Ryan tannehill will be a successful, better than what we've had qb since Marino, in the near future. Count me in on the tannehill bandwagon. I have gone through a bunch of tape....some rushed throws, some bad decisions. But the kid is smart, motivated, has all the tools and WILL blossom into a very good nfl qb. I hope he is our pick tomorrow.
After I saw the QB camp with Gruden I was sold. I've never really seen a QB hit an out route from the OPPOSITE HASH in college. Ridiculous arm strength, and a lot of good reads plus accuracy.
...now, with all that out of the way. How is it going to feel when we inevitably trade down and continue to shore up the lines?
I don't think there are many people that wouldn't trade down provided they were offered enough compensation and were guaranteed a good prospect to draft in an area of need.
Luck yes. I haven't seen Weeden or RGIII make that throw with that much strength and accuracy however. I'm not saying they haven't but even Gruden himself said after watching ALL the tape on the QB's he and Luck are the only ones who attempted that throw.
Which is fine. I'm not saying you're wrong at all. I'm just deferring to a football mind I respect because unfortunately I haven't been able to see even 50% of the snaps they have taken. I can only base my opinion from what I have seen right? I'll look to see if I can find either of those guys making that throw, I believe you I mean its not like you'd lie.
Hey sometimes you're right and sometimes you're wrong huh? I guess it took Gruden to show me I was wrong
I appreciate the call Sick, I got Weeden being the better player, and I wouldn't take him at 8, but I hope your right and I'am wrong...
I laughed, and then.... You know, he made a pretty good WR. Certainly good enough to compete for a starting spot with the state of our current WR corp. I'd rather we get the QB spot resolved though.
Need to add at the front: Love the discussions here. Here's the funny thing. There's a great deal of debate about Tannehill, whose sold on him and who is not. There is probably no doubt that he is overhyped and overrated. I have watched him several times. I have no idea. Sometimes I like him, and won't be disappointed if he's drafted by Miami, but - overall - I have some doubts and think he's overrated. But, the plain fact is, so is RG III. He's a great college player. But, he could still be a bust. It's very interesting that while there were a few (there always are, aren't there?) who liked him better than Luck in the season, most had him as a prospect about where many have Tannehill these days: in the 8-10 range of talent . It really was Tony Dungy that got the ball rolling on RG III. He may become a very good NFL QB. There's no doubt he'll make a ton of plays. But, for one, he's not Cam Newton (as some have tried to compare), imo, for some simple reasons: he does not nearly have the size and physicality to take hits; he doesn't have as strong an arm - or ease of throwing it. RG III also played in a pass-happy league where defenses regularly gave up 30+, 40+ points a game. He may become a great NFL QB. Or not. My point is, it's a crap shoot. It always has been and always will be. If people knew how good Tom Brady would have been he'd have been the #1 pick. If they knew what Ryan Leaf would have been, he'd have been a post-draft free agent signing instead of the #2 overall pick in the draft (he might actually have lasted in the league a lot longer). Same with Akili Smith (#3 overall). In a QB obsessed league, we, including NFL pundits & GMs, can convince ourselves about players we like or don't like. We can convince ourselves that a 5'11 guy will make it as a starting, championship calibre QB. Maybe. Maybe not. We can - as many (even draft gurus) on this board did - convince ourselves that John Beck somehow has the intangibles to be a really good starting NFL QB. Who really knows? No one.
I'm of the opinion that we could trade down to 15 or so and still get Tannehill. I don't buy this talk of the Chiefs or Seahawks wanting him.
I continue posting here like I never started this thread. I have some pull around here, I know mods, they will make this baby disappear for me [admin]We can make it re-appear too! ... lol[/admin]
I would love that. But I don't see anyone available that someone would trade up. Unless its the eagles for cox infront of the panthers.
Weeden was/is my first choice but gotta admit, Tannehill really grew on me after watching numerous highlights on tape. His smarts and arm strength cant be ignored.
Imagine dropping down to 14, Tannehill still being available, and we pick up a 2nd or another 3rd!?!? Scoop up some WRs!!
