I think he deserves it. It is unfortunate that Zach played at the same time as Ray Lewis. Who is a better linebacker than Zach and a much bigger personality. Plus he has a super bowl. If Ray Lewis didn't exist there would be zero question about Zach entering the Hall of Fame.
Plus there is London Fletcher who has very similar numbers (if not better) as Zach and played in an overlapping time and is still going.
Zach Thomas was 5x First Team All-Pro and 2x 2nd Team All-Pro. London Fletcher was 2nd Team All-Pro once. Some people might bring up London Fletcher when discussing Zach, however London was not considered the player Zach was when playing.
I'm not saying London was considered the player Zach was, but London certainly hurts Zach's chances for the HOF IMO. Obviously not as much as Ray Lewis hurts his chances, but it still hurts.
Ray Lewis really shouldn't hurt Zach's chances. I know he will, but he shouldn't. Take out the INTs and their career numbers up until Zach retired compare fairly well. I don't think Zach will ever make it into the HoF, but just going on his career, he really should.
Having never seen them play at home, it would be something to be there for that game, at halftime, and to at least witness that live at the stadium. Round trip from LAX, maybe 275. if I book early. One weekend in October, it could be priceless.
