I am very suprised with both guys . . . more so with Booker tho. I knew Paul was a project . . . . he has first round talent, but 7th round motivation and commitment . . . . so the 4th round he was placed. I think he will get it, but I knw it may take some time . . . . I think he will be ready for next season when he is projected to be the starter. Booker is an enigma . . . why he isn't playing is beyond me . . . he didn't play until the 2nd to last preseason game . . . I mean what is going on here . . . really. If Cam didn't think he was capable, why on earth did he draft him . . . this is starting to look like a wasted pick . . . we could have went defense with that pick . . . I guess picking up Quentin Moses helps make up for it . . . but with this RB crisis, we need to see Booker on the field Sunday.
I think that you are right on Booker, I can't see how he could be this bad not to see the field. Unless his prep is terrible. Maybe his blocking sub-par. I like the upside of Moses and Rod Wright. Randy picks the players and he put a premium on team speed on offense. That is prolly what got Booker drafted. Booker could be John Avery II.
John Avery eh... gave me shivers... I don't think so. I don't recall any of the defensive guys ever talking up Avery. Lots of hype, but no linebacker love. I was surprised at the comments made by guys, and like most of y'all, I was excited and could hardly wait. Cam is an enigma sometimes.. his treatment of Ronnie Brown was inexplicable.. what was he thinking? And now.. why the hell did he pick LoBook if he didn't have a place for him.. I thought at first that he intended to use him on returns, and work him in like Ginn, but he was not very good. The word dangerous came to mind.. to us, he was really no less reliable than many rookies but there was something there that made me cringe.. still does. There is something we aren't being told. He didn't go from being given unsolicited props from some respected team leaders to the "you ain't playin'" catagory for no reason... I wish someone would dig deep enough to suss it out... I wanna know.. The only thing that we ever heard about LoBook was his Father passed away, and he was home with his family. I cannot think of anything that could happen during a time like that that wouldn't be immediately forgiven. I believe that Cam is a good hearted man and cannot see him holding a grudge even if LoBook defied his orders during this time.. Cam is a family first man so it can't IMO, be this.. but it did happen and I though I'd throw it out there. I wonder too.... thanks for the link Jag.
Only thing I can think of Marty is that this is mentally a demanding offense with a lot of reads of seams required. Its possible that while he is a good receiver he is just struggling mentally with the offense. I don't know, I find it odd too.
I think Darlington wrote something about him being a huge liablity in pass protection and they didn't want him keeping a QB from being "scrambled eggs". But I could be wrong about that.
I agree that there is something we are not being told about LoBook... it just doesn't make any sense. You would think Cam or someone would comment about it, but the player interviews seem to say that the players are just as confused as we are about his lack of involvement.
