A new phins fan here. We will miss Ryan Tannehill in Aggieland. I wanted to come here and tell you not to worry. Ive seen Ryan play live in just about every home game and many roads games. Ill sum it up this way. The QB that went ahead of him(RG3) has lost to Ryan in back to back games. Badly. Hes not going to get the respect he should due to the media all over him about the amount of starts hes had at QB. But you have to think about how in the world does a football player that breaks school records in both WR and QB go in the 1st round? Add the fact that most teams were pushing each other around to get him. Had Ryan come from Ohio state or USC this would of been a non issue. As for the drops from his WR's? Most were lazy. Including Fuller who is also on your roster. He had a bad attitude and didnt like being out of the spotlight all year....see Ryan swope.... Finally I want to say relax and set back and enjoy your new ride. Its gonna be a nice one. As a cowboys fan I wish him and the Phins the best of luck.

Thanks for coming here and sharing your opinion on our new Qb..This is what's driving me crazy, and what I'm trying to wrap my head around, How in the world, does a kid play receiver for two years at a hi level in a major conference, then bust on to the scene as a Qb, and play that position at THAT level, against quality competition, I mean I see weaknesses in his game, but I can't put those things into any type of relative perspective, because of the most unusual transition I think I've ever seen..Part of me thinks that I'm judging him based on what I see as a Qb prospect, and the other part feels guilty about judging him on those things, considering the circumstances and what he actually did..I don't know if he's the most gifted athlete we have seen in a very long time, or his weaknesses are just a result of lack of experience..

Thanks, man. We are all very excited about Tannehill. First QB drafted in 1st round since Marino and we all believe he can save our franchise and lead us back to the top.

Thanks for the heads up. Tannehill should get another chance to beat RG3 being here and I hope he does a nice job at it. I'm sure all Cowboy fans would enjoy that to.

Does anyone know where that pic of Tannehill in practice the other day is where he's rolling left? I've seen it several times and can't see to find it??.

    Thanks rock..

Can we really look at that picture for more than just a passing glance, I've been staring at it for a while breaking it down, the full body dexterity shown, the flexibility displayed, the head twisted around, with the upper body completely going against the lower body,in perfect position to throw, is beautiful... no,its a freakin weapon is what it is.if you just look at that one highlight reel that our new member posted above, you will see him running to his left as much as his right, and you will also see that he's just as friggin dangerous going left, and that is rare in this league, and for him to be able to make himself square, the shoulders, head, elbows, ball position, and release from that position, and he's absolutely getting velocity on the ball, and accuracy, damn man.You wanna talk about the definition of a moving pocket and completely wearing the *** out of pass rushers, this will be a weapon for Sherman, and from the looks of it, he understands this unique ability and will exploit the defense because of it..

This is where the unique skillset of this particular player gives me hope, just imagine, Tannehill rolls right on first down, Tannehill rolls left on 2 nd down, Tannehill drops, sells the play action, whips his head around like he does so well, and fires the strike down the seam to Egnew..The defense will never know where's he's gonna be, that hesitation is huge, as long as Sherman uses this kids unique talents on every series the pass rushers will not know where he's gonna be.

Not meaning to get off topic, but has anyone else noticed too...practices have all been outside...in the sweltering heat and humidity of Miami and not in the practice bubble?

Or have the Dolphins camps always been outside and my old dumb *** is just noticing this? :tongue2:

I think it has it's place, the bubble, but if your gonna go up tempo, and there is a conscious effort to take advantage of the heat here, then they better get used to it.

Another Ag here and just stumbled on this thread. I wouldn't say that Fuller necessarily had a bad attitude, as surely he knew Swope was going to get a lot more touches during Fuller's SR year. I know he had nagging injuries all season, so it may not have been all or mostly attitude. Regardless, if JR Jeff shows up to camp, he was a steal as an UFA. He looked like a 2nd or 3rd rounder at least had he come out as a JR.

The amazing thing to me about Tannehill was that he was SO good at both positions. He ran great routes and had great hands as a receiver (often our go to guy in his FR and Soph seasons). Also, considering he was the backup QB the whole time he was playing receiver, he had to be played with caution, often not being on the field for all of 1st and 2nd downs when he would have otherwise been out there. That is one reason his production at WR wasn't even better, especially after his FR year.

Anyway, just some input for this thread. I really laugh at all the "experts" that act like he was just solely playing WR and practicing there for 3 seasons when he in fact was always taking reps at QB and going to all meetings while mostly getting on the field at WR.

Make it or not in the NFL, he is a great Aggie.

Did you see how many 4 yard outs, 10 yard outs and 20 yard outs Tanny threw in that video?

Every one of those was an NFL throw! Like Gruden said in his QB camp video - "You threw a lot of outs didn't you Ryan" "You threw more outs than any other NCAA team x 17 didn't you" Tanny - "Yes sir"

Now look at RG3's throws. 99% WR screens, bubble screens, shot slants and bombs. I can't recall many or any NFL throws he made - just pop gun stuff and the media ran with it.

Someone asked about Sherman. He's a good NFL OC. But for college as a HC he was overwhelmed. His head was stuck in his laminated play sheet and he could never make the correct offensive adjustments in the second half of games. When he gets ruffled, he calls passing plays. In college he played a little favoritism to the extent it cost us (A&M) games (5 in 2011 and 2 in 2010).

#25 Ryan Swope will get drafted and as you saw in the above video, no one in college catches him when he turns on the afterburners.

People forget that Tannehill played QB in HS. He is not a WR who converted to QB, he is a QB who played WR to help his team win in college before his HC realized out of necessity he needed Tannehill at QB

The question you should ask yourself is how in the world is a QB athletic enough to play WR. He was ALWAYS going to be a quarterback for the program. He just happened to be able to play WR when they had a desperate need and a junior/senior QB on the roster already.

Yeah I know Matt, but to make this transition in college after two years at receiver, and then that immediate hi level of play, I mean who does that, and what the fu$) does it mean...? Are we seing someone who has just scratched the surface, or are we seeing someone who can play pretty good at multiple positions but not great at one?

I really can't think of another player doing something like this before, not at this level?.. I mean you know I wanted Weeden, and that's who I had him going up against in the draft and how I matched up Tannehill skillset, and after studying both, I went with Weeden, but I'm hopin that this kid just has to get more experience to overcome some of the things that made me want Weeden over him.. I mean the kid may of went in Qb meetings, but was he getting real reps?, and he only played what 18 games in college?.

I knew you would say that Fin..lol..like I said, for me it wasn't that I didn't like Tannehill, is was always about who I thought would be better, and this year we did have that choice, and mine was Weeden, however, I hope all our boy needs is some exp, cause like I mentioned in that earlier post, his skillset can be a weapon if used correctly, the dude is an ambiturner..lol

Pretty unprecedented I believe...I would say to play at the level he did at both positions, two positions that are completely different! with Qb in the equation, I guess you have to quantify that as ridiculously talented.

Definitely very talented. I love his ability to run the bootleg. Think of this: Most bootleg QB's are athletic enough to get outside the pocket and let a play develop. How many are athletic enough to make the defense respect their ability to run the ball?

Now I'm not saying he is Cam Newton or Michael Vick. What I am saying is that I believe he is going to be more of a running threat than most people imagine in this offense. I believe the defense is going to have to shadow him on bootlegs which basically takes a defender out of the play.

what's exciting to me is what I posted earlier in this thread..The ability this man has going to his left and keep his mechanics and eyes downfield, is a weapon, the bootleg can now go both ways Alex.

Even though Weeden is probably a better pure passer (debatable though IMO) I don't think he would fit this offense nearly as well as Tannehill.

Just watched the video for the first time and it has me excited. Ryan Tannehill looks awesome. Incredibly athletic, dexterous, and very strong. You can't do the things that he does without having exceptional upper-body strength and that should also come in as a plus as he should be able to absorb frequent hits, break tackles, and shrug off opposing DLs.

The only chink in the armor I see is that he looks like underthrows the deep ball sometimes. It's especially evident at 4:38 in the video.

BTW, do people in Texas really say "howdy?"

The throw when he's running left and twists his body back to the right to complete the pass with a fair amount of speed and dead nutz on target is just amazing. We have a reason for high hopes here. Very impressive throws.

That's generally just a timing issue between the QB and the receivers that is easily corrected with enough reps.

Man Alex,if your talking about the waist down, I'll give you that, but you and I know that's a small part of the position, and Brandon Weeden has underrated athleticism..
