I see many people saying Quentin Coples is our pick at DE, but what about Melvin Ingram? IMO he is a perfect fit and will succeed in the league

    Round one-Kuechly
Round two-Weeden if available. If he is already off the board, take the best available offensive player on the board. If this happens to be another offensive lineman, so be it.

He's strictly a 3-4 OLB IMO. I've been wrong before though.

If we stay where we are now, I would take DE Perry or WR Floyd at #8 and in the 2nd I'd like to get TE Fleener or QB Weeden I guess. I think it would be ideal to trade down and get some more picks

Along the lines of "what would you do" I have my target at #138 picked out.

10 picks to go, hopefully he makes it down there.

I was just going off of the fact that I'm not that high on Ryan, I'd love weeden but if we can't get him I wouldn't be as mad with another starter in the first and second rounds. Wasn't whining over it, just not sold on spending 8 for the 3rd best qb in the draft as everyone and their mother thinks

Jeffery is just so questionable to me. I mean, the guy would be the 2nd best WR, and challenge for top spot, if he wanted it, he just doesn't seem like he cares or really wants it...

As for Floyd, I am not as big of a fan as most. I think hes 3rd or 4th WR in this draft, and that's only because I am not positive of what Hill is right now with the offense he was in, in college. However, one reason I would trade into the mid 1st and draft a WR is because I would be fine with Wright, Floyd, or Hill in the first while picking up extra picks.

That's tough because Ireland wants to get someone that can come in day 1 and contribute and at 8 those players are

    1.DeCastro
    2.Ingram
    3.Kuechly
    4.Cox
    5.Rieff

I'm not really high on Coples but any of these listed above can play and start day 1 for us.

In round 2 They could either go value or need. IF Weeden is there I'd love to grab him but I doubt he makes it to us. Wideout might be the area targeted as there are a lot of good Wideouts with round 2 value. I'd like to see Ruben Randle at 42 if not get Vinny Curry or Kelichi Oseleme.

I don't see why anybody believes that. Philbin specifically talked about how he told Ross he had to be patient. GB was built slowly through the draft. They took a QB when they knew he would sit for at least a year and developed him rather than take a player who could contribute right away. Philbin was brought in to build this team using the same blue print.

Green bay also had a franchise QB and had Aaron Rodgers fall into their laps. Were the opposite no franchise QB and not really in a position to take a QB who is free fallin. Also I'm basing off what Ireland recently said when he said he wont feel pressured to take someone.

The fact that GB had an aging HOF QB should have made them more anxious to seek immediate impact. That's just not the blue print. And I don't see how Ireland saying he won't be pressured translates to "I want immediate impact".

Yeah that aging QB did pretty well after the fact. Rodgers got plenty of time to get acclimated to the NFL game. Tannehill really wouldn't have that luxury if Matt Moore gets injured or flat out sucks.

Just going based off him saying we need to get starter types in the draft. Everything I've heard from him states anyone but Tannehill at 8. I could be reaching but I wont be the least bit surprised if we pass on Tannehill at 8.

Ireland said his draft grades don't change much after the college football season ends. I highly doubt he had a top 15 grade on Tannehill in December.

At the end of the day it's all talk. No one on this board knows what player he is targeting at 8.

I'm curious as to what quote you're referring to. I've never heard Ireland say we need to get immediate starters or needing somebody who contributes right away or any words that would even imply that.

The only thing I remember him saying is that we need to get 2-3 starters out of this draft ut of course he tries to hit on every one. But then again I think thats kind of the general consensus. He went on to say how much value he sees in the later rounds of drafts and days will be spent breaking down players expected to be there in later rounds. I hope he doesnt spend so much time on the later rounds he misses on earlier ones!!

I've heard him say 2 or 3 starters also. I never thought he meant right away. He could of meant eventual starters.

I remember that as well. I agree that it is a general rule for what is considered a successful draft. I just get the impression that some people have mistakenly assumed that this means they have to be starters immediately. That is not a universal belief. I fact, I would say that placing importance on immediate impact is generally a trait shared by the poor drafting teams. By and large, the more successful teams are the ones that build through the draft by developing those players. Personally, it's gotten to the point that when somebody says they want immediate impact, I hear "I don't really want long term success". I know they don't mean that, but that's not what the draft is about. The cost of seeking immediate impact is often foregoing any chance of long term success. In fact, I would say that you're more likely to luck out and get immediate success when you seek the better long term player as they more frequently surprise and produce early.

Go listen to his interview with Joe Rose. He did say you want your 1st rounder to be a guy that has an immediate impact. He also said you want your 2nd rounder to come in and have a role, and beyond the second round you want guys who have the ability to develop into the above.

Also, Joe Rose asked him what was the glaring need that he talked about slamming him in the face and Ireland replied (and I'm paraphrasing best I can): "We need to create more takeaways on defense. What causes takeaways? That's pass rush. We need more touchdowns on offense. Well what can do that? Protecting the passer is important in this world. That's one thing Joe Philbin has harped on me. We have to keep the QB upright."
