Considering the first Sparano year we won the division, and with an accurate, albeit noodle-armed quarterback, and ground and pound offense; considering we went 0-7 last year before finding a little mojo; considering we now have a HC who would rather suffer than deal with players of low moral character, and poor work ethic; I'll gladly say 10 wins! As long as Tannehill is QB, and injuries and ineptness don't run rampant that is...

Keep in mind this is the same guy that bet under 7.5 wins for the 49ers last season (They went 13-3).

Starters, backups, 3rd and 4th team have been comprehensively outplayed all preseason. This team is a few injuries away from being 2007 bad.Easy schedule might give them 3 wins. :(

Not sure how you can say that. We have gotten worst at WR, depth at Oline, and Secondary. I can't see 8 wins for this team.

Bite the bullet..play the young and physically talented players and let them learn

Means Top 5 pick, but prefer a young team to a crappy Vet team.

INOW, run Gates on 9 routes, see what he can do, what is the downside in a down yr?

I'd suggest a "Gone Fishin" sig pic fellas

But we have no weapons outside to even pose a threat. Yes we got better in 2 key areas QB and coaching but its not enough to push to .500 or over. Next year for sure but not this year.

Relax, we'll bring in a few other players. Our starters were a rare drop from Fasano from beating Atlanta's starters and our starters beat Dallas tonight. there's bugs to work out and we aren't a great team but I don't see how we're worse than last year.

Honest question. How often to LATE AUGUST additions to a roster really make an impact on a team's fortunes in the upcoming season? I realize it happens once in a blue moon. I'm asking HOW OFTEN?

I dunno. Probably as rare as going 11-5 after 1-15. Or less rare like a rookie star QB already knowing the offense and OC.

    .500 guaranteed.

We didn't have great depth last year and we really didn't upgrade it this year. I figured starting Oline would be pretty good but uncertainty on the right side has me concerned.

I don't think Miami is going to go out and make a big trade to get big WR target like Bowe or Wallace. I think they hope Detroit or Seattle drop one of their Wideouts.

I'm thinking Burelson or Obowanu will be brought in if they get cut maybe Seattle cuts Doug Baldwin.

IMO, it depends on what moves if any, we make for improving the WRs and DBs before the season starts. Right now we are undermanned on both, and IMO even 5-11 would be lucky.

We're slightly worse in the secondary and 6 tds worse in the WR dept. No way that trumps a better oline, QB, running game and coaching.

    .500 or better.

    For the cliff's note.

They are MUCH worse in the secondary..and the WR position is an abortion. That is not an opinion for any realistic person. That is a fact barring a miracle.

Nope. We lost a nickel CB and a WR who only scored 6 Tds last year which was good for 30-ish in the league.

    Oline is better.
    Running game is better.
    QB is better.
    Coaching is better.
Hell our TEs might even be better.

We'll be ok. .500 or better, guaranteed.

Sounds about right to me. Offense averages 16 points scored and defense allows about 20 points scored, as for averages.
I'd guess Tannehill has a QB rating no higher than 75 and 1:1 ratio for TD/int if he is lucky.

And I'll believe that the right side of the OL is better when I see it.

Plus they really don't look like they have mastered the new schemes on both sides of the ball, and I'm guessing it takes them another 4 games to do so.

If you think that Vontae Davis is a "nickel Corner" then your evaluation of Defensive back talent is crap.

Reducing Marshall's contribution to "6 td's" is ridiculous.

If a couple of our opponent's planes crash while flying into Miami...then I can see .500. If not..6 wins is the ceiling and 7 is a reason to pop champagne.

If I bring my calculator to those numbers...

you are talking about a -64 point differential which is good for 4-12.

Which is a 60 point swing from last year. Slightly drastic, but I think that a 40 point swing is absolutely possible which means 6-10 ....again.

(Last years performance pointed toward 8 wins btw.)

Vontae was outplayed. He was the nickel corner. Either way not a huge drop.

I would never reduce Marshall's production to just 6 tds...how dare you!!!!! He also produced strife, turmoil and distractions and 1200 yards that did squat for the team. Our offense was worse with Marshall in silly statistical categories like wins, yards and points.

    .500 or better.

Sadly, this undermanned roster may be Failing Forward Fast too, even though it's not something the coach advocates.

You're being ridiculous. I bet you thought we'd be .500 or better last year to and the year before. I love the Dolphins, went to my first game in 1978, but im not a blind homer. Im a realist and reality is, this team sucks. You guaranteeing we will be .500 or better is nuts. Tell you what, set up a Paypal account and ill bet you $500 we don't get 8 wins

    Back in Miami
Back to defining the talent of a player based on a year of production in an offense that sucked rear end.
Laughable but what else can we expect from the source.

Anyone saying the WR position is not worse off is living in La La land.
The QB is a rookie and it remains to be seen if he can play at the same level Moore did last year.
Coaching is still a work in progress.

You are also ignoring the fact that changes in scheme tend to take time to become second nature to a team.
It's the first year of a new scheme and it will show at times.

We have no pass rush besides one player until someone shows they have the ability to take pressure off of Wake.
I'd keep going but why bother. It wont get through.

    These are the mathematical facts.

Hard math has this team as a 5.5 win team.

Luck can push that number to 7.5

Bad luck can push it to 1.5

Team moral and injuries can setup 0-16.

That is what a -40 PD team IS. just facts.

We already have a bet and i'd never bet money on a football game.

I'm far from a homer. I was one of a tiny of handful of people that was 100% against Parcells coming here when this site was another site. I didn't think we'd be good last year at all. You're wrong a lot it seems.

Last year our CB depth was:
    Davis
    Smith
    Will Allen
    Carroll
    Wilson

    Now it is:
    Smith
    Marshall
    Carroll
    Lawrence
    Kevyn Scott
    Vince Agnew.

I don't see how anyone could objectively say this year's depth is as good as last year.

But hey, you're right potential always trumps on field production. That makes you like Rex Ryan..kudos.
