The real issue, is that no one is taking a pay cut in order to come together (something Bosh and James I'm pretty sure did, and maybe even Wade too). Obviously Joe Johnson is incapable of taking a pay cut, but Deron Williams doesn't need to take the MAX, and neither did Melo (who I'm pretty sure did, not sure about Amare either).

Wade, James, Bosh and Miller all did. Then the first 3 took even less than was originally planned to keep Haslem, who also took like a 10m dollar paycut to stay. Battier also did.

Crazy how no one talks about that. Everyone is always wanting their athletes to take a little less for a chance to win and then three superstars in their prime finally did, as well as three key role players, and they were vilified for it. "Wasn't the right way" or whatever bs.

Melo and Amare took the max which they didnt need to. That was a very unselfish thing LeBron, Bosh and Wade did to make it work.

Getting Nash though while it makes the NYK no worse defensively then if they had Lin in there, it does make them a much better offensive team. They need someone who doenst need to shoot to be effective and who can make his teammates better. They need shooting so when teams collapse on Melo and Amare they can make them pay. They need a floor leader to dictate pace and who makes good decisions. Say what you will about his age 12.7ppg and 10.5APG last year say the guy can still play. Very happy to see NYK hopefully getting Nash (still not definite...) If they do decide to match on Fields offer sheet, I can see Fields being better off for it as well...

Not to rain on your parade, but I just saw that the Suns have agreed to a S&T with the Lakers for future picks.

I know, I just spent the last 10 minutes crying  lol.

Not me dude, Glen Grunwald. I would have had this signed sealed and delivered yesterday.

Oh well, NYK hang on to Iman Shumpert..not the worst consolation prize even if hes hurt.

This whole big 3 thing has me thinking if during the 90s, Reggie Miller got together with Stockton and Malone would've worked against the Bulls.

He's a friggin' idiot, so probably not. FWIW, he didn't even want Chicago despite the Bulls having the pieces to make a trade and having the chance to play with Rose.

I'm not quite sure how the Suns get the Lakers 1st round pick in 2013 as part of the Nash deal. Well, they may indeed be getting the Lakers pick, but it might not be 24th pick like it should be (merely guessing the area they will finish). The Cavs (as part of the Ramon Sessions trade) have the ability to swap their 2013 1st rd pick or the Heats 2013 1st rd pick (which the Cavs possess) with the Lakers' pick if they want to. I imagine the Suns are aware of this, but none of the articles I have seen that talk about the trade mention it.

Howard wants to be The Man in a big market, like the NBA of 20 years ago when you had talented guys who couldn't win a title by themselves (*cough*Barkley*cough).

Not counting sign & trades, if Howard played out this year, how many teams would even have the money available to give him a max deal? 3? (Atlanta, Cleveland, Orlando all could I'm certain)

No idea. I haven't seen an updated 2013 cap listing that includes this free agency period. Before this period, the Nets, Cavs, Suns, and Blazers could have.

Doubt it. He has made it pretty clear he doesn't want to play with Kobe. Cant blame him honestly and I'm glad he doesnt want to go there. I'm tired of all the great centers playing for LA. Make a name on your own big fella...

Anyone else read Kurt Helin's literary boner over this Nash to LA trade? I know he's a former Lakers blogger and therefore a fan, but the idea that the Lakers made a team that competes with Miami and OKC is silly. They made the west coast version of the Celtics in a race to the tar pits.

From what I have read on the Nash thing, he (Nash) made it clear being near his kids was 1st priority (they are in Phoenix, and aren't moving), and playing for a ring was 2nd.....

So if you read between the lines.........The Kincks never had a shot, and he used them...

The Knicks used themselves. Once again, a delusional media convinces a gullible fanbase that they had a shot for a player who was never going there.

Atlanta is the clear cut best destination with cap space now.

A front line of D12, Al Horford, and Josh Smith is the best front line in basketball...till the Heat go to their LBJ at PF lineup of course...

You dont think Magic would be asking for Horford in return to play center? I cant see magic making the trade without Horford.

If Beas plays motivated than he can be an elite Forward.
Its not a question of talent for him, its his drive.
