Any chance he can play center, or does this mean that Bosh is going to be in the big man in the middle for a while?

I thought he could play either spot based on what I read about him (he's 6'11"). I've not seen anything but highlights though (and read a good bit), so don't go strictly by what I'm saying.

I think the Heat did great on that trade, nothing beats picking up a future first.

I think the Hornets would have been better taking a true point guard in Marshall. He almost averaged 10 assists a game.

Not a huge fan of trading out of the 1st just because of money reasons but It's hard to argue with pat. This honestly ends up being not having the guaranteed 2yr salary a 1st round pick is granted.

Maybe but they can always flip Gordon in a sign and trade or down the road. Right now they just need talent. They got an elite level talent in Rivers imo and obviously Davis. Great draft any way you look at it. Those are two cornerstones for the next 10-12 years imo.

Austin Rivers is no elite talent. Another Lou Williams for sure. Absolutely dumb move to take him over Jeremy Lamb as far as I'm concerned.

I disagree. hes a lot smarter then Williams, better basketball IQ and overall more talented. Hes Lou Williams with a brain and on steroids. Im not a fan of Duke players and I usually do go for UConn players being a Big East fan (not anymore now that Syracuse has moved...) but i like both but I give a slight edge to Rivers.

Austin Rivers is all kinds of terrible Boik. The guy averages more TO's than Assists and he played in a 1-4 system!

he is gonna be a turnover machine in the NBA.

    As for the Heat...

they get Jarvis Varnado back from Europe this year...he is a Serge Ibaka clone on film. (All-time blocks leader in college). He also beefed up, as he is 6'-10" and 245 lbs. now.

Hamilton will get a summer league run...to stick..if not...it will be europe for him.

Varnado didn't make the Heat before, I wouldnt be confident he will this time even if they could use a shot blocker.

A 1st round pick in the high 20s wouldn't have been worth spending (valuable) money on either.

That's what Heat fans don;t understand. You want to chase the Ray Allen's of the world? Taking up roster spots with guaranteed contracts is the sure fire way to kill your flexibility.

The Heat will go hunting in the 1st round next year when Mike Miller goes off the books. then they can use two salary spots. One for a 1st rounder, and another for another Mini-MLE.

This is called good cap management.

Alot more size in next year's draft as well. Even at 16-18, can probably grab a decent 7 footer. Being mid-round also gives you some more flexibility to move up, particularly with small contracts like Anthony expiring in 2015

Varnado was like 210 lbs in 2010. He weighed less than Wade.

and don't underestimate Jarvis Varnado. The Heat has expressly kept his rights for two years, and he has gotten bigger and stronger in the process.

The Heat will have to use the 76ers 1st rd pick next year (if my understanding is right, which it may not be) since they don't have their own 1st rd pick next year, and you can't go 2 straight years without a 1st rd pick.

Although, it may be moot if it wouldn't be considered 2 yrs in a row if they give the Heat credit for selecting Moultrie.

Heat doesn't have a choice. The only way we don't get pick is if Sixers are in the lottery, which is unlikely.

The pick is lottery protected for the next 3 years, so they won't get the pick if we fail to make the playoffs next season.

I mean the Heat couldn't trade the 76ers pick for something else, unless it was another 1st, since they can't go 2 yrs without a 1st rd pick.

That's what I meant. Not that they have a choice as to when they get the pick.
