Thanks to Offensive Coordinator Mike Sherman, former Texas A&M Fullback Jorvorski Lane was brought in and signed by the Miami Dolphins back in early June as an undrafted free agent. Sherman stuck his neck out vouching for Lane’s skills, pleading for GM Jeff Ireland to bring him in. Ireland made the right decision by listening to his offensive coordinator. After originally being a long shot to make this roster, Jorvorski Lane beat the odds and will be the starting fullback for our 2012 Miami Dolphins. http://phinphanatic.com/2012/09/02/jorvorski-lane-beat-the-odds/
Better than Polite because Lane can catch the ball.He has to improve his blocking skills though .He has the size to do it.
I remember when people were talking about drafting him before his senior season started. His Youtube videos are great to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogmNIFw_yMs&feature=related Think he'll be a great addition to our team. No worries about the short "Polite" type runs. Nor so about catching it out of the backfield. I'm just not 100% sure of his blocking abilities. If he's decent/good in that area, we may have found our fullback for the next couple of seasons!
How about Jaws for a nickname .Yes I know a Jaworski was called that but somehow it applies better here .
Jovorski "HOV" Lane = High Occupancy for how many guys it takes to bring him down. High Output for blocks to clear the path for RB.
Let's not get too ahead of ourselves on Lane. He still needs to improve his blocking to stick around.
In my practice notes there is a comment about the block this guy laid out, we'll see if he can be consistent, but this one block was devastating. he also made a beautiful catch by Tannehill on a deep seam route..also, he's in very good shape, and, he's hungry, gots kids to feed.
there's no need to discuss nick names if you have seen djs post about the best nick name ever. javorski "get the f*** out of my" lane
The kid could provide a spark ya know..I'd like to him on some screen passes with open space, like to see what he does to a dback comin up for the hit.
people like lane make me forget about our wrs. i am optimistic about this year. i believe we finally have our franchise qb, reggie is always awesome and daniel thomas is a great contrast, lane will have no problem on 3rd and short or 4th and inches, bess is always reliable, hartline needs to hurry up and get back in the game, and i hope what we saw from fasano doesn't happen in the regular season. i hope our defense is as good as it use to be, the run defense is there. i question our pass defense but hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised by our pass defense. i think we have the offense to move the chains (hopefully consistently). i cant wait to upgrade our wrs next year!
