A lot of credit to Boston here. As good as Rondo has been, Garnett has played as well as anyone could imagine. His defensive impact has been unreal, but that shouldn't be a surprise.

That is the argument. Good one.

    BUT.

    Here is the reality.

Dwyane Wade is this team's leader. When your leader is sabotaging your team, you have no chance. The disposition sags, doubt in the system creeps in, and you get a talented bu disjointed team playing against a team that is together and buys in.

That and if the Heat are not getting the benefit of the doubt on calls at home, they are gonna get screwed in Boston. Too much to ask.

I would be surprised if they won game 6, and floored if they won the series.

IF THEY DO..it is the final NAIL in the coffin for the "coaching matters" crowd.

Where was THE WARDEN? you mean the guy that KG is shooting under 40% against in this series? The guy that KG is shooting the worst percentage in a playoff from midrange for his career against?

    That guy?

Well, he played the same amount of minutes that I did last night.

Oh great, now I have to pick between cheering for the Heat to lose because I hate them...

Or cheering for them to win just so I can be right and say I told you so.

    Thanks a lot, dude.

Joel's ZERO minutes was the most mystifying thing I witnessed last night. How does a guy go from a starter logging 30 minutes plus 48 hours ago to a DNP-CD last night? What kind of coaching is this? Who handles a rotation this way?

Made no sense. Why we didn't at least try to play Joel and Bosh together was simply beyond me. That's a lineup that got plenty of use during the season and was effective.

And that's on Spo. They guy is a good coach but I think the challenges of coaching this particular team are beyond his abilities and personality. I'm not suggesting that coaching makes a huge difference, but guys have to buy into the plan at the evry elast. I'm not even sure what the plan to buy into here is, other than play defense, which they typically do

SEc hit the nail on the head.
The sad thing is that people will find away to pin the blame on LBJ even though the immaculate Wade gets not blame.

If Lebron had balls he'd smack Wade across the face and tell him to get his **** in gear, to stop coasting for halves at a time.

since Spoelstra getting canned is a foregone conclusion, one name you can expect to get alot of play and what woudl be a full court press to land him:

    Mike Krzyzewski

Arison is friends with him, and the organization is loaded with Duke people, including Nick Arison who is the #2 under Micky. They adore that guy and would surely go after him hard.

I've thought about him as well. He already has the admiration of the Big 3 and he is about to spend another entire summer with them. This is the key thing. He may be a college coach but that Olympics experience, in which he not only did a great job but also gained the trust of NBA superstars is the key for his success if he tries it.

If he's ever going to give the NBA a shot, this is it. The best opportunity.

Speaking of Coach K, didn't Schaeffel and Billy Cunningham actually try and hire him once before Micky threw them both out of the organization and hired Riley?. I seem to remember that was a big story for a few days in the early 90's.

I'd love to see Coach K leave Duke but I would be shocked if it happened (outside of retirement).

Im not usually one for finger pointing, but in the closed locker room with no reporters, I hope Lebron points the finger at Wade and says "YOU are the reason we are losing. Your crappy defensive effort, your jogging down the floor after a miss, only playing second halfs. YOU are the reason we are down 3-2"

Enough with this basketball best friends ****. Im sorry but if Wade can't bring his A game in the playoffs then he isn't the player we all believe he is.

To be fair Wade isn't the only reason we are losing, but when you have Lebron + Wade that should be enough to mask at least offensive deficiencies for stretches of time. No reason we shouldnt be able to score for five minutes of a period.

I am not off any bandwagon, was never on a bandwagon, i am a fan of the heat, have been since zo and hardaway. However, I can call a spade a spade. This team plays with little heart at times, and most of the derives (like stated above) from their leader Dwyane Wade.

I am not confident in a win tomorrow. However, if we do win, we win the series. Yes, there is that big of a swing.

This sounds weird, but I think Wade is stuck in that state where he believes he is giving 100% but when he looks back on it later he will realize and most likely regret the way he is playing. Because with this team he has the chance to go down in basketball history and one of the greatest, but he is pissing it away with sub par efforts for entire quarters at a time.

Right okay, maybe against him but then who is KG doing well against? UD? because it is safe to say KG hasnt been stopped much this series, AND here is the kicker......the guy is soft....

so what gives, if not Anthony then who is responsible for the void against him?.....and honestly I get the stats and all, but look at the impact visually.....KG's impact in this series and for Boston has been hard to overlook clearly...

It is the same as the people saying LBJ isnt playing well because he doesnt play hero ball....

Wade would have to have another monster game for us to win. And I dont see that happening, he is playing like he doesnt care.

Do you remember Dwyane Wade coming back from injury in 08'?

The dedication? His work with Tim Grover? The shape he came in that season? Then the subsequent MVP season he had? Since then, he comes in out of shape and is always hurt to start seasons because of it.

I hope not, for the Heat's sake. He just seems like the ultimate candidate to be the next great college coach, bad NBA/NFL coach. Hell he's already failed once with the Nets. He's a very good coach, but being the best cheater/recruiter in basketball doesn't do him any good in the NBA level. Way too much of an ego as well. And generally just a scumbag.

BTW, for you Doc Rivers' dick riders....

He used all of those exotic defenses in the 4th quarter. Used 4 different coverages, and used a zone.

Heat shot over 50% vs. the Zone and scored 30 points in the quarter.

problem is that I didn't start watching basketball yesterday. I remember when Doc Rivers was considered a terrible coach in Orlando.

Doc was a clown in Orlando but has certainly improved and is a very good coach. He is far from the master he is made out to be, but he does have a handle on his team and how to use what they hve left in the best possible manner.

Did he? I don't think so. He just has a great set of players on his team with 3 first ballot hall of famers and one of the best PG's in the game. He was still a terrible coach in Boston before he magically became a "great" coach when the Big 3 got there.

No coach is going to look good without some good players. What doc does extremely well are two things; he understands his team and their strengths and weaknesses and puts them into a position to succeed, which is really all you can ask of a good coach; and he is very skilled at creating plays out of timeouts and other stoppages.

Spo isn't great at either of these things and it shows. Spo is a good coach who got farther than his own merits would suggest because of the talent level of the team. But he clearly doesn't always put the guys into the ebst position to succeed. For example, there are plenty of plays where LBJ simply stands in the corner as a decoy. Some of that is on him, but Spo needs to design plays that keep him moving. when they did that last night, it almost always worked.
