Ledger signed a 2 film deal so you can bet anything that he would have been in the 3rd, even if it was a "Scarecrow type" cameo. The Joker is obviously Batman's most popular villain (and probably the most popular comic villain too) so to not have him in a 3rd film, especially after the fantastic job he did in TDK would have been foolish and I'm sure WB would force Nolan to use him if it came down to it.
I understand the thought process behind it and if they are going to do a "pass the torch" it would make sense but I just don't see Nolan going in that direction. I think having JGL as the Batman Beyond character at the end of the film would completely suck. Plus I don't think mainstream audiences know what Batman Beyond is all about, the more I think about it, the more I just hate the idea. Sorry not your fault, but I hope your wrong. TDKR is basically Nolan's version of The Dark Knight Returns. And yes I agree about separate universes. Nolan has stated that many times.
lol Jesus, nerd. All I was saying from the begining is that the toy, the story w/Bruce being older, and everything else w/JGL seems like they're trying to pass the torch in some way. Stop trying to nitpick everything. I've never really watched the Batman Beyond show and I personally think it'd be be dumb to just add that directly. But I could see Nolan taking that idea in some form and apply it like he's done w/every other character.
AMC Theaters are listing TDKR's run time as 2 hours and 45 minutes. But take that as rumor at this point as WB hasn't officially released that info yet. The movie is PG-13, like the others were.
Here's a link to the new footage shown at the MTV Movie awards: http://batman-news.com/2012/06/03/new-the-dark-knight-rises-footage-mtv-movie-awards-video/ Man I can't wait for this movie to come out.
Yah. I think I watched it 10 consecutive times. I'm enjoying the fact that we have seen a lot of footage but nothing spoiled.
Nice, there's no way I'd be able to stay up that late for a midnight showing. I'm planning on going to a Friday morning showing. Unfortunately tickets aren't available in my area for them yet. I've heard that there might be 3:00am IMAX showings. Ticket sales have been pretty strong all day. Wonder if this movie has a shot to beat The Avengers. I'd be shocked if it didn't beat 150 million first weekend sales. EDIT: I got my tickets for 11:45am on Friday.
Got my tickets for the midnight showing. Also got tickets for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The theater is playing them before TDKR. Almost 9 hours of Batman. It's going to be epic.
A 4th trailer for TDKR was just released, sorry don't have a link I saw it on my iPhone. Shows some new footage as well as some old footage from TV spots. Bane has the line of the trailer though (if you watch it you know exactly what it is). From the 5 trailers, TV spots, interviews and pictures I can't see how this movie won't be flat out awesome and we have seen so much of the movie in clips yet still have zero idea of what's going on or what to expect. This is just great. Enjoy the ride because July 20th is only a month away!
Spoiler That proves to me Bane is part or was part of the League of Shadows. That's why Raj has a cameo and Talia is in it. Its also obvious to me Batman doesn't die, he just comes back.
Yeah I would have to agree with you there. I mean since production began Nolan has stated that TDKR brings the triology full circle and connects back to Batman Begins, the only way that can happen is further exploring his parents and how their death changed him and to go back to Ras/League of Shadows. Bane has been rumored to be a part of the League since forever, I think him knowing Bruce's true identity as well as his plan to destroy Gotham seems a lot like Ras' plan to destroy Gotham (although Bane's plan is much bigger). And of course they already signed an actor to play a young Ras, perhaps as a flashback to show him training Bane? And again you have the Miranda Tate character that's been shown I believe only 2 times in all of the trailers and TV shows (one time at the "Ball" smiling at Bruce and another kissing Bruce) you have to wonder there's much more to her character as an actress like that wouldn't sign on to plan a small part like that. There's a reason why she's not being shown much. Of course there have also been leaked set photos of Miranda Tate that show she's not just a Bruce Wayne groupie. I don't think anyone is going to be shocked if Miranda Tate ends up being Talia or if we get the rumored Ras (Liam Nesson) cameo, and I think Nolan knows that, that's why I think the viewers are in for a bunch of other twists and turns.
I give you and Devilfin a lot of credit, as much as I love the Batman character and Nolan films, I don't think there's any way I would be able to sit through all 3 and watch them back to back to back. 9 hours is a long time to be in one place at one time, I think I'd hit a wall half way through TDK.
I'm kind of worried about it. I'm usually pretty tired of sitting for 2 hours. But I'm counting on an adrenaline boost when TDKR starts. That should distract from my *** being numb.
I can do it at home, but not in a theater. Hell, I've watched all 3 Godfathers back to back to back. I've done that more than once.
About two weeks ago I watched Batman Begins and TDK back to back, just after the first time Batman meets The Joker in Bruce's apartment in TDK, ADD started to kick in and I started going on my phone and computer and I stopped paying attention until the transporting Dent scene. I think if anything being in a theater would be better for me because it would force me to sit in one place and not have anything else around to distract me. Hopefully the theater gives you a good 15 minutes to half an hour to get up, move around a bit and reengerize. And watching all 3 Godfathers back to back to back is boarder line insane but also impressive. I know a few people that went to the theater for The Avenger marathon showing Iron Man 1 & 2, Captain America, Thor and The Hulk and then The Avengers, they were at the theater for a good 12 hours.
I could do the Nolan Batman marathon. But that's not 12 hours or so. Wow to anyone that pulled off the Avengers marathon.
It's the perfect trilogy to have. You watch the first two movies, then use the third movie DVD to do coke off of... What?
People are already starting to see the movie at private screenings and press screenings so spoilers will be (and have) started to hit the internet already. Remember if you want to be spoiled by all means go for it but I highly doubt any of us will be seeing this movie before July 20th, so make sure to put up spoiler tags in this thread. After the 20th it's fair game and reader beware but I know I personally don't want to spoiled (major spoilers) going into this movie, unlike for Batman Begins where I read the scripit beforehand.
This is the most "un-spoiled" I've ever been going into a movie I am anticipating this much. Nolan has done a beautiful job of filling the trailers and TV spots with eye candy to build anticipation but not give away a damn thing. My god, I can't wait. I had to bow to previous arrangements and get tickets to the Noon showing on the Saturday. Presale, reserved seating at IMAX, what an AWESOME concept.
Regarding spoilers, yeah same here with Batman Begins I read that leaked scripit before I saw the movie and I knew various things about TDK, nothing major but still things you wouldn't have known if you simply watched TV spots and trailers. I've done my best to keep away from the spoilers for this one for the most part outside of a few new releases about possible cameos etc. I definitely wanted to stay clear from the ending. I'm sure Nolan has a lot of surprises for this one.
then DO NOT read the review over at the Guardian.UK.. was filled with spoilers but the reviewer didn't preface the fact that there were spoilers present. DO read the comments though.. OMG. lol
http://news.yahoo.com/rotten-tomatoes-suspends-comments-dark-knight-003301147.html cant please everyone!
I will never understand why people care what critics think of movies and why they would go out of their way to knock the critic if he/she doesn't like it (especially before the majority of people knocking the critic hasn't even seen the movie yet!). I like a ton of movies that critics hate and hate a ton of movies critics love. If critics give this movie an F and I love it then who cares.
