I would imagine that a number of west coast offense receivers could be had at cut time. They don't have to be the big guys or the extremely fast guys, but have skills running after the catch and catching the ball consistently. I am pulling for Hogan and Fuller to make a mark on the roster, but I believe Ireland will find other guys as he goes acorn hunting.
From the reports we've been getting, it is certainly Shelby so far who has impressed the most of the 3 UDFA DEs. Alexich is playing DT from what the scrimmage clips showed.
I agree with you. This WR group could be similar to the 2008 bunch, but even more effective. Penny did well that season, even though he did not have a #1 go to WR.
Agree, and this group is more talented and deeper than 2008 IMO. This is how I'd compare '08 to '12 based on how I project our guys to do this year. In hindsight, but how would Pre-season '08 Phinsational have thought of that WR corps before they played? We had much higher hopes for some of those guys. Hagan was developing. London had shown great length and shown flashes of real promise. Wilford appeared to be the big bodied redone guy we'd needed. Ginn would rock with that second year experience. For all intents and purposes, we expected things to take off.
too bad Garrard ain't Chad Pennington, Pennington had arguably his best season in 08, I think he came in 2nd in MVP voting behind Peyton.
Receivers currently on the Packer roster like Gurley or Borel. The Saints generally have a number of good players, but may be a little short with some free agency loses and players hurt. Giants might have a couple of guys available.
Garrad is more mobile (barley at this stage of his career) and has a stronger arm, that's about it. accuracy, touch, intelligence, decision making and basically all the other QB attributes, edge goes to Penny.
Wait...you mean "Garrard is better than Penny in some ways, not as good in other ways." Where have i heard that?
If you check the first post I give some info and video on Gurley and Borel. I like Borel as a second slot guy, behind Bess, or opposite him on the other side if we go four wide. Don;t like Gurley. I'll check out the Giants guys. Thanks.
I also think Garrard is less likely to come apart like wet tissue paper when a defensive lineman breathes on him.
I would have Hartline way above Camarillo, both in expectations before the season and in terms of actual talent.
Good point. I was going off Cam's ok '08 year rather than his prior expectations, but I think you're right regardless.
Want to revisit this a bit. Would love Diondre Borel (especially as he has some QB skills too, which could add to our special package capabilities) or Dale Moss.
Thought I'd bump it in case anyone wanted to look at the Packers receivers again, Tori Gurley included.
