IF YOU excluded the 72 and 73 teams or players from that erra who would you put on your list of favorite offensive players. I know who will be #1 on most peoples lst but I will include him anywaays. here are my top 15 players . #1 Dan Marino #2 Keith Jackson #3 Richmond Webb #4 Irving Fryar #5 Bob Kuech #6 Keith Sims #7 Ricky Williams #8 Nat Moore #9 Keith Byars #10 Tony Nathan #11 Tony Paige #12 OJ McDuffie #13 Ronnie Brown #14 Brian Griese ( never got a good look but has been a good solid qb ) #15 Wes Welker
Here are my top 15 players: #1 Dan Marino #2 Larry Czonka #3 Bob Griese #4 Dwight Stevenson #5 Bob Kuech #6 Larry Little #7 Paul Warfield #8 Richmond Webb #9 Jim Langer #10 Jim Kiick #11 Eugene (Mercury) Morris #12 Nat Moore #13 Mark Duper & Mark Clayton #14 OJ McDuffie #15 Jim Mandich
You said exclude the players from the 72/73 team then you include Bob Kuechenberg. Already contradicting your own parameters. Breaking into the liquor cabinet kind of early on a Sunday ain't ya?
1. Ted Ginn 2. Cecil Collins 3. Daunte Culpepper 4. Yatil Green 5. David Boston 6. Ray Lucas 7. Marc Colombo 8. A.J. Feeley 9. Sammie Smith 10. John Avery 11. Randal Hill 12. Pat White 13. Wade Smith 14. J.J. Johnson 15. John Beck
Excluding early 70's - fav 15: 1. Marino 2. Clayton 3. Duper 4. Dwight Stephenson 5. Nat Moore 6. Tony Nathan 7. Jim Jensen 8. Richmond Webb 9. Ricky Williams 10. Ronnie Brown 11. Chad Pennington 12. Joe Rose 13. Bruce Hardy 14. Don Strock 15. Tony Paige
Man I love my team but I'am not sure I can list 15 players without adding some from the early years...Dan really did not have that much great talent to work with during his tenure IMO, and considering how below average we've been since his retirement, umm, I mean I guess I can list some players that I liked, but "favorite" is a pretty endearing term. Dan Dwight Jake Ricky Mark Clayton Mark Duper Crash Richmond Irving, and I don't mean spikes Fryar. Chad Pennington Mind going blank.
1. Dwight Stephenson 2. Mark Dennard 3. Jon Geisler 4. Roy Foster 5. Jeff Dellenbach 6. Harry Galbreath 7. Jeff Uhlenhake 8. Ron Heller 9. Mark Dixon 10. Kevin Donnalley 11. Kevin Gogan 12. Jamie Nails 13. Todd Perry 14. Jake Long 15. Ricky Williams
Warfield Zonk Morris Scott Mandich #85 Anderson Clayton Duper Madison Zach Marino Surtain McDuffie Morris 15 is too many for me so i mixed Offense and Defense
Anyone can like good offensive linemen after the fact, which is all I did here. I don't know how or who decided I was any sort of OL guru. Thanks though.
I dont think of anyone as a Guru. Just knowledgeable... Notice how many lineman? I think its pretty telling that you like the trench
The people who have excluded Dwight Stephenson should be embarrassed Arguably the best center to have ever played in the NFL
Born in 74, so never saw the Dynasty teams. Heres mine: Some obvious ones and several personal favorites 1. Dan Marino - #1 reason Im a Dolphin fan today 2. Mark Duper - #2 reason 3. Mark Clayton - Loads of great memories from my youth! 4. Dwight Stephenson - It was great knowing that your young QB had a rock to lead the OL 5. Zach Thomas - I remember when he came into the league, beat out Jack Del Rio and dove offside during the season finale to try and steal the ball from the opposing Center. 6. Jason Taylor - After years of no QB pressure, JT finally gave us an outside pass rush. 7. John Offerdahl - Couldnt stay healthy but what a player. Had he stayed healthy in the AFC Champ. game vs the Bills, we might've had a chance 8. Ricky Williams - What a ride! Always admired him despite his troubles and would love to meet him one day. And that one season when he ran for 1800+ yards was exhilarating. 9. Chris Chambers - Never had a QB to throw him the ball, but what an athlete! Always felt he couldve been a perennial pro bowler on a team with a functional passing game 10. Hugh Green - Oh what could have been with him leading our defense. So psyched we got him, saddened by his injuries. Another "what if" player. 11. Bobby Humphrey - Loved him in college, was stoked we acquired him, hated how it ended. We needed a running game desperately and I thought he was the answer. 12. Cameron Wake - Building his legacy as we speak - four more years! 13. Louis Oliver - Liked his attitude, enthralled by his physicality and intimidation tactics, wished he was better in coverage, but loved him all the same 14. Sammie Smith - After Marino, probably my favorite ever draft pick. I was so bummed he didnt pan out. Fumblitis + Idiocy = 15. Troy Vincent - Another draft pick I loved - we also got Marco Coleman in the first round that year - he was our first good DB in many years. Bummed that we let him walk in FA.
Yeah, I added Ricky for some diversity. Webb and Sims I like of course. They were marquee names though. I wanted to add in a few of the lunch pail blue collar class of OL. Other than Dwight and Jake, many of the others were guys who got little recognition.
I thought Bob Kuech was after the 70's erra ? Tony Paige wasnt until late 70's or 80's so who in praytel on my list is from 72 -73 eason ? no liquor cabnet opened but thanks for your input anyways . i may not have the exact dates but i was trying to put a list of players after the 72 - 73 season and if I'm not mistaken only Kuech played closed to that time frame but i could have made a mistake.
I found an interesting comment from Bob Lilly, a Dallas Cowboy member of the famed Doomsday Defense and a member of the Hall of Fame. I first played against Kuechenberg in Super Bowl VI, and I realized he was one of the best offensive linemen I had ever seen” "Bob Lilly"
