I guess you are too young to appreciate that movie or know much about it, but IMO it is the greatest movie ever made. Apocalypse Now. There are two versions now. The original from the mid 70s and in the last 7 yrs or so they released it on DVD with all the scenes that had been cut out, added back in. They had to shorten it originally because it was too long for what theaters wanted. The latest version, the long one, is called Apocalypse Now Redux. If you feel like watching it, you may as well watch the Redux, because it is more true to the original screenplay.
Best part of that movie is the irony of how Robert Duvall's character (Kilgore) is just as (if not more) crazy as Marlon Brando's (Kurtz), but Kilgore is respected because he ultimately fits with the war effort, whereas Kurtz is hunted down and killed. The mission is to find Kurtz and kill him, but along the way Kilgore's insanity is experienced firsthand and simply bypassed without significant recognition. Why? Because he's still good at killing Gooks, whereas Kurtz is no longer operable in that regard. So Kurtz's brand of insanity -- which you could actually argue is more reasonable and expected than Kilgore's, given the situation -- receives a death sentence, while Kilgore's, despite the fact that it's potentially more harmful to his own troops, is overlooked. In the end I think you have to feel for Kurtz while you wonder how humanity can create situations in which people like him are killed while people like Kilgore are respected.
Kurtz was still fighting. He was just doing it his own way, operating as a rogue force with his small private army, not being part of the team.
Kurtz's brand of war was endangering a group of Cambodian natives no more than anyone would typically be endangered in war, whereas Kilgore was endangering his own American troops far more than they should've been. The former's insanity gets a death sentence, while the latter's insanity is overlooked. Willard bypasses Kilgore and continues the hunt for Kurtz. Amazing.
Back to the question , well seeing as we are hours from having a less than 1% chance ever happen , I suppose Miami can win this game , I would not put the number that low , but it would be a hugely significant upset and sure as hell hope it happens. Won't be upset nor surprised it doesn't of course , but show us some signs , unwrap some surprises please!
Of course Willard bypassed Kilgore, (other than stealing his surfboard). He was just following orders.
Right, but that's the disgrace of it, that "orders" can result in such a thing. The guys running the concentration camps were following orders too. What it reflects IMO is that humanity can devolve to such levels.
Well its 3-0 Dolphins, so they already exceeded some "experts" expectations (who said they'd score 0) no matter what happens haha.
Prediction Actual 30-10 ... sad to say that prior to the last few minutes of the 2nd quarter ... I was happily feeling I was going to be dead wrong
Great to see that 74.72% voted for the Dolphins to lose on this site. You know there wasn't any money involved, right? Also shows that you have no faith in your team. That's a shame, tbh. Be a fan no matter what. This is a friggin' poll.Never root for your team to lose.
Oh please. I'm not going to be delusional and end up disappointed week after week. I rather set the bar low weekly as I won't have health problems like seasons before.
