the game, plus have good coaching: D: Only area that rated good today, and still gave up too many big plays to a non explosive offense and lacked passrush. O: Below average. ST: Bad. Cost this game even without the 2 blown FGS. Had 3 or 4 illegal blocks on returns, killing field position, including before pick 6, IIRC. Coaching: Really questionable on the "winning" drive. Why not run to get it closer? Why did we not see Miller more?
You can almost predict what certain people here are going to say after this game based on what they were saying coming in. It's amazing how people see confirmation of what they already believe no matter what happens.
The only consolation from this game is that they fu&$ed up so many times, it's on them.coaches and players
Or what happens in the game confirms what people have been saying and it gets dismissed by people saying what you just said
OK lol... Not sure sure what I said had anything to do with what you said. I'm talking about what it will take to get Miami to the next level, namely playmakers. You're talking about today. I'm not blaming Jeff Ireland for today loss. WTF? Team played hard today. No ****, genius... Still lost to a terrible team. Still have major problems with a lack of play makers at skill positions. Go cheerlead to someone who gives a ****. I have none for you.
We are not a good team and we still have the same problem we've had for 12 years, our passing game sucks and we have no quarterback. Tannehill may turn out to be good but he's not right now.
Today was just an awful loss. The Jets have more talent but they played awful football on the road and still managed to win. If they were playing a better team they would have got smoked out of the building. We're mediocre at best. Maybe close to good thanks to the run defense/offense, but not quite there yet. I don't know what to think of the Dolphins right now. They travel west to Arizona to take on a very good Cardinals team. I expect a loss but putting up a fight and making it close would maybe support the team being "good", but right now I feel they're not terrible but not good either.
Not sure what has to change to get better, but I dont think GOOD teams beat themselves. This season has a long way to go for signs that we are better then that. Just not today.
Yes. I am serious. I was shocked that people actually seen this guy as a top 10 pick. He's done nothing to show any different.
That's fine. Maybe he'll be a good backup for us after we spend another top 5 pick on a QB. Or we find an actual GM that can put talent on a team and he can be am Alex Smith game manager for us. Ryan Tannehill will never be a franchise QB. That doesn't mean you can't win with him. But he'll never be a QB capable of taking games over on his own. We already had that chance and we blew it for a Tackle.
Definitely agree, we need playmakers. But we were still two FGs away from beating a playoff caliber team.
The Jets are not a good team. Beating them by a FG would not have all of a sudden changed the dynamics of this team. We still would of been exactly what we are now, and what everyone but homers knew we were before the season. Mediocre. Still.
Tannehill missed critical throws at the end of regulation and in overtime. His deep ball accuracy was awful today and it was a knock on him in college.
Who's cheerleading? LOL. Just the daily Ireland should be blamed for everything including a tough loss is old and worn out. I doubt you watched the game and lived and died by it today or your comments would be different. Not once did that cross my mind because I was balls deep in an epic battle. Sorry but it came off as a whiny post from you.
What does that have to do with him not being worth a top 10 pick in the first place based on college? Tannehill was never that good of a prospect. That's the point.
