I've been racking my brain with all the different possibilities of how we can draft this year.

We can go the expected, Tanny with 1.08 and draft WRs and passrushers with the rest. Or we can draft Coples, then either trade up or remain still and select a QB next, each option with its own risks.

Well, he is my latest line of thinking, by no means is this "my mock" but what do you guys think?

Trade down and grab Fleener and at least an extra 2. Pick Curry or your favorite pass rusher and Chris Givens in the 2nd. With the rest of the picks you grab at least one more good wr prospect and Russell Wilson. I like Toon, Broyles, Wylies, etc...

So, what do you think? I do this bc I think Wilson is the 3rd best QB, and I also wouldn't he too concerned with Moore/Garrard.

There is no way I would draft Coples. No way. No how. And I am a die hard Tarheel fan. Also, I wouldn't throw a number 8 pick at Tannehill. He is a 2nd rounder at best and that is too much of a reach. HUGE reach. I don't get why so many people are all over him. There is, in my opinion better value if we draft BPA in #1, then grab a QB in 2. The talent drop off at QB in the second round isn't that huge once you get past Luck. I'm not even totally sold on Griffin. Desperation can make you do stupid things. I hope the FO has its head screwed on straight.

Weeden would be a top ten pick if not for his age. His talent makes him worthy of a 2nd rounder IMO

Wheedon in the second, even with his age, is much better value than Tannehil at 8. WAY better value. And you're okay with wasting a number pick on a guy who is, unquestionably, a second rounder in almost any other draft? Come on bro...

i thinkits time to shock the nfl to its very foundatiion and trade up for Blackmon then draft all offense and wait until next draft to fix the defense because we have spread our needs out and it would be quicker to fix one side of the ball at a time. I pray we dont draft Tannyhill because he did nothing in college I haveseen him play and he wasnt even the 5 th best qb in the conference.

trade up get blackmon and get a qb next year and get the oline and wr corp stablized or trade down and get more picks it seems like we were bad on offense but the media is all focused on defense and that seems like spinning our wheels again.

If they pass on Tannehill, they better do what ever it takes to maneuver for him or Weeden later.

Ever wonder how Matt Moore or Chad Henne would've looked if they were playing in the Big 12 last year? I thought about it and IMO both guys would've lit it up vs Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech etc. And I think most of the Qbs in the NFL would've done the same. Not saying Weeden wont be a good player at some point point before he turns 40, I just wonder if the grass is as greener as people think.

I'd draft Coples. Taking plays off in college is overrated. Ask Haloti Ngata how that affected him his final year.

Coples or Tannehill are the only considerations for me at 8 barring Luck or RG3 happening which isn't happening. QB and pass rushers are the only positions I really want to know about with top 10 picks unless there's an elite CB, WR or LT available which I dont see happening. I dont see Blackmon or Floyd as elites personally so before anyone asks, no, they dont qualify.

I dont want to know about Weeden before round the late 3rd/early 4th...I dont think hes that good and personally Id take Osweiler over him. I wouldnt even think twice about it. Gave my thoughts on Weeden here: http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?69771-What-if/page2

As for my thoughts on how I want the draft to play out for us:

8: Ryan Tannehill (Coples is the pick if Tannehill is gone...if both are gone, move down imo)
    42: Alshon Jeffery
73: Marvin Jones (or Chris Givens...two best route runners in this draft.)
    74: George Iloka FS
103: Cyrus Gray RB, Texas AM (continuity and knows the offense)
    145: Tony Bergstrom OT Utah
    196: Chase Ford TE, Miami
    215: Cliff Harris CB Oregon

I'd pass on RB until round 6 or 7. I'd pass on Jones for a DE.

Reggie Bush is closing in on 30 and has 1 year left on his deal. Gray would be excellent value there imo. I dont feel there will be a DE worth taking there. And on top of that I think Jones could be the best WR from this class. There, I said it. I love the guy in this offense. Screams Jennings clone to me.

That's my votes as well, and if for some reason if Weeden goes before we pick, Russell Wilson is the man. Throw in Devon Wylie, tank carder and me happy with either Qb.

Personally I'd like to see something like this.

Trade back and grab another second rounder.

    1) Fleener
    2) RT/DE (BPA)
    2) WR (BPA)
    3) Osweiler
    3) DE/RT (Whichever you didn't take in the 2nd)
    4) Tommy Streeter

I 110% agree.. there is much more to a draft than the BPA strategy... a franchise qb is more than a need for us at this point, it is so critical that our staff pulls their heads out of their *** and realize you cannot suffice with being optimistic about your mediocre qb in this league anymore like weve done with almost every qb for yearssss. Tannehill will be the best qb available at 8 so we need to take him, if hes gone and we have to take weeden there, so be it. Last years group of qbs taken early 1st round were not all 1st round talent but thats how it happened because of team needs. Philbin I would assume understands the significance of a great qb so I think he will push to make the right mover here and if Ireland doesnt realize it yet then ill be damned... There is no way Philbin allows his first year as our head coach ride on moore and gerrard without knowing we have a young talent behind them with a future and furthermore, there is NO WAY irish allows his last year under contract ride solely on moore and gerrard either.

    Tannehill, Weeden or im pissed

if they take anyone other than tannehill or weeden, they should just give that pick away...these other qb's are garbage...i'll say it again, if they can't get either of those two, don't even draft one...drafting wilson, osweiler, moore, foles or cousins would be wasting a pick they could use elsewhere

If you subbed Givens for Jones I'd like your draft slightly more, but I'd be happy if what you have is what we came away with. I'd prefer a pass rusher in rds 2 or 3 though.

that would be my favorite too, but I don't see us being able to get both. if we trade our #8 pick and move down so we can select Weeden later, I think Keuchly gets scooped up by someone else.

I like my draft better but this wouldnt upset me for the most part if we went with a good DE in round should someone unexpectedly fall. I am not a Vinny Curry fan though and I think thats way too early for a RT when the best two RT's for this offense are Tony Bergstrom and Nate Potter imo.

Givens wouldnt upset me though I do like Jones slightly more. I like them both. The problem with pass rushers in this draft is that i dont see a lot of real good ones. I see a lot of talent at other positions though and so I figure cash in on what we can. I mean sure if Melvin Ingram falls to 42 I can certainly live even though I love Alshon more then most.

I'm not concerned with age. Reggie Bush is still very much fresh as NO never ran him down. With Miami moving up to take DThomas I'm pretty comfortable at RB not take one towards the end of day 3. Guy like Bolden or Michael Smith in round 6 or 7 I'd be happy with. You can find quality back up RB late.

You guys surprise me...I'd say it's 50-50 that we won't come away with either guy. First, Tannehill is just good enough that someone could jump in to take him before us (or Cleveland will) and Weeden won't last till our pick in the second, if Tannehill is taken earlier than us... Wilson, Osweiller are both after thoughts in this draft and won't be taken by Irish. I don't think it's in Ireland's DNA to take a QB that early. He's had Parcells drumming into his skull for years that no QB is needed for a team to excel in the NFL...

That said, if Tanny is there at 8 and we stay there it would mean that there might be one of the top 6 guys still there and a trade down partner might be available to us... I'm not a big Weeden guy, but he's the next best option after Tanny, Luck and RG3 so if we trade down, look for Weeden...

All that trash spewed out there, I don't think Ireland has the cojones to pass on Tanny if he's there. The pressure will be too much from the owner all the way down to the fan base...
