Marlins over reacted to Off season and made bad decisions - they faced regular season adversity - and want to change in a big way again, and move lots of bodies....bad decisions leading to bad decisions (if indeed they continue beyond the DET trade). Its not hard to understand. Change for the sake of change its seems.

LOL...hell a dummy like Rosenthal can see it.

He is just saying that Loria spent money is unlike him....now that being said I dont disagree with him spending money....the Bell contract should have never happened...

But I like the Reyes, and Burhele signings.....however what Mr. Hunt is also saying is dont compound that one crazy signing by dumping HR, or JJ for peanuts either...

Hanley Ramirez to Dogders for Eovaldi and Mcough. Didn't even get Zach Lee. Trade sucks.

Josh Johnson is also on the trading block. Didnt Loria say something about crap like this ending once we got a new stadium?

So these guys deal with a locker room cancer by sending him to the best situation possible and getting nothing in return.

I knew they would get not much in return...he is owed 30M+ left on the contract AND they didnt want him....

Baffling as to why they would trade him....for that...just keep the kid...

Holy **** looking deeper at this trade, what the fu$k are the Marlins doing??

Smh.....enjoy the Heat cuz the other organizations in Miami are clueless......honestly the Yankees should have offered A-Rod AND paid 15M per year to the Marlins every year...probably would have been a better deal...

And all signs have pointed toward JJ not being on the block. I'm not sure why his name continues to be brought up.

The only way they trade is if they get top shelf pitching in return.

Hanley's contract is not what I'd call bad. And they absolutely wanted Hanley. This seems to me like the organization doesn't know why the team flopped and are just reverting to instinct.

They've done enough with pitching. They need bats now.

If you ever doubted that character counts when building a team, Hanley is evidence that it does. The guy is just an *******. So much so that they decided to sell him off for peanuts just to be rid of him.

Now...a GOOD organization should be able to fix such a guy, or not care about payroll restrictions when trading a good asset.

They have reason to trade Hanley and they had reason to trade Anibal (FA after the season, might as well get something for him).

I imagine this was the best deal for Hanley they could get without picking up some of the tab left on his contract.

As usual, the Marlins chose finances over solid baseball moves.

At what point do Beinfest/Hill and their scouts get some pressure? They have lost every major trade they've done recently. They essentially got nothing for a future HOF in Cabrera. Nothing for a legitimate all star in Uggla, and now very little for another legitimate all start talent in Hanley.

The Cabrera trade wasn't bad on paper. It just didn't work out.

And they got Infante and Dunn for Uggla. That's not nothing. (Btw, Uggla has been dog**** this year and is only getting older and MUCH richer).

    Just saying!!!!

The Dodgers have acquired Hanley Ramirez and Randy Choate from the Marlins for Nathan Eovaldi and a minor leaguer, reports Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports (on Twitter). The minor leaguer is right-hander Scott McGough according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, and Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times says that Miami is not sending any money to the Dodgers (Twitter links).

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Look I get Hanley didn't lead us to the playoffs, and was an *******. But you have to get more than that.....you just have to. Unbelievable.

If we don't get Josh Hamilton this offseason then FML

The Cabrera trade was simply bad on all levels, from inception to execution.

First, the guy was already tracking as a hall of fame talent at the time of the trade. You don't trade that because the guy gained a few pounds one off season or because he's eventually going to be expensive.

And if you are going to trade him, you need at least one major leaguer, preferably of all star or near all star quality, plus top prospects. The Marlins didn;t get that. They got good prospects who ended up sucking and they could've signed Cabrera for what they eventually paid Hanley.

Now, getting Olt would be perhaps the best outcome if you do ship off JJ....

no it wouldn't. JJ is one of the few guys they have that is at good value. Poor roster construction.

I don't know why everyone is shook up about the trade of Hanley. Heres a guy that the past 2 seasons has been average offensively and below average defensively. Not only that, hes owed 14+ the next few years and is a problem in the clubhouse. Dodgers are picking up the contract and Marlins recieved Eovaldi, who I think is legit. He will be in the rotation next year.

Marlins did fine with that trade. Im sure people around the league feel just like I do, old Hanley aint coming back. This is his value all things considered. Marlins did fine.

This is why I love the Miami Heat. They have one bad contract, and that bad contract was the MVP of the game that clinched the title. The main thing being that when building a roster, you need to be forward thinking and know exactly WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE.

The Marlins just throw **** on a wall and hope it sticks. If they trade JJ, there is no plan.

Marlins trade Hanley for a bag of ships.
Marlins trade Anibal for a bag of stale gum.

The ownership, FO, and manager are a joke. And yet they wonder why they dont have a good fanbase and have horrible attendance. They make it impossible to root for the team. I feel bad for Marlins fans, I really do. And it makes me eternally grateful for being a Yankee fan.

    This.

There is no scenario where trading JJ is a positive for the Marlins. I can't believe we're even talking about it, because I can't believe the Marlins are (or were) thinking about it. That's just throwing crap against the wall, you're right.

I wasn't hot on firing Hill and/or Beinfest, but now I'm warming up to the concept.

MLB should force the Rays and Marlins to switch locations. That way atleast the good Rays organization has a nice ballpark to play in. the Marlins don't deserve anything nice.

You are still thinking this FO and Ownership will make smart decisions....I am already at the point where I am talking about best result. Shipping off JJ is standard operating procedure for Loria (if you could only TRADE him)....getting Olt would be the best return of all the rumors being tossed around.

This is a bad FO and the baseball world knows it and takes advantage of that fact.
