Tannehill cannot put pads on until wednesday. Which doesn't matter as much because QBs can't get hit.
This is what I've been talking about. Why should we NOT expect him to be impressive? Why should we NOT expect him to make a serious run at the job? Do I think Garrard will ultimately win the job? Sure. But I'd be disappointed if Ryan trailed the pack period, let alone by a great distance.
That's one view. I want to read more from other reporters and especially Phins.com guys who see it. Good stuff if true. We all know he's a rook so I for one am not expecting Stella reports on Tanny. Small steps. Imo Ryan has to get plays, timing and the general speed down. I'm prepared to read he's got limitations right now. We've waited long enough for a Franchise QB. Baking a cake is all about the ingredients, sticking it in the oven is the easy part.
Agreed about impressing but don't forget a lot of ppl regarding 'experts' said he was a work in progress. There's a personal incentive right there. I hope Tanny shoves it down the doubters throat and then some.
His eagerness and willingness to get here, and his humility in the approach all remind me of Cam Newton a bit. I like this kid, and am hoping like heck he keeps on impressing us. Sent from my iPhone
I think most people feel that way (not saying I do) because he was only a starter for a year and a half. Plus all during the draft Tannehill and "raw" and "need some time to develop" almost always were mentioned together.
I am glad to see that the eight pick in the 2012 draft throws the ball better than two QB's who would be no better than backups on every other team in the NFL. Of course throwing a decent pass doesn't make someone a quality QB in the NFL. Tannehill has to show that he can actually make the plays when the game is on the line. He was not very effective with the game on the line in the fourth quarter in college. That is where a QB is truly judged and Tannehill has a lot to prove if he expects to be the long term answer for the Dolphins at the QB position. The fact that the Dolphins front office didn't want him to sign a contract unless he agreed to the the offset provision tells me all I need to know about the doubts the organization have in him over the long term. I'm still hoping that the Dolphins do what is necessary after the 2012 season to move up in the 2013 draft and select Matt Barkley.
I know he can't get hit with pads, Just want to see him progree with the pads on and see him adjust to speed of the game.
Another thing I liked about Tannehill is during his interview with the press they asked him about what he needs to get better at. Rather than saying a generic rookie thing like, "Uh, I need to, you know, work at my overall game and just get better each day." he said, "...being better with my feet, stepping up in the pocket, a little faster on my drops." He gives an answer with 3 specific things he wants to work on which means he has been thinking about those things he needs to improve on. Couple that with his hard working label and I expect him to develop pretty well.
Am I the only one who hates the helmet/facemask he's wearing? Only Manning can pull that off. To me it makes him look soft, the helmet that RGIII or Brady wears looks so much more bad ***.
Holy hell! Go root for the Jets if you like being miserable. I can pretty much speak for everyone here when I say your act is beyond old. Putting a negative spin on Tannehills good first day of practice is just pathetic and has agenda written all over it.
Glad to see your excited and optimistic to see what we can do this season. Come on man the offset language "shows you" what Ireland really thinks about Tannehill ? He drafted a QB in the first round, you honestly think he's doubting his ability because of this little contract snag. You're getting ridiculous.
I would hate to see MMoore go,but if Tanny continues to impress I say let's see what we can get for him.
I was REALLY excited about Henne going into the 2010 season. Man, I thought he was the one. Tannehill I'm very confident about too because he has all the tools. Something Henne, or anyone else we've had since Marino, didn't have.
i dont know why he'd have to root for the jets to be miserable, rooting for miami for the last decade has been pretty depressing in itself.
There's a fan like jw on every single board. Someone who is negative about every last thing the team does.
That was it though. In 2009 he did that repeatedly. That Jets Monday night game and the Pats home game were special. 2 big late drives to win the game. That's what clinched it for me. That he was going to be the QB we've been looking for. It just never worked out.
