I still think they'll reveal JGL as a young Raz Al Ghul fresh out of the lazarus pit at some point in the movie.
Says who? Burton's movies are actually pretty good, in my opinion. A little too artsy for my tastes as an adult, but me personally, I thought Jack was too over the top and basically did a Cesaro impression with a touch of a serious anchor to him. It was needed though, Joker went from being a comedy spoofed villain, to one of the most revered bad guys in entertainment through a nice, lifelong progression of actors. But I highly doubt that anyone can top Ledger's performance. He was THAT good.
I'd be surprised if that were the case. Remember Nolan is going for realism (or as realistic as possible), something like that wouldn't really fit in with his previous Batman movies. Plus they already cast a young Ras for (apparently) flashback scenes.
^^^ That. I thought Nicholson's version was just Nicholson in makeup. Wasn't the Joker at all. Not maniacal enough. The best representation of the Joker IMO is actually the one in the "Arkham" games. How sad is that?
Are you two chuckleheads really trying to say it wasn't accepted that Jack's Joker was the best ever at the time? Hell, many people were saying it when Ledger got the role before they saw the movie. And no, its not crazy the game version is the closest. Mark Hamil is and always will be THE Joker as will Kevin Conroy always be THE Batman.
My son loves the hell out of batman the animated series. I have about 20 between my living room and bedroom dvrs. It's on the HUB. so glad it's on. Best comic show ever.
See I have a problem with people saying that Mark Hamill is the best or THE Joker or that Kevin Conroy is the best or THE Batman. I don't deny that they're great in there voice roles however to be the best, in my opinion, you have to be able to act out the part as well and again while their voice and tones are great I can't say that it's better than either Ledger or Bale because they bring so much more to the characters besides the speaking parts. And yes SICK, Batman: TAS is by far the best comic book/superhero show ever. The 90s are just filled with great comic book/superhero cartoons like TMNT and also the X-Men and Spider-man cartoons.
Not much in terms of news about the movie right now. Buzz should start to pick up around May when the new trailer will be out. However yesterday Chris Nolan showed WB executives a rough cut of TDKR. No word on what they thought about the film or how long it ran.
Ooo! Let's spend hours speculating on what it means that the executives haven't leaked what they thought. As painful as that sounds it would at least take my mind of Duke for a while.
Catwoman has a gun this time. Maybe the whip will make an appearance at some point as well. BTW those are official Standees, so you'll probably see them in theaters...life size. I want that life size Catwoman one in my room!
I saw these a day or two ago, I find it interesting that Catwoman has a "new toy" instead of her classic whip. In my opinion it probably makes it more realistic and there has to be a good reason as to why.
Today WB confirmed the return of a character that has been part of the Nolan Batman franchise. I consider it to be a pretty big spoiler, although if you have read through this thread it won't come off as a shock. But anyway, read at your own risk: Spoiler Liam Neeson will be back as Ra's Al Ghul. Which again if anyone has been paying attention to the casting and news on this thread it shouldn't be a surprise as Nolan wanted to bring the franchise full circle and already cast actors to play a younger Ra's and a young Talia. I think this announcement pretty much means that Miranda Tate will be revealed as Talia too. It just makes too much sense. Of course how these characters fit in with the rest of the movie and characters will be the big mystery.
TDKR officially got a PG-13 rating yesterday. I know it's not real news but we're almost 100 days away from 7/20!
157 days for my huge family disney vacation, so I can't wait for TDKR cause it will mean I am very close to vaca!
6 new TDKR pics have been released via EW: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20483133_20586500,00.html#21145420 I like the Bat-pad pic the best.
The 3rd and final trailer will be coming out on May 4th in front of The Avengers! Can't wait to see new material.
Pretty cool to see a DC comic based movie in front of a marvel feature. Can't wait to see the trailer and the avengers!!!!
I've been searching and downloading.....err buying.... movies and tv series for my son lately, and just found out that a few years ago DC and Marvel had a crossover series that had the Justice League and Avengers teaming up. Apparently there were a few different crossovers. Its funny, but I kinda wish a was a bigger nerd and got into the stuff more when i was a kid.
I barely read them anymore, but I did happen to read that series. Also trying to get my daughter into it, but not having much luck
Some TDKR info from CinemaCon: http://www.batman-on-film.com/TDKRises_news_CinemaCon-2012_4-24-12.html
www.tdkr07202012.com If you go to that site they have still shots for Trailer #3. Basically thedarkknightrises.com has a contest going on getting people to go to certain locations across the world and taking a picture and submitting it. Each time one of the locations is found another still picture is shown.
I'm sure I will be either way but daaamn between this and Prometheus it's gonna be a hell of a summer.
Watch the new trailer now: http://tdkr07202012.com/ Holy crap is all I can say. This movie looks absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see it. Wow.
So Bruce is captured, and I'm thinking Catwoman is the one who breaks him out after helping Bane get him in the first place. Unless those bars she was looking through were in the cave. I can't wait...I wish it was June 20th instead of July 20th.
After that trailer, the way they were showing JGL, I think Nolan is about to make Batman into the Dread Pirate Roberts type thing where many people throughout time will carry the mantle (or cowl).
I think that theory is way too predictible for Nolan. There has to be some kind of surprise twist(s) coming. I don't think Bruce will die at the end of the movie but I think he will retire the Batman character and leave Gotham in the hands of Gordon and John Blake (JGL) to continue to clean up the city along with the good citizens themselves. But I admit even that is probably too predictible.
That look absolutely amazing. I almost wish they'd never make another batman movie after this film. I feel like nothing will ever be able to live up to Nolan's movies.
