Go on... Tell me what a rebuilding process is. Because you and I both know it's exactly as I described. And it's not what we got. We were signing players to big deals right out of the gates.

Again, there is no point. You have your idea of reality that is based on something and you are not moving. If someone says the sky is blue, shows you a picture that the sky is blue, shows you the science why the sky is blue, you will still say it is pink.

Cam can simply look at James Harrison (or even John Abraham) and feel that he has as much left in the tank considering his diet & training regimen combined with less wear and tear. He's looking less forward to being franchised than you believe; he's looking forward to being paid for at least 4 more years of what he likely believes will be a high level of performance.

John Abraham would love to be getting paid a franchise tender.

I figured. Can't refute it. It's how Ted Thompson rebuilt the Packers. It's how the Colts got rebuilt, and are about to be rebuilt again after enjoying 12 years of Title Contention. It's how the OKC Thunder rebuilt. We had that chance and blew it. Twice. Hopefully Philbin is smart enough to realize it.

Yeah, b/c he'll be 34 this year. That's apples to oranges. Even at a soon to be 34 he signed a 3 year $16.0M deal.

My bad. I thought you were saying that b/c Abraham would love the franchise tag this year that it means Wake would, too. I didn't realize you were making a generalized statement.

Either way, if you look at what Cameron Wake has made his entire career, $12M is still a lot of money. Considering how few years he has left, I don't think he's dumb enough to throw away that $12M.

He can rush the passer, and set the edge on the run
    I guess Mayer a 4yr $30mil.

    I would take a 1st, maybe.

Accepting that 1 year of $12 million puts him one year closer to not being able to get that one final big contract. Personally, I think he'd rather get it all out of the way now so he doesn't have to worry about it next year.

You would maybe take a 1st for Cam? your crazy, no team would be willing to give that up except maybe oakland. I would take that in a heartbeat, yeah Cam has been productive but he is almost 30 and he didn't really show up when teams started game planning for him.

He was a beast last year regardless of getting less sacks. Couldn't run to his side.

I would take a 2nd for wake but I think were rebuilding so maybe I have a different view. Plus every time I think of wake now I see the play of him whiffing on tebow.

Not taking anything away from what he's done but a 1st round pick? teams treat that like gold.

You use a first round pick and hope he turns out to be Cameron Wake. Just saying. 30 isn't over the hill, especially for a guy like Wake.

I do think you might be exaggerating a bit Todd  however based upon what IS known about Wake it seems like a fairly valid assessment. The problem IMO is that it is extremely hard to build a character profile of someone with only 1/10 of the facts. None of us REALLY know Wake as a person. We just know he is an EXTREMELY dedicated football player.

This was a predictable scenario..it's not even a discussion as to whether he has outperformed his original deal, to let this player flounder and worry for one freakin day is ridiculous...Strictly on a snap by snap basis, including holding calls and pressures I could make a case that we've had the best outside pressure linebacker in the game for three years averaging 500'k per season..

I wouldn't play another day for the team if a new deal is not negotiated..

Now I read that last year we approached him so I was encouraged, and I don't want to jump the gun on any presumptions, but him missing one day of an offseason program is completely uncalled for in this scenario, especially considering the player involved, the work ethic that has been displayed by said player, and the incredible production relative to salary..

that's the thing that pisses me off the most, let's say we have a team that plays its *** off for 60 mins, the fans boycotting games and criticizing results that have not even transpired only hurts the passion and energy of

yup, just like I was when I broke down why he'd become an all pro, part of which involved the same psyche analysis that I'm using now. Come back when you have something meaningful to add argue with. Until then, you're the one talking out his arse.

that's a fine thought process on their end, but as for wake, this has crossed a line (if offer is not made)..these players are not robots, every man has a line, and outperforming by far an existing contract this low, and being not offered a new one, is crossing a line IMO..

Well see if it's true, I have a hard time believing that Ireland is taking this stance, very hard time..Cam wake is his baby... The thought of him taking this stance makes me livid personally.

    Devils advocate.

He signed his contract KNOWING that if he blew up and performed he was locked into a salary for X number of years. His contract that he WILLINGLY signed is not over. No excuse to miss a single day with his team. His agent can work on a new contract with this team the entire season.

Yeah tell that to any player who has ever been cut while under contract. This is not the nba owners wipe there *** with player contracts even Manning got cut. I think its fine for players to hold out if they feel there playing above there contract.

It really isn't the same thing at all.

What would be the same would be if a team signed a player to a massive contract, he bombed and the team asked him to negate the rest of his contract and sign for cheaper.

You don't have to know a person intimately (the non romantic way) to know their personality type and what their psyche is like. I wouldn't expect everyone to understand this, just as I wouldn't understand someone telling me how to hack into a company's mainframe.

I can see this stuff as easily as hackers see & understand ones and zeros. Am I ever wrong when it comes to it? Yes, but not very often, probably less than 1%.

During the times when I do say stuff of this nature (reading a person), I typically get nothing but criticism for it despite ending up being right almost every time. I'm not boasting, just defending the unwarranted criticism I'm receiving. So if you guys would rather have me shut up about anything related to this type of stuff in the future, just say so and I will. It's no sweat off my back if I don't pass along any insight I might have on person.

I just find it funny that some of you will appreciate a reputable person's on field assessment of a player, but when it comes to hearing an accurate assessment of the mental/psychological side, it all becomes nothing but criticism and insulting accusations of speculation, "LMAOs", etc. Apparently a person having an innate understanding of things psychology-related doesn't exist; natural talents only stem from being good with numbers, science, music, organizational skills, athleticism, etc etc. :001_rolleyes:

It was either that, or not play at all. Let's face it, players are basically hired guns nowadays. They may have a contract, but it's easily voided/transferred in most cases. I don't blame them for holding out.

Hell, it's nice to have a player of his caliber who even has the leverage to hold out.
