The hard work was done by NyPhan23..Please don't thank me.

Will Update, have an appointment at 10 so there may be a little delay

    Chad Johnson ‏@ochocinco
Dolphins are the only other species besides humans who can recognize & admire themselves in the mirror... Don't let your mirror fool you...

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Dolphins are moving up their scrimmage time from 9:15 to 8:15 at Sun Life for weather considerations. Good to get work in. Bad for fans.

    Chad Johnson ‏@ochocinco
That was a warm up RT @OrlandoAloisi: I can't wait to see ur next interview, I got to put a diaper on first, almost pissed myself last time!

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Made it to Sun Life before 8:15, miraculously. Scrimmage should run until 10:30 a.m.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
If it wasn't for the ticket giveaway to the first 1,000 fans, there might not be anyone here. Pretty decent crowd, given the circumstances.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
If you haven't gotten to the stadium yet, no worries. Not sure the players are here yet. It's sunny as can be.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Jake Long and Richie Incognito lead the Miami Dolphins out of the tunnel to begin practice at Sun Life Stadium.

Second song of today's Dolphins stretch is Rick Ross "These haters can't hold me back."

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Third song is French Montana's "Don't Stop."

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Brian Hartline off to the side with Jonas Gray, both rehabbing injuries.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
#Dolphins warming up at Sun Life Stadium. Sun is absolutely brutal in the press box. I'm frying

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
I expect David Garrard will "start" at quarterback for today's scrimmage. He should get most of the first-team snaps.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Matt Moore gets the first run during 7-on-7. I'm pretty sure he'll start the first exhibition game.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Vontae Davis and Sean Smith working with the starters in "skelly" drills.

    Jesse Agler ‏@finsjesse
http://Dolphins.com writer @Andy_Kent bringing in the footlong hot dog from the concession stand...not even 9am. Impressive.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Marlon Moore had a pass from Ryan Tannehill in the breadbasket, but dropped it.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Marlon Moore just dropped a Ryan Tannehill pass during 7-on-7. Good back shoulder throw.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Ryan Tannehill shows off his arm with a laser of a sideline pass to Roberto Wallace.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Lydon Murtha is back at second-team RT today.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
CORRECTION: Lydon Murtha is working at LEFT tackle. Weird.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
    Daniel Thomas on kickoff return.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Dolphins are doing kickoffs. Julius Pruitt and Marcus Thigpen are the top returners.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Julius Pruitt and Marcus Thigpen back to return the opening "kick." Thigpen fields.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould

David Garrard starts off at QB with the first team offense against the second team defense

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould

David Garrard with a 6-yard pass to Davone Bess.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
David Garrard's unit is going against the second team defense.

    ---- UPDATE 1 ----

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Reggie Bush with a 5 yard gain.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tony McDaneil with a pass breakup. Followed by a no huddle with a false start.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Fumbled snap then Garrard to Bush.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Legedu Naanee pulled a pass out of the hands of Nolan Carrol with one hand. Pace of play has picked up considerably

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Dolphins have had four runs in a row with the ball on the 17.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Garrard with a pass on an inside slant to Chad Johnson, who drops it. Should have caught it.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Drive ends with a 35-yard field goal by Dan Carpenter.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
First drive of scrimmage, Chad Johnson drops a third-down pass inside the 5 yard line, forcing offense to kick a FG.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Scoring drive was 12 plays, 53 yards.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
First drive in, with Garrard as starter, should have been 6. Johnson dropped a TD pass. Settles for Carpenter 34 yd FG. 3-0 offense.

    Jesse Agler ‏@finsjesse
First drive of scrimmage ends with 34 (or maybe 35) yard FG from Carpenter. 85 with a drop on 3rd down. Garrard 4-6 for ~34 yds on drive.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Lamar Miller and Marcus Thigpen work as the first two kickoff returners. Miller just took his back about 50 yards

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Lamar Miller awakens the crowd with a 29-yard kickoff return.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Tyrone Culver breaks up a TD pass to Chad @ochocinco and forces the Dolphins to kick a field goal.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
The KR battle between Lamar Miller and \Marcus Thigpen will be fun this preseason. Both have been impressive.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore leading the second-team offense. Lamar Miller is the running back.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Marshall in at corner with first-team defense. V. Davis on bench.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Second team defense, with Matt Moore, versus the first-team D goes three-and-out. Moore two incompletions.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Three-and-out for the second-team O, with Matt Moore at the helm. 0-for-2 on drive. Granted, it was against 1st-tm D.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore three-and-out after a Lamar Miller run, an incomplete pass under pressure, and a pass breakup oin Charles Clay by Kevin Burnett.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore starts the next drive.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Someone asked me today which undrafted guy I think will make the team. I'm going with Josh Samuda, working at backup center

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Keep in mind David Garrard was going against the 2nd team defense. Matt Moore has the 2nd team O-line and 1st team defense.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore completes a pass to Michael Egnew for 9 yards, then same play to Jeron Mastrud to pick up a first down.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Koa Misi with a blind side sack untouched.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Matt Moore's second-team O picks up a first down but punts again versus starting D. #QBjobslippingfromgrasp.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore starts the third series. Garrard had started the first. No Ryan Tannehill to this point.

    Miami Dolphins ‏@MiamiDolphins
Another stand by the Dolphins' first-team defense, followed by a 57-yard punt by Brandon Fields. #FinsCamp

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Matt Moore and second team O goes three-and-out vs. first-team D again. Great rush by D. Murtha is NOT a LT.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
In three drives, Moore is 4 of 9 for 21 yards, according to me very rough stats.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
RT @davidcanter: Fans in (Sun Life Stadium) stands chanting we want Ryan (Tannehill). Incredible.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Probably 2,000-3,000 fans in attendance #Tannchise RT@davidcanter: Fans in stands chanting we want Ryan. Incredible.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
And now Ryan Tannehill will get his first live scrimmage action at the stadium he's supposed to own in the future.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Tannehill going in with the first team offense. Fans cheer loudly

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Ryan Tannehill comes out to loud cheers from the Sun Life Stadium crowd.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill will guide the first-team offense vs. second-team d.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Ryan Tannehill on play action pass deep, loud cheers, just misses Legedu Naanee diving.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Tannehill goes deep on his second pass, too. This time Ocho draws a pass interference

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill throws deep right to Chad Johnson, who is pulled down by Jonathan Wade and flagged on the play. Also holding call on the offense.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Koa Misi (on a blit) and Jared Odrick did great work rushing last series.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill completes his first pass, a 5-yarder to Chad Johnson.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill completes a 4-yard pass to Davone Bess, 1-yard short of the first down. Dolphins punt.

    Jesse Agler ‏@finsjesse
On 3rd and 5, Tannehill zips one to Bess, but a gain of just four. Punt on his first possession.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Still have yet to see any "good on good" in this scrimmage. IEach drive is 1's vs 2's

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill comes out again with 1st team.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehil with a bullet on the inside slant by Chad Johnson.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Tannehill goes three-in-out (plus offsetting penalties) in first drive (with the 1s). Play selection: Four passes, zero runs.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
I'm very impressed with Ryan Tannehill's drive right now. He looks amazing from an accuracy standpoint when he's on the move.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill rapidly moving the offense on three straight completions followed by a Lamar Miller run.

    Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly
Ryan Tannehill is working against the second team defense.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Dolphins second-team D is a slice of swiss cheese. Guys uncovered. No rush. Just gave up TD pass Tannehill to Fasano.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill with a play action right lofts a touchdown pass to Fasano, loud cheers for the first TD of the day.

    ---- UPDATE 2 ----

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Touchdown Dolphins ..... for them. Tannehill floats a perfect pass over the LB to Fasano on the run for a 25 yard touchdown

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
RT @finsjesse: Tannehill 26-yd TD pass to Fasano on a play action roll out to the right. Looked like broken play, h

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill completed all five passes on the 6 play, 70-yard touchdown drive capped with a TD pass to Anthony Fasano.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill is 7-of-8 passing for 77 yds and a touchdown in two drives

    david canter ‏@davidcanter
Dolphins looking at Matt Moore rep wise more than any QB. Think they have serious questions about his status here

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore drive started at the 26, and another three-and-out. Dan Carpenter hits a 40-yard field goal.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
David Garrard gets his second possession now starting from the 26.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Garrard: minus 1-yard pass to Clay, imcomplete, deep pass to Chad Johnson (15), pass to Naanee (3), sack by Spitler, pbk by Culver.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Garrard, back with the 1s, is nearly picked by Tyrone Culver in the back of the end zone. Another FG by Carpenter, this one from 27.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Matt Moore's saving grace so far is he's facing starting D while playing with backups. Garrard, Tannehill playing w/ starters vs. backup D.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
In good news, Dan Carpenter hits his third field goal, a 27-yarder.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
    Ryan Tannehill now out there.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Now Tannehill is with the backup O versus starting D on Inside 20 work. Different story. Incomplete, short complete, sack., FG.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Dan Carpenter 51-yard field goal attempt tipped and wide left.

    Adam Beasley ‏@AdamHBeasley
Shocker: Tannehill finds it much easier to move the ball against the second-team defense than the first.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Tannehill against the 1s: Incomplete pass into double coverage almost INT; compelte to 35 (0); fumbled snap, Wake sack; 51-yd FG wide left.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Goal line drills now ... And the Dolphins pass on first down. Matt Moore incomplete.

    Ben Volin ‏@BenVolinPBP
Matt Moore finally getting reps with the 1's in goal line drills. He's gotten by far the most work today

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Dolphins working on goal line offense for the first time in training camp.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
Matt Moore finds Anthony Fasano over the middle for a TD.

    Armando Salguero ‏@ArmandoSalguero
Matt Moore throws a 3-yad TD to Anthony Fasano on a quick slant.

    Izzy Gould ‏@IzzyGould
David Garrard on his first play from the 2, a TD pass to the left to wide open Legedu Naanee.

From everything I read, it sounded like Moore played a lot with the 2nd team Offense against the 1st string Defense, which had some to do with his struggles.

Tannehill and Garrard both took a lot of snaps with first team Offense against 2nd team Defense.

I got the impression that the 1st team Defense is WAY ahead of the 2nd team Defense as it should be. But the drop off sounds a little too significant. Could be this way with every NFL team though.

-Still great to hear Tannehill having a great day.
-So good to finally read about a training camp where the offense isn't miles behind the defense.
-Love the obsession with passing the ball and focusing on getting that part of the offense up to speed. Seems like we finally have a staff that understands what it takes to succeed in today's NFL. I get the feeling that they know that the running game will follow

The most interesting thing I saw in Joe Philbin's after scrimmage press conference was when a reporter asked if he has reached the point where he's going to start giving one guy more snaps, etc...I expected Philbin to dismiss that but he was honest and said yes we might be, we have to review the film and hold a personnel meeting but yes we might be reaching that point.

The guy is almost honest to a fault. And the way we've come to expect the usual coach speak out of any of our coaches, I'd say it's a refreshing trait from the new HC.

Thought this was coming as I mentioned in Club, the only thing that can overturn it is probably poor preseason performance meets outstanding performance on the 2nd or 3rd teams.

I think it's hard to draw assumptions from pass/run ratio or stuff like that. Maybe a scrimmage is different, but they are still installing offense/defense stuff. Certain days are going to focus on certain packages. The other day Philbin mentioned they were doing Bear fronts on defense, and it sounded like offense was doing fullback stuff.

Unless the passing game is dominant or really ahead of the running game, the Dolphins are probably going to be pretty balanced. Mike Sherman's offense draws a lot from Shanahan-style WCOs. It's likely to be balanced, and the pass game is going to use a lot of play action playing off the run game.

    What are your indications, CK?

Interesting how he was candid, but there still is a little bit of coach-speak. I wonder how this will affect the competition if the players catch wind of the comments.

This training camp has gone pretty swiftly. With the new CBA on mandated scheduling, etc., I can imagine the pressure for staff to make a decision early so that person (in this case, the QB) can get the necessary snaps to build that cohesiveness and rapport.

With this new CBA, my eyes will be peeled to see if it affects level of competition and injuries (if at all).

I can finally say I was there. I know Moore was against 1st team defense however.....Moore looked like crap (Devlin made more plays). Tannehill and Lamar Miller really showed flashes. Miller plays fast and fluid! Tannehill seems to play it less safe than Moore and Garrard, and was accurate. First play was a beautiful bomb that was a fingernail from being caught by Naanee.

Will make mention of Daniel Thomas as well. He was driving piles hard today! Made about 10yrds out of 2 on one play. Practicing very hard.

Fuller and Naanee are getting open. Was very impressed with them even w/o the catches. Egnew took a shot today on the sidelines from a LBer (not sure who), and took it like a man which pleased me. Wake and Odrick were bustin through like usual (2nd team Oline).

Side note: Jake Long and Paul Solai extremely friendly signing autographs. Great display of kindness and patience from them both.

I can't recall. A lot of line up changes through out the day. Sorry!

""There is absolutely no doubt Tannehill was the most impressive QB today. He was calling audibles at the line, ran a no huddle & kept his eyes down field. Tannehill looked real good.

Garrard moves the chains, but he is very Pennington-like and enjoys checking down way too much."

Here is Ryan Tannehill's beauty of a TD throw and catch to Anthony Fasano. This is really a great play, on both players' part. Fast forward to 24 seconds and again at the 1:20 mark (although the whole video is worth watching).

    Heck of a play.

That was Derrick Shelby giving chase to Ryan on the scramble. Shelby did that a lot at Utah. He put a lot of pressure on QBs and was quick to react to play developments, rollouts and scrambles and whatnot. Quick twitch guy. Very quick on the trigger when a QB is throwing the ball, gets air and knocks the pass down. Had an unusually high number of batted passes. Thing is, he's not fast, a 4.85 type guy, so it's no wonder Tannehill pretty comfortably dusted him in the race to the sideline, so that he could slow down and zero in on Fasano. Omar Kelly said that Shelby had at least one sack and several other pressures today. He's a guy I wouldn't want to cut, personally.

I don't see why they would. Going fast pace in practice doesn't mean you always have to go fast pace during games.

I would think pretty soon Garrard is about to start taking the lion's share of reps with Tannehill second and Moore behind him...but who knows.

Just saw this. I'm glad he's doing well. I made it a mission to try and figure out the DE position behind Wake, Westerman and Vernon...so I took closer looks at guys like Jarrell Root, Jacquies Smith and Derrick Shelby. Shelby was clearly the most interesting football player, to me.

I was there and thought it was a good throw, but I didn't realize how good of a throw until seeing the video. Not only did he make a great play with his feet and turn a broken play into a TD (which I knew already), but he the throw was surgical how he dropped it over the defender. And he did it on the run.

Moore was just off on many of his throws and not even close on some. He had open receivers.

Really nice route and touchdown catch by Rishard Matthews at 0:44 into that highlights video. Pat Devlin threw a strike on that one.

What were your thoughts on PD coming out of college? He seems to have put up some decent numbers.
