If the competition was remotely close, Moore would probably have been named the starter. RT blew his doors off in games and in camp. He's hanging right in there production wise with RG3 and Luck thus far, despite fewer reps with the starters.

I got 13 (counting Tannehill), so I'm missing four somewhere in there:

    Fiedler
    Lucas
    Griese
    Feeley
    Frerotte
    Lemon
    Harrington
    Culpepper
    Beck
    Pennigton
    Henne
    Moore
    Tannehill

I don't understand how you can conclude that Moore gives the team a better chance to win. He's had at least double the 1st team reps to date and has looked more like a rookie than the rookie himself. If Garrard were healthy, I'd see your point.

You are the one who does not understand the meaning. Not Padre. This term, as it pertains to the NFL, was first made popular by George Allen when he took over as coach of the Redskins, because he traded away the future (as in draft picks) to win now with the experienced proven veterans he traded for. Hence, The Future is Now.

Garrard had a knee cleanup, not an ACL, a fairly common procedure this time of yr on Vets.

Instead of waiting they named Tannehill the starter..which makes the conclusion fairly obvious to draw

    Rebuilding yr, :woot:

    Good news.
By all accounts he's earned it. Seems like every day we've been reading he was the better performer. he looked good against Tampa. Carolina was a rougher night for him, but still didn't make the boneheaded mistakes you'd expect to see. So far so good.
See how he does in what should be a full half of action this weekend.

I can understand the negativity of some, in thinking that he's destined to fail with this OL, and these WR's... but he's going to learn a hell of alot more on the field, then he is on the bench watching Matt Moore stink it up. If we had a much more experienced guy on the roster who was capable of playing, then I'd question that line of thinking, but at this point its got to be Tannehill.

Now, time to get me a new jersey!

There would be other viable options at right tackle if Martin did not start. To suggest it is either him or bring back Colombo looks like hyperbole to me.

The difference with the Colts and Redskins are the first of all, Luck and RG3 are simply better prospects. Also neither has anything close to competition on their rosters. Rex Grossman was the 31st QB last season according to PFF. The Colts backup is Stanton who has never been a regular starter in the league. There primary QB last season, Curtis Painter, was rated 35th. Matt Moore was rated the 9th QB in the league by PFF last season. Two years ago, Garrard went to the Pro Bowl.

I certainly can't do it either lol. I looked online and it is Fiedler, Huard, Lucas, Griese, Feeley, Rosenfels, Frerotte, Harrington, Culpepper, Lemon, Green, Beck, Pennington, Henne, Thigpen, Moore, and Tannehill.

Pat White also played but did not start. Yikes!!

Moore played terrible so far in the preseason and the only real competition Tannehill had at this time was Delvin. I always thought Garrard would beat out Moore for the starting job, but his knee injury prevented him from competing for the job at this time.

If Garrard is able to come back from his injury and be the backup. I think Delvin will be kept around as the third string QB and Moore will be traded or cut before the season starts, or as soon as Garrad is cleared to return to the team.

Moore will make a decent backup for another team in the NFL, but he just isn't a QB you can build a team around.

Check out the big brain on Brett.

Actually, if you want the correct meaning of the term it is this: "Whatever we do today is gonna help us tomorrow, and that's what 'The Future Is Now' is."

That is direct from the mouth of George Allen's son. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/03/george_allen_and_the_future_is.html

Hence what we are doing today, STARTING TANNEHILL, is going to help us tomorrow and in the future. Starting him now accelerates his learning curve and his growth. Again, what we are doing today is going to help us tomorrow. Not win now, as you and Padre incorrectly claim. It is to help us tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after than and so on and so forth.

And it wasn't first made popular by George Allen.

Might want to check your facts when you come at me.

Garrard hasn't played one game in pre-season or all of last year when he was cut, what makes you think he would have won the job.

IE..when we acquire a player, they will help us win tomorrow, not a draft pick who may not pan out next yr.

His teams were known as the Over the Hill Gang for a reason.

As far as Garrard being better than RT in practice, I say bullsh&$..RT's been solid in actual games, but Moreso in practice, I've said before, the talent discrepancy was discernible when I saw him..Garrard wasn't separating himself from anybody the first week of practice, looked a bit sluggish and uninspiring imo..that first depth chart was all veteran seniority combined with not being able to put RT's game into context at that point because he was getting third team reps, but believe me when I tell you, there was no competition in terms of talent, and ability to know the offense, he smoked them..

I say that and I wasn't in favor of drafting Rt at 8, not because I thought he was a bad prospect but I wanted Weeeden or Russell Wilson along with another pick, that value interested me, especially with Wilson for where we could of got him, thought and think he will be a star, but, after seeing our kid in person, his talent has a way of shutting your mouth, and making you excited you got him..

I do like that Philbin did not stray away from his promise, that the team can and should focus all efforts on the texans, and start working on the damn running game.

What I haven't seen enough of in these two games is the moving pocket, this must be a signature in this scheme to take full advantage of this kids skillset, and to protect him..The kid is equally lethal going right or left, and I don't think the NFL has ever seen anything like that specifically, we must not forget..keep the mother grabbing pocket moving..completely put the pass rushers off their mark, and let this kid run around and play ball.

As far as RT is concerned, I don't want him to forget that he can pull down the ball and run with it..He seems to be late on reacting and running from the pocket..
