IMO this is the question that should be asked when considering a uniform change: "If a Dolphins fan were to wake up from a 20 year coma, would he/she immediately recognize the new uniform?" If the answer is "I'm not sure", "I don't know", or "maybe", then the change is too drastic. Miami has bragging rights to the NFL's only undefeated team. Why anyone would want to deviate from a constant reminder of that is beyond me. It's bad enough we muddled it with dark navy, especially the shading of the letters. Uniforms are already changing w/o us actually having to change them; technology makes sure of that. Case in point: the Cleveland Browns. Not much has changed outside of technology. Now they're aesthetically pleasing but remain highly identifiable as "Cleveland Browns". Sometimes less is more. Another example of less is more: last year's classic, seamless, 49ers uni compared to their eye-distracting, new-age look of the late 90's through '08. A uni should contain 3 colors, and that's it---- both of the team's identifiable colors [aqua & orange] and white (and perhaps introduce a very light gray on occasion since it's a part of the dolphin's natural color). A slight tweak to our uniform of the 70's made using today's technology would be outstanding. Original aqua-colored jersey, white only numbers & letters, orange striping & Dolphin logo around the sleeves for accent. White pants with an aqua-orange-aqua stripe. Simple and clean, not convoluted. How can we not want a uniform that's more reminiscent of the below pic?
I would be in favor of a change in the helmet color, but I would prefer more of a grey than a silver. I see the silver, and the orange for that matter, as too bright. It's like they're trying to emphasize the South Beach glitz and I don't see the team wanting to move in that direction.
I kind of like this logo, but it needs some tweaks. The Dolphin should stay aqua colored. I would also make him a little more vertical and remove what looks like a bump on his head. I like that he looks less cartoony than the others. I also would not be in favor of having it say "Miami" on the helmet. I don't tend to like letters on the helmets.
I'm more of a traditionalist, and still prefer a return to the original logo. Thats not to suggest I ever found the dolphin with a helmet very appealing. Maybe remove the helmet, but still preserve the symbolic M. ...maybe not.
Notice the 49ers had the sense enough to get rid of 3D numbers. How come Miami didn't get the memo? 3D numbers should have died the second the clock struck midnight in the year 2000.
I'm in agreement with you. A uniform should be a max of 3 colors, most look better with just 2. The shadow numbers are atrocious. Back to the 49ers, its my pet peeve with them since they have 4 colors. Nothing in the 49ers uniform should have black in it. Not the shoes, and the black outline on the logo needs to go as well.
The top one would make a great uniform patch, or even a logo to go on the field but not helmet logo. Dolphins have one of those historic logos, you dont change it for a logo with a city in the background. You can update it slightly but it needs to be largely throwback. I get it that Dolphins fans want this badass uniform but the reality is your uniform can only be so badass when your team has pastel colors lol
Ugh, god no... Please no. It looks like the Seattle Seahawks old helmet with the dolphins all stretched out. Having the logo off center like that is ugly. Beauty is about symmetry. And the primary helmet color? Hell no. It looks like Boise State's but even worse. Also, what is the dolphin actually doing? Swimming/flying though the sun? It looks ridiculous... That helmet and logo design is immensely improved by 1. Making the primary helmet white (would like to see what the orange face mask looks like on the white before I co-sign it. Also would like to see white on white for comparison) 2. Taking that dolphin logo and positioning the dolphin as he is now on our current uniforms (the dolphin jumping in mid-air/half circle shape) 3. Adding his little helmet (I like it). I'm not bothered by the "cartoonish" logo. Finheaven's logo is pretty beast too. The other end of the spectrum is much, much, worse, IMO. The realistic grey dolphin logo's are pretty trash.
Not trying to hate or anything, just trying to get a fact out there (that I found pretty interesting). The Browns have long since had a legal agreement that they would never change their name or their uniforms. I read this somewhere a while back and thought it was really interesting, thought I would share it with everyone.

This is what I'm talking about, this is perfect IMO, I remember a recent thread where we had to get the most old school preservists to keep an open mind...That's all I'm talking about Oz, MrC.. Be honest and open minded, and look at that bad *** uniform??
I still hate the idea of a logo change. It actually pisses me off. There's nothing wrong with our current logo. We've had the same basic design since the team was born. Aqua dolphin, helmet, orange sun. WHY CHANGE IT? Either leave it alone or go back to what it was. I've seen a lot of fan redesigns over the years and they've all been horrible.
Even our helmet has been white since day 1, and now people want to make it silver, orange, aqua, black, etc. Same basic design and uniform since the mid 60's and now people want something completely different and extreme. JUST LEAVE IT ALONE!
The logo looks like it did not change. The colors are screwy but the design of the uniform is ok. Put a throwback logo on the one on the far right
Love the grey alternative..wouldn't change a thing about any of those especially the middle one..old school vrs new school, they even have the old school logo for y'all...
The old flat white was fine. At some point the switched to the glitter helmets and I have hated them ever since. I hate glitter anything, and our entire uniform is about the sparkles. Pants glitter, aqua jerseys shimmer in the light and the white helmets sparkle in the sun. Hate it all. Plus that silver helmet has the blue stripe and that sucks as well.
Not true. I believe the Jets, Steelers, Falcons, Redskins, Browns and Bengals are all flat colors. Jets might not be, but it looks like it: The Rams might even be a flat blue. Hard to tell though. Buffalo was a flat red and is now a flat white. Colts are a flat white helmet as well. I believe the Cardinals are flat white also.
