DT got roasted because of Matt Moore, you could see the run blitz coming, he didnt change the play and like i said DT got hammered, fast forward some and it happens again with Tannehill and he audibles into like a 8 yard gain with a pass...

Signing him in the first place and having this happen does. You're kidding yourself if you think it doesn't.

While I was against the signing, it was a low risk thing. If he sucked or did something stupid he was an easy cut. You're kidding yourself if you think this is any kind of a big deal for the organization.

    I do disagree.

I don't think his "clowning around" caused him to hit his wife. I think his overreaction to Philbin's talk, is more likely to be the culprit than being silly. I think a guy like Chad needs to be "on".

I think after not fitting in in New England, he gets a chance to come here, where he grew up and be himself and start over new. Hence the name change. Everything is going great. Then the PC and the talk. The all of a sudden, he over reacts, won't talk to the media, tweets he had a bad day at work, blows is chance in game #1 then gets arrested. It would not surprise me if he makes the news negatively in the next few weeks/months.

Big deal for Ross, Ireland and Co.? No. Just contributes to years of making the organization look bad, which hurts us when we try to hire coaches and attract free agents.

i saw some replies here that Burress signed with NE, i see nothing out there that would suggest that, still only that he had a try out with them

Cutting Chad was the right move. He always had his dream of playing for the Dolphins and HE blew it. Not the organization.

Sucks on a lot of different levels. Really hoped he would reclaim some of that old glory and be a good influence on the team. I think he was from the standpoint of practice and working out. Then you have the mouth part of him that already had him in hot water, see Hard Knocks. Philbin and Ireland are not playing games with people that are character issues or represent the team in a negative light. You get a clean slate and a fair shake for a fresh start. Chad ruined it all in the span of 2 weeks with his profanity laced press conference and now this alleged attack. Especially with the quote given that he didn't give a **** about his career. He now doesn't have to worry about that.

Of course they are working him out. The second this went down with Chad last night, they made sure they were the first call he received. We are no threat to them this year, but it doesn't mean they don't want to make sure we don't get any better.

I'm not sure where you Got him hitting his wife from my opinion..

The man needed to change in life..he didn't, because he wasn't introspective enough to understand how to evolve, he just went to what he knows, being a clown..

Yes he blew it, not disputing that at all. But it still blows back on the Fins organization.

We put too much stock into Chad being "himself" over just being part of a greater whole. God forbid he silently contribute toward a winning effort. He always struck me as the player who'd much rather bask in the attention that comes as a result of individual performance. You can't expect much from your team when the class clown is running the show; just ask the folks in Cincy."Himself" is just a cop out for his utter disregard for the rest of the team and team chemistry imo.

You calling it a backfiring publicity stunt I wonder? I was thinking he might help us on the football field.
He laid the proverbial egg in his hometown. Highjacking a meeting and the presser was enough for me.

There was talk that the Pats were interested in working out Burress before Chad got into trouble. The timing is a coincidence.

If you are interested in personalities then you are going to LOVE Tuesdays show. Chad cannot be cut out from the game but besides that, no one will see much, if any , of Chad.

All the film is shot, lots of it, all over the place, then sent out and someone not even in Davie decides what goes on the screen.

Anyone with the least bit of sense that puts thos on the Miami Dolphins is an idiot. Players have been arrested by the dozens all around the league this year. I was one of the few hoping Chad would do good but in all honestly, its the first time in his 11 years in the NFL that he has been arrested.

Just a bit off topic, Did y'all see that reaction by coach when he was talking to Sherman about Tannehill in hard knocks, ( watching it again right now)the conversation was, did you see how he threw the ball today, then he said some word to capture his excitement after Sherman mumbled something, it was like "chaaaay" he did, like in a bit of disbelief..that's how I felt and tried to describe what I saw in his first practice.

I like the dynamics and chemistry of Moore and Tannehill going into the season.

It's funny how some people think the Miami Dolphins are the only team ever to have a guy get arrested or cut someone for embarrassing the organization.

This stuff happens everywhere in every sport, folks.

I like Chad but he blew his chance and it's time to move on.

Exactly d22..that guy has watched the best in the game throw the ball for 4 years..

I also see Moore in a bit of a different light as well, I think the team will want him to start first.

No one said they are the only team this has happened to, but a lot has happened to this team over the last few years, from arrests to being snubbed by coaches and free agents to courting a new had coach before you fire the old one and then giving the old one a new contract when the one you wereoffering the job turns you down. Not to mention the celebrity owners, the honoring Tebow on the day he beats us, the selling Jets jerseys in our gift shops, etc...
Any one or two of these things could be shrugged off, but taken together with our win loss record over the last ten years, it just contributes to an ongoing image problem.

I don't see that contribution. It could just as easily be construed as contributing to the Dolphins under Philbin being seen as a no nonsense organization. Coaches and FAs who care more about winning than press could be more attracted to that.

Yeah that was a real genuine reaction, "like woah this kid can throw". It was nice to see something like that opposed to a question asked by the media or whatever.

As a Portland Trail Blazers fan, I can definitely relate. We had our infamous squad about 10 yrs ago that were referred to as the Jail Blazers because so many different players were constantly in trouble with the law.

Its what he did to get kicked off the team. If its not relevant to your point, then you don't really have one.

You're saying his self entitlement lead to his ruin here. He wasn't ruined here until he got arrested for hitting his wife. Self entitlement had nothing to do with that.

I wonder: would he have been cut if he hadn't dropped that pass that hit him in the hands in the Bucs preseason game? Probably, I guess, but how much did it contribute to the decision?

I think he would've been cut anyway, but I do think the drop and his reaction to it were probably part of a cumulative thing in Philbin's mind.

being a fellow blazers fan, that team transformed me from being a fanatic to completely turning me off from the NBA. I just started watching the game again a couple of years ago. definitely not something we want to replicate here and it's good to see that our organization won't have those same tolerances.

Short of him getting in more trouble this really is yesterday news. The bad of todays media is when **** happens it is out there fast and heavy. The good news is they are always looking for the next headline which I'm sure someone will provide.

This organization has had a litany of 'embarrassments' if you want to call them that in the last few years. The owner is not exempt and has created several of those incidents himself. This CJ thing is NOT one of them.

That said, cutting CJ wasn't about the ownership, Jeff Ireland or Joe Philbin. This incident was about Chad Johnson (aka CJ, Ochocinco, CJ85). It's as simple as that. CJ was the guy that signed the contract that said that he was on a 'one strike and your out' leash. CJ was the one that escalated an argument with this wife into an arrest. CJ was the one that was NOT distinguishing himself thruout this camp. CJ WAS the one that dropped two passes in live work (albeit a scrimmage and the game against the Bucs). CJ WAS the one that had to be told to keep his language in check.

If a veteran FA, at some point in the future, decides not to come here because he's afraid of being cut when he screws up, I don't want that guy here. I want a guy here because he wants to contribute, wants a chance to show he's still got what it takes, and may just figure out that keeping himself clean is important in regards to his ongoing employment.

Lastly, I think that his show so far just got tiring to Philbin and co. His contributions simply didn't match his propensity for causing the staff headaches... It wasn't about the incident of having an argument with his wife, no matter who was at fault. It was the accumulation of all the things he was either contributing/causing headaches because of that led to them letting him go. They don't have time to work this thing out with CJ because of a) new systems on both O and D being installed. b) development and choosing of the right QB to lead the team c) Philbin and staff still coming together themselves as a staff and organization d) TC in it's most important few days (at least for the staff) in determining who will start, who will back up and who will pack up.

This, in and of itself, was NOT and embarrassment to this organization...

Without reading all of the replies above, I'm ashamed. I really think he had a lot of potential. His wife is psycho and I wouldn't doubt if it was all of her fault... Anyway, it had to be done. I hope we pick up another WR because we're lacking.

Edit: I didn't see this above... Can it be real?
