Reggie Bush + Daniel Thomas DeMarco Murray + Felix Jones Peyton Hillis + Jamaal Charles DeAngelo Williams + Jonathan Stewart Matt Forte + Michael Bush Arian Foster + Ben Tate
Saw that, was a tad suprised they gave D.Thomas the credit. Not so sure these guys can fend off Miller though. Also a healthy Charles with Hillis gets my #1 vote.
Sorry, but the Bush-Thomas tandem is in the bottom third of the NFL. And that's being generous. Daniel Thomas was terrible last year. He may have been injured, and he may have potential, but his production was terrible.
While I would love it to end up being Bush and Thomas and the new zone schemes should help Thomas, I think, at this point, Arian Foster + Ben Tate are probably the best.
For Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas to even be named amongst those other tandems is a joke...right now. I'm sorry, but it is. Let Daniel Thomas prove SOMETHING, ANYTHING before you start putting him up there like that. I mean first off putting Reggie Bush in the same crowd as DeMarco Murray, Arian Foster, Matt Forte, DeAngelo Williams and Jamaal Charles is questionable. But then to put Daniel Thomas in league with Peyton Hillis, Felix Jones, Jonathan Stewart, Michael Bush and Ben Tate? Come on. I'm not saying it won't happen, you never really know the future, but there's no reason to do that right now, IMO. Heck right now I think the future of the Dolphins backfield is Lamar Miller and Jonas Gray.
Yeah, last season was the first 1000+ yard season for Reggie and Thomas didn't even make it through the whole season because he has the hamstring of 90 year old lady.
Fred Jackson + CJ Spiller Frank Gore + Kendall Hunter Michael Turner + Jason Snelling Willis Mcgahee + Knowshon Moreno Darren McFadden + Taiwan Jones Beanie Wells + Ryan Williams
It's interesting to me that Daniel Thomas is the 2nd guy in the equation to begin with. Even the Dolphins' front office might disagree with that. After all, they gave Lamar Miller a higher grade than they gave Daniel Thomas.
Ben Tate + Arian Foster isn't even fair. I'm glad we got some praise. It makes me feel good. I think DT is meh but there's something there if he can stay healthy.
I like DT better than most, but that's mostly on potential in the flashes I've seen. I think that many here are down on him due to an over-emphasis on his failures in short yardage while battling a hamstring injury. Now I felt that in college he had a tendency to run too upright so maybe it wasn't the hammy, but I'm willing to give him a little benefit of the doubt. That being said, I would have Foster and Tate at the top and I don't think Bush and DT are close to that level.
This thread is a little too negative IMO. Reggie and Thomas are solid with potential to be more. I'm happy to see some praise thrown there way.
When you have excellent feet at that size, there's a good chance that his flashes were the real thing.
I agree that he was piss poor most of the season, almost like it was seeing a different player our there compared to the early flashes I saw, I'm hoping that the injury hampered him,not his confidence.
I wonder what excuses we will be speaking when talking about DT next season Will it be the same hamstring problem he's had since his senior bowl?
I think it was the speed of the game that hampered him. He was pulling the old J.J. Johnson trick running straight into the backs of his own blockers.
Exactly! How was his hammy in week 17? You know, when he ran the ball 12 times for 28 yards!?!?!? On the same day that Steve Slaton ran the ball 11 times for 55 yards???
Slaton has performed when given a chance. His problem is more along the lines of Miller and Bush do the same things.
It is quite funny, the one thing is as a pro, you still have to perform even when dinged, he pretty much did not. The guy he was compared to coming to Miami, Larry Johnson, had the same issues when he first started, but ironed them out but it took him 2 yrs.
I'm willing to give DT the benefit of the doubt due to the hamstring injury, but if it continues then that becomes a durability question or if it's fine and he still doesn't produce then either way I would look to replace him in the next draft. I tend to like that 2nd - 3rd round area for backs. I don't mean specifically for this draft but in general. I see that as a good area to find players with enough talent to potentially produce and it's cheap enough that if they don't it doesn't kill you.
Anybody who has been around the game knows that hamstring injuries often linger all season due to the lack of recovery time. So I don't specifically know how his hammy was on week 17, but it is certainly reasonable to believe that it was not healthy.
One thing to remember he was a rookie who didn't have an offseason. It isn't rare for rookies to hit a rookie wall.
Obviously because Peterson was/is injured.... they're worried about their running back situation. They're working hard to get Gerhart's weight down in hopes he can do more than 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Many would prefer Richardson and Hardesty to that so called tandem at this point !
