Wow an extremely youthful team got beat by a team that went 10-3 last season and returned almost all of it's starters, and plays a complete gimmick style of offense. Why should any of us cry or be upset?

Al Golden has done a pretty nice job here so far and this team has a bright future. We are just fans enjoying our team.

Anyway this team just is not ready to play any zone defense. One play in particular stood out to me. The outside receiver ran a slant and the slot receiver ran an out route. I'm not sure if it was a linebacker or a nickle corner, but regardless, had perfect position covering the slant but the outside corner never read the play and never stepped up in his zone to take the out. The inside man jumped the out abandoning his position and giving up an easy slant for a big gain.

Our problems aren't massive, they are experience and a tiny bit schematic. This team has me excited for its future.

Don't give him too many pats on the back. It might leave a bruise! I don't care that he hates them! I like that he hates them but he is a troll until he mans up and gives people in here at least a chance to some get back...

Hey, take all the shots at my team you want. They certainly are well deserved. I already told anyone to tee off. Once again, since obviously you didn't read it once, NEBRASKA is my college team. I'll start, I've seen 5th graders with better fundamentals than that D last night.

You obviously care if you're going to not read what I've posted and let it sink in and then reply.

Ummm, are you and the yellow snowman the same person?? Because for the last page or so, it has been that poster where most are directing the troll label. I qouted your post because you chimmed in and said rooting interest has nothing to do with it!

And I gave you mine, since you're butthurt that your team got railed. Take your shots since I piled on. I already started. We can even talk Nebraska-Miami. How bout that '01 game where Miami absolutely curb stomped Nebraska and started a horrific downward spiral that we are trying to recover from. You said that taking shots at the troll's team will make it right, so make it right already or drive on.

Will someone talk to me please?

If losing to a ranked team makes us ****ty wonder what that makes Nebraska. No but seriously, we are ****ty. Oh well. At least I can laugh at Nebraska over 1984 and 2001.

That was 1992. Though we did beat you in the Orange Bowl in 89 pretty badly too. You did beat us in the 1995 Orange Bowl. Damn, never really realized how much Miami and Nebraska have faced off for the National Championship.

As if the defense wasn't young and inexperienced enough, starting 5th year senior LB Ramon Buchanon out for the year. And yet another starting 5th year senior in Safety Vaughn Telemaque is out for the next game at least. Though that might not be such a bad thing because the replacement can't be any worse than he's been. Who will the replacements be? True freshmen Deon Bush, Rayshawn Jenkins and Gabe Terry will be seeing more playing time as well as sophomores Armbrister and Gionni Paul. True Freshman Raphael Kirby is expected to return from injury in time for the GT game and he's going to get a lot of playing time and probably even start before too long in Buchanon's spot. It's only going to get worse before it gets better...

Was not able to watch the U / K State game but WTF?

    WTF happened out there?
If you had told me in the past that the Canes would someday be absolutely whipped like a yard dog by Kansas State I would have laughed my arse off.

Sadly that's where the program is.

K State's talent level cannot be that much greater.....
Is Al Golden getting out coached?

A 10-3 team from last season returning almost all it's starters on both sides of the ball ganged up on a young team filled with promising underclassmen. Also in my opinion after the offense squandered a couple chances to get back into the game the defense completely gave up. IMO

I get all that Alex.... still the degree of the arse whooping received equates to a lot more than growing pains of a young team IMO.

    If you want specifics...

K-State runs a gimmick run offense that presents a lot of difficulty for young players on the defensive side. Normally you're talking about reading run vs pass and having your guys react. Against KSU that read alone is very difficult to make, then you have to read WHO the carrier will be. Lots of options, fake end around plays, pitches, draws, QB draws, and so forth. We basically forced them to pick up 3-4-5 yards a play over lengthy drives. It was a lot like what we did with our quick passing against BC.

On top of that our defensive players have serious issues understanding zone coverage still. There was a lot of two defenders jumping the same route leaving one receiver wide open. For instance they ran their outside receiver on a slant in, with the slot running a quick out. Both defenders chose to take the out route and the slant man had no-one covering him.

There were a lot of mental errors I'd expect from a young team when you couple it with the offense they were playing. It was more of the same issues in the passing game we had against the BC offense. Bad understanding of zones. Then once the offense squandered their best chances to get back into the game, the defense felt defeated and just folded.

I dont expect them to be that bad all season, but I expect some poor games and mental lapses.

I'd say the team got completely outcoached. Snyder is one hell of a coach though. It also doesn't help that Kansas State is a very experienced team with 18 returning starters while we might be the least experienced team in the whole FBS. That probably had most to do with the loss. The defense made mistake after mistake after mistake. And of course, there's the holy son of Tim Tebow, to be known as Colin Klein.

Well Deon Bush is now starting over Rodgers and Highsmith will be starting due to Telemaque's injury. Highsmith did make a couple big hits on Saturday and I'm hoping that Bush is the real deal at safety. God knows we need a competent one.

Hurns is out for Saturday's game and Buchanon suffered another season ending injury (knee)....that's unfortunate, 2 years in a row.

Can you dispute my assertion that Golden got out coached by a guy who got coaxed out of retirement because Ron Prince destroyed his baby?

Take all the shots you want at Nebraska. I know they've seen better days. I know they can still see better days. Same as Miami.

Why do we have to take shots at each other

Miami and Nebraska have some past history but in my opinion there isn't anything recent enough to constitute bad blood.

I'm not taking any shots at your boys.
I just noticed you're in here joyfully taking shots at the Canes which I find odd.
Still animosity up in your parts towards the Hurricanes all these years removed from the meetings in the past?
I was dialing up a little corn humor to fire back thats all.

I didn't see the game but based on the comments from those that did it does sound like while the team is young they were also insufficiently prepared by Golden's staff as well.

I hold no ill will towards the Hurricanes, and quite honestly miss the Januaries of frustration. In fact, as a Nebraska fan, I feel I should actually thank Miami for clowning Nebraska all those years because it brought defensive scheme and recruiting changes that laid the foundation for one of the greatest college football runs anyone will more than likely ever see, and Alabama may destroy at the current pace. The one shot I took was one I shouldn't and that was the wanna be thug comment. Otherwise my comment about being out coached is spot on. The Grandpa Bill talk is more a shot at Snyder than anyone else. I've referred to him as that since he hung on too long before his first retirement and almost ran his team into the ground, a job that Ron Prince almost completed had he not been fired.

With that all said, back to on the field talk. Miami will be filthy once again when the youth gets some seasoning and the game comes to them. It is just a matter of time.

Morris needs to quit throwing the ball so high and away from the receivers. That should have been a td instead of a fg before halftime.

Side note, I haven't kept up with them. Does GT still run that gimmick option offense? If so expect a game a lot like Kansas State.

That's what they get for scheduling Bethune Cookman to open the season and letting the product get so sub-par, even if I think the future has great potential.
