They're both the same age, they both played baseball...they're both the same age...they both played baseball....same age, too. Oh and they both played baseball.

Guess we just agree to disagree. Difference IMO is that the only "issue" anyone seems to see in Weeden is his age. Weinke never had first round talent. Weeden does.

IF I thought Weeden would be a good QB, i would suggest we draft him.

Last year most people wanted Kolb, pay Kolb, Kolb is the only good FA QB out there worth the money. Well Kolb sucked as I predicted and he will suck again this year. And just hink, AZ got all that for 63 million dollars.

The throwing motion is argueably similar, I would also argue Weeden played in a much more QB friendly offense.

I'am not sweatin it if Tannehill is taken by the browns, not when I have Weeden staring at me, Iam gonna be cool calm and collected, just like Weeden in the pocket..

First of all that was excellent analysis, and not just because it meshes with my own on the prospect, but just the mere depth of it was just hi level stuff, appreciate that kind of work.

Iam ready to disagree with Mayocks analysis and concerns, {he talked about how Weeden needs to speed everything up, feet, release, decisions}..I see a real fine Qb at the next level, upper echelon type, with a feel and touch for the game and the position that translates into peacefulness in my own mind..

Catchable ball..How many times do we need to hear that to understand the importance of it, I think Weeden throws the most catchable ball without sacrificing velocity, its a nice mixture of both..

I dont even think arm strength needs to be discussed in either of our prospects, they both can stretch every inch of the field, and put the proper speed on it relative to the situation, but Weeden has multiple speeds and Tannehill does not.

I don't think their close in comparison when it comes to who's throws are more catchable, only comparing Tannehill and Weeden here, cause Luck is king.

There are two things controlling our fate on this deccision, Holmgren and Sherman..but for me, I'am not trading up for Tannehill, and if he's taken by the browns, I will drop for Weeden, nobody else is gonna jump mid first round for this dude no matter how good some of us feel he projects..

If Sherman wants him at 8, then so be it, how am I gonna argue with that kind of iintel, I just feel that its not a big deal if the Browns take him when Weeden will be there..He's no 2nd place to Tannehill imo..

I feel comfortable is saying that when he takes the field in an Nfl game, he's gonna rip sh** up..

Define "most people". I knew almost nobody on this site that wanted Kevin Kolb. There might have been one person, I can't even remember who it was, but not a regular.

Can anyone answer me this about Sherman. If the guy is so nuts on why was he pushed out of Green Bay ? His short time in Houston after that was not great and again, was gone. His time at ATM was horrid. If he was not fired last Dec I think they big money alumni at ATM would have had him shot. Sherman since a few decent years at Green Bay has not really done anything to speak of.

Who here wanted Kolb? I know I was stridently against it. I recall CK being against Kolb as well. In fact, I can't recall any big threads or hot debates where people were demanding that we get Kolb.

Hope so....to us!!! The saw a new mock that shows us trading down with Tenn to and picking up #42. That sounds great, could get Weeden, WR, TE DE all in the first few rds.

Indeed. Awesome read. Makes me hope my childish whining over not landing Matt flynn was wrong and unwarranted. The more I see of weeden and read about him, the more I like him. I'd like him over Tanny regardless of age.

I don't see Weedon lasting to #42. IMO due to his age, his value is about #15 (it would be about top 5 if he were 24).

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ireland traded down, picked up Weeden and then Fleener/Kendall Wright. Wait, no. What's the opposite of "not surprised"? That.

    Great stuff, CK.

I would be thrilled with Tannehill or Weedon coupled with Fleener as our first two picks. I just don't think it's likely unless Fleener drops out of the first.

How come every time I read Draft Winds I feel like I am getting something I should be paying for? There are people who get PAID to discuss this kind of stuff that won't put half the effort you guys do nor do it a quarter as well. Simply Awesome!

I'm actually a pretty big fan of Weeden but he is one year older than our starting QB. Forget comparing him to the younger Tannehill - start comparing him to the younger Matt Moore.

Besides, as much as I like him, I think talk of him as a high 1st is a ThePhins creation. I have seen nothing similar on any board, website, news site, podcast or TV show. It just seems like Ryan Mallett 2.0 where people on this board were convinced (and started to convince others) that he was going high to mid 1st.

I want either Tannehill or Weeden at 8. If RT goes before 8 and they pass on BW, there better be a contingency plan to find a way to get him. Get Weeden with Chris Givens, Marvin McNutt, and Marvin Jones and I'll be very happy.

IMHO, One QB in this draft that is heads and shoulders better than Weeden. Only 1. One that is comprable, put up comparable numbers in the same Coference.
One in the same Conference that is being touted as much better.....but, really isn't...and then a bunch that might or might not pan out.

IF Weeden should fall to us in the 2nd, I think people are gonna be really really surprised how smart and talented this kid is. He is already a field general. He is going to do well at the next level.

I'm fine takin Weeden at 8. If he's the guy, it doesn't matter.

But what will happen is, we'll get cute, trade down and miss out on both Weeden and Tannehill. That's what happens with this franchise.

Or both will be sitting there and we'll take a defensive lineman.

The sound you will hear will be my screams :/ God thats the nightmare scenario isn't it? Still though I would love to be there as Ireland tried to sell Ross on a 3rd or 5th rounder as a franchise QB, I wonder if Philbin would back him up there? I'm guessing not.

I was never on that Mallett train. I was saying before the draft that he was a 3rd rounder.

    I say it with a light-hearted chuckle.

I've watched the team draft the opposite of what we expect for years now. At this point I guess I'm resigned to it.

Seriously though, would those scenarios not surprise you? We've seen it before.

I would think his time might grow shorter.

Ireland and Ross have both stated publicly that QB is a target for improvement. To not come away with one early would be treason. Not to mention (another) PR nightmare.

But is Weeden even an upgrade over what we have? I think this concern is exacerbated by the fact Weeden is actually older than Moore.

I don't see that as the pertinent question. The question should be about the talent, not the age. You only get Weedon if you think he's a potential franchise QB. It's pretty clear that they don't see Moore as a potential franchise QB.

I liked/like Mallett, but Weeden at 8? That would be a ludicrous reach.
