I like Philbins demeanor alot.....he is quite but you know EXACTLY where he is coming from, I know this isnt the military but those guys were the most effective as well.......I call it Quite Chaos....Calm people who are calmly serious scare me more than the Rex Ryan all or nothing types...

Philbin really impressed me. His handling of the Chad Johnson incident was spot-on, IMO: enough to say "I'm boss," but not stifling.

Speaking of Chad ... wow, he still has it. Very impressed with his continued athleticism in what little we saw.

Also very impressed with Garrard. Watch the man's eyes: he is FOCUSED. He knows he has to make the most of this opportunity.

And, Tannethrill ... WOW. I loved the shot of him working on the playbook, only to have the focus shift to the poster of Marino in the background. And the dude can just FLICK it. What an arm. Talk about upside.

    Finally, our cheerleaders are SMOKING.

When she was talking to those two dudes about how she first met Chad on Twitter, they were just two fans watching practice weren't they?

One of my favorite things about this ep was the narrator talking about Ireland's job of paring 90 players down to 53 - "You have too many players, and yet not enough at the same time."

Perfectly describes the state of our roster right now (and that of many other teams as well at this point).

Anyone else catch how excited Philbin was watching Ryan throw on that first day. Genuine excitement about him, not just press conference lip service. That - to me - spoke volumes about what Ryan might become.

That's what Ben Volin was saying before the show.

And imagine, unlike Tannehill who was a star quarterback and receiver at Texas A&M, Les Brown played some basketball at little NAIA Westminster College and then worked an entry level job at an accounting firm. Yet, he's dating Miss Utah 2011.

To me I dont think RT's actual physical attributes that are a question...the kid can run, pass etc......The same was with Henne...it is can he read a blitz? Does he do the old Wild West to his receivers, that is what is going to make him be another Henne, or the next Tom Brady.....

When you look at the kid, he is jacked...look at his shoulders, the arms (I am going all Deej right here) the kid is built like a sh^thouse....

he has 1/2 the makeup, the other 1/2 wont get answered until the games happen...But I want to see this kid THIS year play...I don't think he is THAT much worse than the other 2 for him not to get any looks this year starting...

By the way as alluded to, that girlfriend of Les Brown's was Miss Utah 2011 Jamie Crandall.

Oh, absolutely, that's why I want to see him play sooner than later. I mean, look at Brady, not all that physically gifted, but look what he does w/ his other mental gifts.

I'm really torn, though, between trying to win this year w/ Garrard/Moore, and outright going for the future out of the box w/ Tanny to see what he has ASAP. The fan in me wants to see as many wins as possible this year, but I also want to see us build into a powerhouse that is good for the next decade. And that will only happen w/ a successful Tanny.

Probably true, but she was clearly the hottest of the bunch. Garrard's wife is cute, but she's older. Matt Moore's wife is hot, but was recently "spoiled" by child birth. Tanny's wife is well known at this point, but she's almost too tall (very straight legs), and while she's hot, she gets points deducted for that. Les Brown's girl is just straight up DAMN!!

Shes definitely very attractive. Can't compare to the others as I didn't see. Mrs. Tannehill kind of has a horse mouth which loses a lot for me. I judge peoples attractiveness almost entirely on their face (so long as they have a normal body) because I'm weird

Regardless I don't think Les makes the team unless it's on the PS.

If thats the case... then during practice was not the time for that conversation if you need to have your eyes focused somewhere else. That is a 2 minute conversation. You can fit that in anywhere throughout the day...

Remember too they aren't keeping all 3, somebody probably is getting traded or cut....

I finally caught the show. It was well done. I like how it's showcasing the organization.

-I'm really rooting for Les Brown, but he lacks balance. He hasn't learned how to keep his weight centered and still play with power. He feels like a practice squad guy at best.

-Philbin was impressive. I believe a team will grow to reflect it's coach and I'm looking forward to what his team will become.

-V. Davis is unfortunately exactly what I talked about when we drafted him, a guy who has always got by on his talent. I worried about Smith less b/c even though he seemed to get a big head at the end (at Utah) he clearly had developed his technique. You could tell he listened to his coaches and put in the work. He learned to grind. With Davis, I saw the same exact mistakes every year in college. IMO that is a huge red flag. I thought Davis made some progress when W. Allen got in his ear, but I just don't think he's a guy who ever learned to grind. With guys like that you never know if they'll get it in year 1, year 4, year 10, or never.

-Brown's girl was IMO the hottest of the bunch and I would never say she's just "okay".

-I thought Ireland came off as a good guy.

-I thought Aponte just sounded stubborn and intractable in the short comment they aired. It almost sounded like Ireland was not involved at all in that negotiation.

-I loved the pace of the practice.

-Philbin sounded genuinely impressed by RT. After years of watching elite athletes, that says something special about RT.

I think with Philbin running the two teams on practice simultaneously and then just turning around etc. is brilliant. Unfortunately, every other coach in the NFL now has a blueprint as to how exactly he is achieving the number of reps that he is.

If every team started mimicking that approach, I dopn't see it as a negative, I see it as every team in the league is copying the Miami Dolphins.

    My thoughts:

-Everything seems a little over-the-top, so I'm trying not to overrreact

-Vontae came across as exactly how we believed he was behaving. Unprofessional, and just trying to get by on his talent. But lets not act like the guy is in jeopardy of being cut, or is waste of space. Over the second-half of last season, he was one of the better CBs in the league. He started out like crap, and I think the coaches are doing their best to make sure he gets it going from game 1. I think the producers recognize this and are portraying the situation to reflect that.

-Les Brown looked awful blocking. But what did anyone expect from a guy who was in his first few practices, and hadn't played football since high-school? The producers have obviously picked him out as the "long-shot trying to make the team".

-Philbin looked uncomfortable dealing with Chad Johnson IMO. When Johnson went into the meeting room, you could see Philbin looking around at the othe coaches like "is this guy for real?", just waiting for another coach to tell him to get out.

-Philbin seems like a coach that knows exactly what he wants to be done, and how to get there. He doesn't appear to ever get out of control, or let his emotions dictate how he acts. Really impressed with his poise and demeanor.

-Dawn Aponte's job is to make sure that contracts work in the team's favor. The team has taken the policy that nobody will get offset language in their contract. I certainly can't fault her for not relenting on that for Tannehill. Her job is to be the hardass.

Probably right on not keeping all three. Part of me wants to see an '08-style season, w/ Garrard or Moore leading the way against a "weaker" schedule. That said, all '08 did was disguise the fact that we really had no long-term solution at QB. If Garrard goes out, throws for 4K yards, wins come back player of the year, and leads us to a playoff loss on the road in Baltimore or something .... that's all find and dandy, but what does that mean for Tannehill's development. At that point, we'll have a 35-year-old QB, w/ recent injury history leading the way, and he won't be able to do it for much longer.

    So the scenarios are:

1 - Garrard/Moore starts, plays very well, leads us to playoffs. Neither is long-term solution, though, so our long-term fate is still tied to Tannehill, and that fate is delayed a year or two before we find out if he has it. If he does, fantastic. if he doesn't, we simply had fool's gold for a year or two, and then we're back to square one in about four years.

2 - Tanny starts, is awful, even by rookie standards, and by the end of next year, it's apparent he's not the guy. We're back to square one, but after about two years.

3 - Tanny starts, goes through the rookie issues, but ultimately flourishes, and in two years, he's a top-10 QB and rising. Suddenly, the rest of the division is looking up to us each year.

Option 1 has it's appeal only if Tanny is ultimately going to be great. It gives us a chance for success right away, and down the line. Option 3, though, offers the most intrigue, and the most immediate gratification on seeing what Tanny can do.

There is also the option that Garrard/Moore starts, is awful, and then Tanny is awful too, but I'm trying to be positive!

What was telling was the threat from Tannehill to sit out the year and re-enter the draft. Had no clue that the negotiations were that far off just a couple of days into camp.

Can you imagine the target on Ireland if he has spent the #8 pick on a player that never signed and went back into the draft? He thinks that target is big now....WOW!
