Do you think Miami reached or are you satisfied with the pick? If you are not, post why and who you would have picked given the players left on the board. *** I think this is a solid pick given the situation. Tannehill, I think luckily, fell into the Dolphins' laps. Good situation for Tannehill. He will know the system. Philbin is notorious for developing QBs. Miami NEEDED a QB. The fans needed a QB. I think this is a good marriage. ***
If they fix his motion, I am okay with the pick. I really hope they don't rush Tannehill into service, I am okay with him holding a clipboard for a year or two to get right.
Check back in three years, though we should have a good idea by the end of year two. I'm happy the Phins finally invested heavily into a QB, and we knew Ryan better than any other team, so that helps.
I just don't see how taking a chance on a questionable QB should make me happy? We could have done that with Weeden, Foles or Osweiler and picked Floyd, Coples, Perry in the 1st.....just my opinion
For the most part I am, I'm glad we didnt have to trade up for him too. Sent from the depths of hell using Tapatalk.
We're finally taking the most important position on the field seriously. For that alone, I'm happy. Let's hope he works out.
I expect him to have an immediate role in the red zone. He's already well versed in the zone read concepts.
Lets start him at receiver, that way we arent the only pick in the top 15~ that didnt draft an immediate starter / impact player / game changer.
Im happy with it I guess... but i'll really tell you in 3 years. I think we reached a bit. I think with all the talent still on the board, and nobody behind us really desperate for a QB part of me thinks we could have traded down, taken him a few spots later, still got our guy, and gotten another pick or so. Apparently Ireland, Philbin, and Sherman are convinced though. So I guess for the time being we should be. The kid looks like he can be the real deal, too bad we probably won't get immediate impact from it though. Sure hope we can get him a nice target at WR too.
We haven't spent a 1st round pick on a QB since Dan "The Legend" Marino...(1983) HELL YES, I'm happy with this pick!!!
Guys always throw in the "shoulda traded down" stuff, but you gotta have a partner for that and you have to want to trade down. With all the crap flying out of Davie the last few days, they wanted the kid all along. By our pick, the elite guys were alll gone. The names of the top 6 were the same, just the teams rotated around with all the trades... Of course all the guys that didn't want Tanny would have been the ones castrating Ireland if he'd passed on him and traded down...
"With the 8th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, The Miami Dolphins Select........ that guy over there" "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFKINSUPERBOWLWWOLWLSLOLZZZZZZZZZZ"
The kids' biggest fault is that he is under experienced...It's not his mechanics, intangibles, arm strength, footwork or any other physical or mental flaw... He's a gym rat, a coach's son, football smart and has a great character. This wasn't a bad move, based on what we know about the kid right now, even if he doesn't turn out to be Dan Marino, Part Deux....
Cautiously happy. Know the people who made the decision, know a heck of alot more then I do about him, and spent a heck of a lot more time looking into him, and know more about football then I do. Wasnt "my pick", but Im hoping for the best!
I like MMoore too, but he's reached his ceiling...It's a shame because he's not a bad guy, but he isn't likely to get any better than what we saw last season. That said, he's also likely to be our day one starter this season...
its good they got a qb but Tannehill and Sherman wont be helping us win ball games they both sux all miami did here was draft who the media *** clowns down in miami wanted. if TANNEHILL BECOMES A RESPECTABLE QB THEN I will give it up to him .
#8 overall is too high I think. I wish we could have traded down. I'm cautiously optimistic he will work out.
I don't need to wait 3 years to know I like the pick. I like the pick irregardless of how he pans out. You have to make QB a priority in this league. If Tannehill doesn't work out, try again.
I think this was a pressure pick because they feel like they have to produce this pick for the fanbase. Have you seen the boards this off season?
Agreed and if it doesn't work out, we'll be in the same position we've been in for the last 15 years anyway. If he does work out, we've got Aaron Rodgers with more athleticism.
Oh, so you think the Dolphins' front office is READING THESE BOARDS??? Dude, we have a coach who developes QBs, we have an offensive coordinator who was this kid's head coach. If anyone knew him, it was Philbin and Sherman. And we picked him. To me, that says they knew what they were getting and they were comfortable with it.
I was using the boards as an example of how the fanbase has been. We have also hired planes that say fire ireland and protested outside of the facility.
Who's "we?" Anyway, given his inability to sign free agents, Ireland SHOULD be fired. If Ross overruled Ireland for this pick...good!
And picking a guy he doesn't believe in would likely end up getting him fired too. He didn't do this to appease the damn fans.
Why do you think your opinion fueled by extensive research of Tanny, is more valuable than Ireland's, the scouts', Sherman's, Philbin's?
