Lived in Burrillville till 10, the CT, then GA at 17 when my dad transferred jobs. I love visiting RI, but I love living in Atlanta, minus the heat. My brother and I were just talking about Del's Lemonade, are those still around?
It's not even close, I live in Buckhead where the money is (I have none), but there are more hot girls at the grocery store than you could see in RI in a week. The gyms are insane. Best part about living in Atlanta no doubt.
Yeahhhhhh Buddy the only good thing about RI (well that and Weiners) still lives....dominates actually, there pretty much is no lemonade like Del's......hey if you ever get back this way, give me a shout we will grab a brew.....
I will say things are gonna turn for the Sox, you'll see... Their offense is fine, they will hit, if anything some are underachieving.....that line-up when right is the toughest in the league to face besides Texas... Their starting pitching will come around by August comes.....their main problem is their BP, but if Bailey can lock it down when he comes back, slip Alfredo back to the "everything role"...they are going to be right there in the end, and I wont be shocked if they win it... Then add in all the injuries that are coming back over the course of the year..... MLB is a tricky animal this year....not one dominate team.... I really think for them it is going to come down to if V makes dumb decisions with the game on the line late in the year......
Things have actually started to turn around already, although not sure if it was because they played the Indians and Mariners, but the pitching, especially the bullpen has been pretty solid. As for Oswalt, not sure how much he can realistically give a team, nor can he really be counted on to stay healthy. Last word on him was his back was and still is a mess (hence why he didn't sign with a team in the offseason).
FinYank, destroying the integrity and flow of threads since...well since, he first started really..... P.S. do you not understand the simpe EDIT feature...you can open the first post that no one pays attention to, and keep editing it to post other insignificant rants..... too funny....
Cody Ross, who’s been playing every day in the Red Sox’s outfield because of injuries to Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury, is now joining them on the disabled list with a fractured bone in his left foot. There’s no timetable yet for his return, but manager Bobby Valentine indicated to reporters that the Red Sox definitely expect him to play again this season.
The Ross injury is going to hurt, the guy was killing LHPing, now the Sox have to count on Daniel Nava and/or Marlon Byrd in those spots (and Darnell McDonald when he comes off the DL).
and now..... Red Sox outfielder Ryan Sweeney may need a stint on the seven-day DL because of post-concussion symptoms, tweets Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. Sweeney's uncertain status comes just after Cody Ross was disabled with a broken foot. If Sweeney does require a roster move, then he'll become the seventh Red Sox outfielder on the DL. In addition to Ross, fellow outfielders -- deep breath -- Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury, Darnell McDonald, Jason Repko, and Ryan Kalish are all presently on the disabled list for Boston. That, in turn, would likely force Che-Hsuan Lin into regular outfield duty alongside Marlon Byrd and Daniel Nava. someone has to I guess (at least its in the Beantown thread)..hahaha
You might see it every once and awhile (maybe once time a week if that) but I don't think you'll see no matter how bad the injuries get with the OF. It's just not smart putting Gonzalez out there, especially in RF at Fenway each day. Not only do you take his excellent defense at 1st base away but risk him getting hurt in the OF (and also weakening the OF defense). Most likely you'll see the Sox call up a minor leaguer perhaps Alex Hassan or Carlos Juan Lindares to fill in for a few days/weeks until Sweeney comes back. Of course the Sox can always try to make a trade for a RHH OF too. Not sure who's available at this moment though. And I think it would be equally as dumb to put Middlebrooks or Youkilis in the OF too. They just have to weather the injury bug storm for now. Lin, by the way, is an excellent defensive OFer and can get on base but has zero pop in his bat. One idea could be to put Aviles in the OF (he had been playing there in winter ball when the Sox still had Lowrie and Scutaro) and call up Iglesias to play SS. But Aviles has been playing pretty good defense at SS himself lately. I don't know, should be interesting to see what they do.
Red Sox are calling up Scott Podsednik now that Sweeney is on the DL. I totally forgot about him even though he was traded for about a week or so ago. Don't expect much out of him, as he's most likely only up until Sweeney goes back.
...even a homer... btw Pawtucket is a great place to catch a game...11 dollar field box seats...I gotta go this summer....maybe Scranton comes soon... Must.Go.Check......
u cant beat the value.....every seat is a good seat..... the food isnt outrageous either...2.50 for a dog...
Gonzalez is starting in RF tonight, Middlebrooks at 3rd and Youk at 1st. Again I'd be pretty surprised if Gonzalez played RF at all in Fenway (perhaps Youkilis would play LF there?) but in Baltimore why not I guess.
The Sox lineup the other night had the 3 OF's batting 7,8,9. I am not sure that has every happened in Sox history. Isn't Kalish about to start playing soon?
Bobby V. is playing a very dangerous game with his defensive decisions......a ticking timebomb perhaps.
Oh absolutely. They were lucky nothing was hit at Gonzalez that cost them a game. I think if they have Gonzalez play RF at Fenway they're really asking for trouble. I wonder what the line up will be on Friday when they're home. Do you put Gonzalez in LF? Youkilis or Middlebrooks in LF? I'm guessing once Sweeney and/or McDonald comes off the DL, Middlebrooks will be in the minors.
If one of the best defensive 1B in all of baseball gets injured in OF, pitch forks and torches should be all the rage in Beantown. Youk, 5 years ago in OF, fine...now...nope. You do the common sense thing....you take a young legged (hip) Middlebrooks - who benefits the bottom of the order too - and play him in LF for as long as he is up with the big club. If he keeps hitting, and doesnt injure himself crashing into the left field foul-line wall you may let him stay up....but he is the only body worth risking in OF during this DL-MASH unit situation. Teach him the basics about the green monster and angles, and tell him anything toward the foul wall with zero room, to play as a ground rule double and off the hop, so to speak.....but we both know Bobby V. wont do that.
You'd like to think it is that easy, and I agree with this, but players are competitors too, I am sure this would go in one ear and out the other...
Then again, this is Youk's last year....so sticking him in OF and with a "who cares" attitude and leaving longterm Middlebrooks at 3B could also work (especially if you dont care if Youk returns to DL).
That would be the smarter thing to do because Middlebrooks is better defensively at 3rd than Youkilis is. So you'd only be weakening 1 position (LF) with Youkilis there instead of two if Middlebrooks is in LF. I'd actually feel better with Youkilis in LF staying healthy than Youkilis at 3rd diving around for ground balls etc.
