Yeah I can see Garcia and Phelps being the end of the rotation...4 and 5 says all you need to know about the B's...
Yup, Betances has been awful and Banuelous has been average in Triple A when he's pitched but right now he's hurt.
You won't be seeing Betances anytime soon in the Bronx, he got demoted to Double A this morning. Looking at his stats it's amazing how he's giving up a hit and a walk per inning.
Just saw the movie Ted and it was more realistic then I thought... There was a scene at Fenway and on the standings Yankees were in first and Boston was in third 1.5 games back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kuroda is saving the Yanks skin right now... Tough one against Moore tonight, kid has been on a tear lately...
God I hope NY doesnt give this guy 20M in free agency.......or even trade for him....it is the small secret ever that he is going to test free agency, Philly has no leverage...
would suspect any OF help hinges on Gardner's health. also in INTL news.... In news that just adds bullpen depth.... and in the totally meaningless news:
The New York Post reports Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain (elbow, ankle) is scheduled to throw in a simulated game Friday. He threw batting practice in Tampa Monday for the third time in his rehab. "Especially after today with the way I felt, the way my command was, I 100 percent believe I can get big league hitters out right now," Chamberlain said. and, big drum roll here.... The New York Post reports Yankees reliever Pedro Feliciano (shoulder) is scheduled to have a bullpen session Tuesday and could throw in batting practice next week.
Former Red Sox outfielder Darnell McDonald has changed sides in the sport's most publicized rivalry. He has been acquired off waivers by the New York Yankees. The team designated Chris Schwinden for assignment in a related move, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News tweets. ehhh, OF depth in a pinch.....
Crazy article on Kuroda.... http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/06/s...ded-by-pain.html?_r=3&pagewanted=1&ref=sports
Yankees manager Joe Girardi told Marc Carig of the Newark Star Ledger yesterday that Chamberlain could begin a minor league rehab assignment as soon as Tuesday. The 26-year-old right-hander threw a simulated game yesterday and should be cleared for a rehab stint if he makes it through a bullpen session tomorrow with no issues. Chamberlain would likely need most of his 30-day rehab window to get tuned up for a return to the majors, but Girardi hasn’t dismissed the possibility that he could be activated sooner.
Don't rush him back just yet. Let him take his time and make sure he's ready to be effective - has his stamina back. Otherwise we're asking for trouble.
He will be most likely he wont have to build his arm up that much..... I read somewhere that Ardsama had a set back....
Would love to see NY get in on this......they have squat on the farm as far as outfield prosects go....So if you are asking if I would trade ANY of the current crop of outfielders on the team now and prospects I am saying yes...
The 2nd half is time for CC to grab the ball and do something with it....the team has carried him through the 1st half.....time to be an ace now CC..... hopefully he signs ^^
I seriously don't get the CC hate. The guy has been a very good Yankee. But hey if you don't want him I'd be happy if my team took him off your hands.
I don't hate him, great guy personality wise, good clubhouse guy from all accounts......I want him to be better for that price tag...samething with Tex, samething with A-Rod....I am sorry when u take the contract and the money that goes with it, there is going to be pressure... I would let you have him for Lester sure...
Damn, you continue to solidify yourself as just a brutal FO man. Just brutal.....I will give you this....your posts of decision making and personnel moves are like the COMICs! make me chuckle!
I would seriously consider that (obviously money issues aside). Lester hasn't be an ace in over a season and a half now. I fear his best days could be behind him.
I know it would take more...but I wonder how?? Francona was saying that he isnt getting his cutter over enough, and his strikeouts are down..... Listen I like CC, I do, I just want more from him, and he will say the samething...
Lester's off speed pitches just haven't been there for him this year. He's been having trouble getting his curveball, cutter and change up over for strikes so teams are just sitting on them and looking fastball. His K's are down and walks are up. He just hasn't been the same guy he was in previous seasons.
winning and losing is contagious, but it just seems like even Beckett doesn't care...I wonder what it is REALLY like in that clubhouse right now... those 2 guys are better pitchers than that...you think it has alot of do with Valentine....? I guess we what and see until all the injuried players come back, however I dont think Crawford is coming back IMO, and if he does he isnt going to be affective....again just my IMO...
I'd be extremely surprised if Lester, Beckett and Buchholz (I'll include him too) had poor 1st halfs because of the manager. It's not like Valentine is throwing the baseball for them. I think with Beckett, we're seeing an older pitcher trying to learn how to pitch with reduced stuff. With Buchholz I just don't think he had a feel for his breaking pitches at the start of the year and I think he was babying himself a bit due to his back injury last year. Before he had his medical condition he was throwing the ball a lot better so there's hope he can turn his season around. As for Lester, as I noted above he just doesn't have his offspeed stuff working at all this year. He's a huge mystery. Now if you want to see Saltalamacchia and Shoppach's game calling have something to do with it or IF Valentine and the pitching coach are calling pitches for the pitchers then maybe you can place some blame on others but ultimately the pitchers are to blame. I mean as much as I dislike Valentine (there's a lot to dislike about him managing wise) can you really blame him for the god awful starting pitcher performances the Sox turned in this weekend? Plus if you want to blame Valentine/Pitching Coach for the failures of Lester/Beckett/Buchholz/Bard do we give him credit for Felix Doubront, Andrew Miller, Scott Atichson and Vincente Padilla? It's hard as outsides to truly judge just how much impact the manager/coaches have on players without seeing the behind the scenes stuff we're not able to see. I do think there's a major problem with the Red Sox, both on and off the field. I can't say what, because I truly don't know but there needs to be more changes made. The team just doesn't seem to mesh well and there are rumblings that the clubhouse is still divided. I mean as bad as this team has played at times this year they're still only what 3 games out of a playoff spot. But I'm just have zero confidence in them. They're truly just a weird, weird team to follow and have been since August 31st of last year. I'm starting to think that that Theo's last three big moves (Lackey, Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez trade) might have been the worst thing for this franchise.
