Couldn't believe nobody posted this spot on article, IMO... http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/09/02/2980521/miami-dolphins-lack-ability-stability.html
Whatever. I still don't think this team is nearly as bad as people make them out to be. Negativity is high, but that means nothing if you win. Just ****ing win.
He didn't mention that the two, Philbin and Ireland seem to be working together very well moving forward.
Basically Deej, we require Marlon Moore to catch the ball, Naanee to prove his last two yrs were not indicative his talent, and Rishard Matthews plays way over a rookie level. Won't even speak about the offensive line.
Meh, I think the only saving grace would be if Philbin was an exceptional schemer...Which we don't know yet.
Meh, I don't think any NFL team is as bad as people think. However, this team is really trying to make a case this year. We'll see what we have in Tannehill and Philbin
Confident in Smith, notsomuch marshall..really, I don't Know how this particular team is gonna respond, so gonna have to wait and see how I approach the season, this coach has to get his type of players, or just professional ones.
The coach, or the GM? Other than the black hole that is the wide receiver depth chart, I still think my biggest worry is Kevin Coyle's defense. Just a bad feeling at this point.
Disjointness in our command and control is a serious problem right now deej. All of the assets being used on blue collar positions is coming back to haunt, along with the failure to develop virtually any offensive skill position draft picks, think about that, only drafted Wr we have is Hartline and Matthews, 5th rd pick safeties, etc.
We need Matthews to be the next Marques Colston. 7th rounder who catches 70 for 1k plus and 8 TDs as a rookie.
I'm lost bro..can't tell anything until we know whether this group of men are going to play for this coach or not this year, all projections are off, these payers could literally be pissed off at the coach and not play hard, or Philbin could of done something to get their respect before the game, we might have to clean house, IDK..
It's a stupid article. Miami has lost in practice very little of value due to rebuilding. No one has shifted a bunch of assets because we suddenly didn't need them because the Dolphins switched from Brian Daboll's offense to Mike Sherman's, or Mike Nolan's defense to Kevin Coyle's. It's true going back a while, too. The problem is getting the talent and coaching, it's not getting rid of it. Lighting a candle for Ted Ginn is deeply and genuinely pathetic. He's a kick returner. He's seen the open market twice, and both times saw minimal interest in him going somewhere for a role as a wide receiver. Ted Ginn being our third receiver would be as much or more of a miscast than anyone on the roster in those circumstances. The gnashing of teeth over Welker has long since gone around the bend as well. If someone offered a 2nd round pick for a player identical to Wes Welker circa 2007, you're going to take it. Most everyone is going to take it. We didn't move Wes Welker because some scheme idea that someone had, we moved him because it was a good price. Wes Welker went on to be really ****ing good, but if someone had that inclination back then, they sure as hell didn't speak up. I honestly doubt Bill Belichick had any idea that Welker would turn out like he has.
Does everyone think that these dynasty teams (patriots, steelers, green bay) were put together over one off season? Until Miami settles with a coach/GM and gives them TIME this perpetual funk will continue. I think we suck it up, give Philbin and Tannehill time.
What if the Dolphins decide to play Hartline, Bess, Armstrong ahead of Moore, Naanee and Matthews? Yes, in the preseason we saw some 21 with Moore and Nannee on the field together(Wallace also, Bess not so much). Perhaps that changes when the season starts and the games are about winning, not eval. How many times do you honestly expect to see all three of Moore, Naanee and Matthews active on gameday, let alone on the field together? Maybe Sherman/Philbin intend to make use of the talent they do have, (Fasano, Clay, Bush, Bess, Hartline, Armstrong, Thomas, Miller, Thigpen) instead of throwing the bottom of their depth chart at a position of weakness out on the field with their rookie QB. Just a thought.
Disagree with the premise. The Dolphins are stable. The owner will be around for many years, they had the same head coach for four years, and have had the same GM for five years. The problem isn't stability, it's ability. Also, Vontae Davis, character risk? That's uncharacteristic laziness from Le Batard.
What do you mean? Vontae Davis did have character issues coming out of Illinois and has had issues in Miami as well.
Vontae Davis had rumors of character issues that proved unfounded, like the time he was supposedly arrested—only it turned out someone was using his name on a fake ID. The worst thing he's ever done in Miami is show up to a single practice hung over. That's a lack of professionalism, not a character issue. A character issue is what Ray Lewis had in Atlanta.
Vontae's character issues were more or less people comparing him to his brother, Vernon. It was more speculation based.
