No need to be bitter just b/c your team hired our old coach Tony 3points.
Yeah I don't think they let those guys out for good behavior.....
but if they did, the amount of personal foul penalties they'd get------ you'd never make it past midfield.

Just saw the episode. Where was Carpenter's wife in the show?

Anyways, what stood out to me was the directness Sherman had during his meetings - he really laid into the tight ends. Dropping F bombs too. Then, in the box calling plays he says things like "dag-nabbit" when C.Johnson drops the ball. Doesn't add up unless he is swearing to emphasize his points to the TEs.

Sherman is going to be an excellent influence on Philbin I think, and someone he can lean on for the time being.

I could be wrong, but I dont think it's about the number of posts you have or don't have..... and if "all of these message boards are the same", perhaps you should start wondering if you, not the boards, is the common denominator for the problem you're experiencing. Personally, I like to forgive and forget if a person sees their error and changes their ways, but until then you're probably going to come off as more abrasive and trolling than a guy I'd personally want to sit next to during a Fins game.

When the stores first opened back in the 60s, their hours were 7am to 11pm. Unprecedented at the time.

What makes Hogan ideal for the slot? He's as big or bigger than most of the other WRs besides Wallace. He is fast, he is strong, he is quick. The ONLY physical difference is he's white. So why isn't Hartline ideal for the slot? I'm sure Hogan could play the slot, but he certainly isn't limited to there.

Im not experiencing any problems. And as far as all message boards being the same, i was referring to guys with 10,000 posts thinking they are somehow a better fan or more knowledgeable then a guy with 5 posts. And what error should I see? I think it was a mistake letting Chad Johnson go. I know he isnt what he used to be, but he is better than any receiver on the roster now. We have no weapons at receiver, why cant any of you understand that? This is just like when Ricky was eligible to come back and the majority of guys didnt want him back either. He was the best RB we've ever had, and guys didnt want him back. That guy could fall out of bed and rush for 1,000 yards. It wasnt on this message board, it was on the Miami Herald borad. Im not on there anymore cause it sucks now. He was soo much better than Ronnie Brown it wasnt ecen funny, but guys, just like you, were saying he was a distraction blah blah blah. Well, he came back, Ronnie Brown got hurt as usual and Ricky had about 1100 yards, not even playing a full season. Him being on the team made them better but some people didnt wasnt him, cause he smoked weed or was quirky, or because he quit on "them". Quit taking the game so serious. I want to watch my team win and all you care about is that Chad Johnson likes to run his mouth. I wonder if Dan Marino ran his mouth like that if youd have wanted him off the team?

Plenty of us can understand that, and believe me, most of us share your frustration..... but it could be the way you came across when you said it by lumping us all together as being some type of sensitive Nancy "holier than thou" fans as the reason we're ok with Johnson being cut, which couldn't be further from the truth. It sounded a little insulting, and b/c you don't have enough posts here to have an established rapport with most of the community, the seemingly belittling nature of your post appeared trolling in nature. Don't forget, trolls do exist, and not just under bridges asking for money to pass. I'm new here, and I've already seen what trolling fans from other teams look like, and if it looks like a duck, it will most likely be treated like a duck, no?

Example: If you're on a first date, do you tell the girl her dress makes her look fat?.... or do you wait until you're married? :shifty:

you are mistaking the forest for the trees... The reason Chad Johnson was released is much more complex than him just running his mouth. And it's more than the physical altercation with his wife... although that was the final straw. There were times when he didn't know what to do on the field... and he's a veteran. Just like in New England, he didn't learn the offense and our offense is supposed to be easier to learn. He only played one of the three receiver spots (XYZ) because that's all he knew how to do. So you've got a 34 year old receiver, who can't play special teams, can only line up at one of the receiver spots, who happens to run his mouth in press conferences who just got arrested for head butting his wife.

As for our inexperience at wide receiver leading to the conclusion that we have no talent there... that's a little like me saying you don't know anything about football because you have less than a hundred posts here. For the record, I didn't say that and I'm willing to hear what you have to say. You should be the same with our receiver core, at least thru the rest of the preseason.

Hmm, I wonder why thr Steelers arent distracted by Ben Rothlesberger? What with him getting into motorcycle accidents and getting drunk and forcing/exposing himself to chicks in a mens room of a bar. Somehow, they aren't distracted and go to the Super Bowl every other year.

He might not have that type of sense of humor, but he seems to tolerate it rather than shut id down does he not? I applaud him for letting his guys be guys and have their fun even though it's not the way he'd probably do it. That says a lot about him IMO.

I hadn't realized that Chad Johnson had already won a SB for Miami and is currently one of the top receivers in the league to even begin to have this discussion.

Hey, I may be in the minority of the interpretation, but I think he was playing along.....his sense of humor is dry. As the HC and authority figure, he has been around the NFL long enough to fully understand rookie hazing and was actually joining in and teasing him from a "way to represent the organization" standpoint and piling on. He knows this kid had zero say or control over what the vets did to him, etc. Thats part of the fun in poking him as if its his idea to do that from a haircut standpoint. Thats what made it so funny.

Yes, the camera didnt show him cracking a smile....but thats the dryness. I found it hysterical and actually funny to have him be so "straight" in his delivery. Philbin gets it, and he isnt hardup or uptight!

Sometimes I think far to much is made on this board over every little bit of Dolphins news, and now HK is taking us behind the scenes and this is harped on and over-analyzed when in the grand scheme of things its very low on the importance meter. Heck everyone in the room was laughing, its not like the all stopped laughing and bolted upright when Philbin was busting his balls.....I give him props for not cracking a smile or laughing....that's too easy to do in that situation. Busting on him stone cold straight faced was perfect in the situation and his role as HC.

Again, I may be in the minority, but think Philbin played his part perfectly. And it was an act to egg the kid on, etc.

Did you miss Philbin make the joke about being a first class organization after he saw it? Seemed to me like he was having fun with it as well.

Of course there is talent at wr. I think Bess and Hartline are very good receivers. After that it drops off significantly. As good as Bess and Hartline are, they are not #1 receivers. This bunch of receivers scares no one. I am just so tired of losing seasons and boring offense.

So, if you're a super bowl winning quarterback that doe
s stupid things off the field, the team wont be distracted by those things? I didnt realize thats how it worked. Thanks for clearing that up for me

I agree with you, Big. I think he definitely has a dry sense of humor, and I definitely think he was playing along, but at the same time b/c of his responsible title as head coach I think he was more apprehensive to play along than he otherwise would be, and he seemed a little uncomfortable playing along, but at the same time I got the sense that he didn't want to be "that coach" who ruins the fun for everyone. I like that he recognizes there are times where he just needs to let boys be boys.

I think we are getting somewhere... so you are upset that the Dolphins lack a #1 receiver because we traded Marshall away and cut Chad Johnson? Since we're installing essentially the Packers offense... who was their #1 receiver last year? The year before? How about the year before that? Would it surprise you that the #1 receiver (according to passes caught) the last three years for the Packers was a different player each year?

The point I'm trying to make is that with this offense, the receiver group should be judged as a whole rather than one single blossoming element. Lets see how it plays out this preseason and on into the regular season before criticizing who we have.

I agree, at the moment, it would seem as though this bunch scares no one, but there is talent among it if someone can take that next step. Let's hold off on beating them up until some of the season unfolds like Paul12 said. Perhaps a Victor Cruz emerges, who knows. If one does, all you anxiety would've been for nothing, no?

I share your sentiment about losing. I hate losing. I even hate losing at checkers.

Is there not a part of you that was excited to see our new fast paced offense while imagining what it could look like if Tannehill becomes a great QB and we add a stud receiver next year (or if one of our own happens to emerge)? I thought that alone was a reason to smile, at least for me it was.

This isnt about the team paying him, it was about how CJ was a distraction for the team. I brought up Ben R. And wondered why he wasn't a distraction to the steelers. Apparently its because hes won a super bowl. So, what the other poster pointed out was it depends on how good you are as to wether being a fcuk up will distract your team

Great point. To add to your perspective, Packer QBs targeted the #3, 4, 5 receiver and backs more than their #1 & 2 receivers IIRC.
