You're way off base bub. I know Todd personally, we email back and forth all the time, and he told me he'd never come back to this forum. So, why are you making accusations that you cannot prove?
I prefer Spill The Wine. I was once out strolling one very hot summer's day When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest In a big field of tall grass I laid there in the sun and felt it caressing my face As I fell asleep and dreamed I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie And that I was the star of the movie This really blew my mind The fact that me an overfed long haired leaping gnome Should be the star of a Hollywood movie, hmmm But there I was I was taken to a place The hall of the mountain kings I stood high by the mountain tops Naked to the world In front of Every kind of girl There was long one's, tall ones, short ones, brown ones, Black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones Out of the middle, came a lady She whispered in my ear Something crazy She said, Spill the wine, take that pearl Spill the wine, take that pearl Spill the wine, take that pearl Spill the wine, take that pearl I thought to myself, what could that mean Am I going crazy, or is this just a dream Now wait a minute I know I'm lying in a field of grass somewhere So it's all in my head And then I heard her say one more time Spill the wine dig that girl Spill the wine dig that girl Spill the wine dig that girl Spill the wine dig that girl I could feel hot flames of fire roaring at my back As she disappeared, but soon she returned In her hand was a bottle of wine In the other a glass She poured some of the wine from the bottle into the glass And raised it to her lips And just before she drank it, she said Take the wine dig that girl Spill the wine, dig that girl Spill the wine, dig that girl Spill the wine, dig that girl Take that girl, yeah! It's on girl, all you gotta do is spill that wine Spill that wine, let me feel, let me feel hot, yeah! yeah! Spill the wine, spill the wine, spill the wine, spill the wine, Spill the wine, spill the wine, spill the wine, Dig that girl!
What's with all the crazy talk. Let phinsational be whoever he wants or is, or whatever. We need to focus on something more important. Reggie Bush winning Dolphons survivor. It may be the only Dolphins victory this year. Lol. Come on Monst and Phin. Stop It before we Say you're acting like a couple Jets fans. Lol. Joking. Love you both.
No kidding man. Some people are just paranoid and conspiracy theorists. I don't know you outside this forum, but I do know that former member Todd he is talking about, and you ain't him.
I thought Daniel Thomas really took that visit with Philbin to heart. He ran pretty well in the Atlanta game.
Yeah, that's beyond classless to trash someone's kids, and especially when the guy has 2 Autistic daughters. No need for that nonsense anywhere.
Probably Brown decided not to, because Campbell had a wad of chewing tobaccy in his mouth. That can be a turn off when French kissing.
great minds think alike, McLean..... I hadn't even seen your post when I was busy typing my previous one.
Sheldon Cooper has a message board? I doubt Monstblitz can equal Sheldon's intellect or people skills.
Uhh, anyone besides Barry and Clean? I shoulda prefaced the question with, "if you don't feel the same way then dont respond".
The entire cast is really good, but Sheldon makes that show IMO. One of the best sitcom characters in many years.
First, to you and everyone else up in arms, but especially you after that comment - I didn't know that when I made the very harmless and tongue in cheek comment. Second, his son isn't autistic so what does that have to do with anything? All of a sudden I'm insensitive to the issue of autism because I very jokingly called his son a nerd? For someone who is being so defensive of another member's feelings on this forum, someone who I honestly wasn't trying to attack I just honestly thought he was Todd, you sure are going waaaaaay out of your way to personally attack me in this thread. And that's fine, but don't try and paint me as some kind of kid hating super villain. I have a child myself and certainly understand what it must be like for Jeff Ireland to raise 2 children with autism. My heart goes out to him and his family. I might not respect him as a GM but I'm sure he's a fine family man. And I'm sure his son is a real nice kid. So let's not blow an innocent comment I made after watching a scene on Hard Knocks into something it's not.
I have a new found respect for Ireland. I liked how he took the time to sit with every single player cut, even the nobodies who would never have made the roster. That has to be tough to sit right there and crush somebody else's dreams like that. I thought he was very genuine.
The knock against Ireland isn't that he doesn't have a soul. It's that he's not very good at his job.
Id say there has been plenty of knocks against him saying he has no soul and no clue how to talk yo people.
That's up to the people bashing Ireland personally, then. All I care about is that he's not good at his job.
Before he did that, Joe Philbin had a meeting with all the coaches that I believe included Jeff Ireland, and it was Philbin that directed them all to make the time to sit down with every player they cut. I believe his words were something along the line of "Most of these guys have been working since April 10th, ... the least we can do is take a few minutes to tell them how much we appreciate them."
If I have a criticism of how Jeff Ireland treats people, it would not be that he doesn't have compassion. He has a life outside of football and participates in a lot of charities, and people that know him outside of football have consistently praised him for being a super nice guy. The criticism is that he doesn't have a good sense for which situations to use that side of himself, and which situations to use this gruff, artificially tough "football" attitude he's come to adopt (in part from watching Parcells). When you're cutting guys that have been there since early April working their butts off, it's obviously a time to show them your compassion. There's nothing difficult about that decision. In fact they had a meeting before all that started and Joe Philbin told them all right then and there, don't lose sight of how hard and long these guys have been working for us, the least we can do is take a few minutes to tell them we're cutting them and to be compassionate. And then the other criticism would be that he's just not very good at his job...which is arguable either way.
This is a tough business and hitting and missing on guys is a part of it. Some of you have posted statistics on just how many guys drafted in particular rounds don't make it. I think the arguments against him on the receiver issue are generally valid. Maybe not so much on some other issues. In hindsight, folks warned about drafting a Missouri tight end, and some of those issues have been there (e.g., blocking). Or as CK has noted drafting a guy like Vernon a little too early. We are a reactive bunch on here from time to time and I include myself in that. But I will admit that sometimes my judgements have not always been well founded and more like a fan than someone trying to anaylze truth. And I belive a fan should be able to vent by the way.
Well, it appears anyone the talk of his inability to interact well with people was somewhat misguided. As for his player evaluation ability the opinions on that are sure well mixed.
