He doesn't need the money. His net worth is $15 million. He wants to show the world who Ochocinco is. The two million is gravy.

Well, he is, but he is currently in a legal battle about 20 miles south of me. The Arena league team he was playing for (And part owner) kicked his sorry @$$ to the curb. He refused to play any away games...then started to refuse to play home games too....he is now suing them for Defamation of Character......like he ever had any in the first place.

    How perfect would THAT be.

Ouch-Stinko and Turdel as our new Wideouts just in time for the Hard Knocks Soap opera.....

Sweet ! Sounds good, seems like we can't lose. Another under-rated pickup by Jeff Ireland. Just less than what Braylon got last year, 1/3 of what Plax got (and would expect this year). Less than Moss got this year. I was very skeptical, but hopefully we can stash a few of our young prospects on the PS. He was a good soldier in Boston, hopefully with a full camp this year he can get up to speed. I think the staff has realized that Tannehill could be ready sooner than later and they need to get him another weapon. My thinking is they would have been more content had it been Moore or Garrard playing most of the season.

    Hartline
    Ocho
    Bess
    Nanee

with Gates/Wallace/Moore/Pruitt/Cunningham/Matthews/Fuller/Hogan all battling for most likely one, maybe two spots.

Call me crazy but I've been holding out hope that the Skins drop Santana Moss for a while now. Replace Nanee !

What is your opinion on the 49ers, who signed Randy Moss ? Or the patriots, who signed Ocho last year ?
Is he not an improvement from Derek Moye ? Did he embarrass the patriots last year ? I don't get it.

I'm hoping the Ocho signing is just for giving our younger players a cheap Veteran WR presence in the locker room. Can't say I'm thrilled with the signing...

Okay, I'm missing something. What did Chad Ochocinco do to be lumped in with T.O. again?

My impression is that the behavior of some Diva recievers, can often be related to the way a team is managed, and the latitude the players in general are granted to conduct themselves (Not to ever excuse the self-glorifying acts). This isn't to suggest all such outspoken diva's can be affected by it, such as T.O. but to some extent Ocho may be one of those capable of maintaining a professional composure, if the proper safeguards are in place, as Belichick may likely have imposed during his time with NE. I would suspect a Philbin/Ireland signing, in keeping with our relatively conservative history of team conduct, would also be proactive to impose such standards, just as they possibly enforced with BM, as his conduct began to disintegrate.

It's all about the tone your leaders set, in any environment. OCho was well behaved last year on the Patriots. who on our team is going to be the leader?

I can't understand some of the comments here. People are acting like he's somewhere between Terrell Owens and Brandon Marshall, and it's a bit silly.

Ochocinco is eccentric and a showboat. Virtually everything he's done is victim-less and good-natured. He's not a cancer, coach-killer, malcontent, or an off-the-field issue. The worst thing he's likely done is demand a trade from the Bengals, which is hardly all that terrible in retrospect given Carson Palmer was willing to retire to get out of playing for them while Ochocinco played through it.

There are legitimate concerns over him being able to contribute after the Patriots basically shelved him, but seriously stop acting like a bunch of ****ing college Republicans.

    Duly noted.
Chad has indeed been the exception to the rule in his humorously candid conversations with the media, and why I ultimately believe his addition can be beneficial for both the team, and the producers of Hard Knocks.

Never think an athlete doesn't need the money. They can blow through $15 million like most of us could $500 or $1000. If I had a buck for every athlete millionaire that blew it (including many who had greater net worth than Ocho), I'd be sitting pretty.

Even Roger Clemens played extra years because he needed money (and he made ton more than Ocho in his career). They get into a lifestyle and can't change.

As to Ocho's contract - I like incentives but his base is way more than he deserves. Of course, I'd be surprised if he made the team if he plays like he did last year.

The 49ers have Harbaugh who is totally in charge of that team and Moss will have complete respect for him. Same with Belichick; and there was also Brady and a few others so that Ocho could not act up without getting put in his place immediately by a stronger personality who also is in charge.

Teams with dominant personality types leading them and that are successful - like the 9ers and Pats - can handle people like Moss or Ocho. But, a team like Miami? Not a good fit, imo. Aside from the fact that Ocho is also simply not a very good WR anymore and has been mediocre at set the last 3-4 years.

And how do you know Philibin isn't one of those dominant types that can keep Ocho or Moss under control?

I think this is a good test to see what kind of coach we really have.

Not every athlete is an idiot. Did you know Ocho gives away $1,000 a week to a random follower on Twitter? I hope he never changes that lifestyle.

He drives a smart car (used to be a prius) and wears fake diamonds. Anyone can blow through money, but that doesn't mean that everyone will.

Ochocinco at the worst is an attention whore. TO is an *******, and bmarsh is ****ing crazy. I don't even see how you can put ochocinco even close to those personalities. He's one of the few guys IMO that deserves the attention just because of the charity work he does.

15 million net worth isn't all that much for a high profile athlete that's accustomed to high living. Believe me, he needs and wants an extra $2,000,000. I hope he still has the talent to earn it.

Not thrilled with this signing, I don't think OC has much left in the tank, and his personality does not indicate to me that he will be any kind of a leader in the dressing room or on the field. At least we didn't have to give up any picks, thank God.

I can accept that he wants it, but why should I believe you that he needs it? What about his life style says he needs anything but attention?

Well, when I say needs, I'm not saying he'll starve without it. In fact, he'll probably be just fine without it, so let me backpeddle a bit. BUT athletes live a completely different lifestyle than most of us on this board. So for someone to say, "He's worth 15M, he doesn't need $2M..." just because most of us could live comfortably for the rest of our lives on that kind of money is a little off base. So while he doesn't NEED it, you can bet your *** that kind of money is important to him and he will try to earn it. Whether or not he still has the ability is another thing entirely.

I should have worded it better. My point is, those teams already have a built in leadership that commands respect before a player steps on the field. So it's easier for a team to assimilate a player who has some diva tendencies. I don't think Ocho's a trouble maker, but he still has some Diva in him. He thinks he's better than he is.

I don't care if he is worth $15M or $30M, Ocho doesn't train his arse off every off season for money, he does it because ultimately he loves the game, has fun playing the game, and really thinks the money is secondary. People misunderstand him and think that just because he is always in the public eye he is a disturbance.

I can guarantee that if anything, he will show these young WRs what true work ethic is. Ask anyone in NE who stood late after every practice. That doesn't by any means point to someone playing for cash IMO.
