Well, lets see... Parcells is a hard nosed football guy who takes his profession very seriously. Taylor is known as a finesse player who apparently isn't taking his football seriously right now. Parcells watches intently as all his flock are hard at work trying to better that 1-15 record that they had last season and Taylor isn't there, he's off dancing somewhere. Now, what ever would give you the idea that Parcells might not be too interested in paying any attention to this prima dona ???

I'm sure Parcells will give him plenty of attention when he gets back and is trying to trade him.

Man, I LOVE JT and what he has meant to the franchise..but I think he should just STFU and get ready to play some football this upcoming season.

I think if Jason Taylor thought his relationship with Bill Parcells was frosty now, wait 'til Parcells hears Sunday's ESPN interview, in which Taylor says he hopes in 10 years he's known more for his acting than he was as a football player.

No joke. When I watched that my mouth dropped open, I crapped my pants, and then I thought about Parcells and how much he would enjoy hearing that from a guy who's shown no interest in being with his team mates OR interest in earnest about being a Miami Dolphin.

I could care less about JT missing minicamps and voluntary programs but this comment more than anything shows just how not intersted he is in football right now. The sad thing is, 5 years from now when he has failed miserably every step of the way in acting, he'll wish he was still able to play football. And he'd probably give anything to go back in time and pay attention to the thing he was special at. JT right now is like the actor that thinks he's a rock star and tries to have a band for a couple of years before remembering, "Oh yeah. I'm an actor. Not a musician." And when JT realizes he's a football player and not an actor, it's going to be too late for him. That's why he needs to wise up and focus on the football. Acting will be there for him to suck at in two years.

    Exactly.

I quoted you so everyone can read your post again. Watching Jason try to act is going to be laughable.

To me that just says he wants to succeed in acting.

Personally I'm not upset about Taylor and Dancing with the Stars. I find Parcells as being an immature prick, but that's nothing new...

Here is the thing with the acting comment...

If you actually listened to the comment, you would understand what he was saying. He was saying that he hopes people look at him as an actor 10 years from now, b/c that will mean that he has been a success as an actor.

We know him as a football player, and he will always be known as one in Miami. However, he is already way more known nationally as a dancer than he is a football player. If he is a success in a couple of movies, people will look at him as an actor.

He was just saying that he hopes to be successful, and if he is... people will look at him as an actor. Football fans will obviously always look at him as a football player. But the average person will look at him as an actor...

He was just on Mike and Mike and they asked him about the whole Parcells issue, he seemed irrattated by the question and basically didn't answer the question. He commented that when he was done with the dancing comp. things would work them selves out.

I just think we're seeing a guy that thinks he's bigger than the team.

Let's say you're a veteran that makes $1.5 million a year. Team changes front office and coaching staff, and wants to begin rebuilding this program into a winner. You decide that you have something better to do than to be around for the offseason weight and conditioning program. It's a voluntary participation, sure enough, so it is your choice to make. Do you honestly expect the staff to be calling you, sending you birthday cards, and showing how happy they are to have you with them? No. They give attention to the players that are THERE.

But, Taylor doesn't want to be treated like just one of the players. He wants to be treated special. He demands that everyone kiss his butt, otherwise he will make it abundantly clear to the press and people around him that he's unhappy.

Is it too much to ask that he say something like, "Both" in answer to the question? One simple word and he would at least be "acting" (pun intended) like he still cared about his football career.

It wasnt as if they asked him what he wanted people to think of him next year...

They asked him what he wanted people to think about him in a DECADE from now...

I see what you're saying, and it makes sense that in a decade he would want to be remembered more for acting because that would mean he's had a succesful acting career and people would remember him more for it because that's what he's done most recently.

But JT is a smart guy. He realizes people are going to ponder and debate every sentence that comes out of his mouth right now. So he could have answered the question as, "I hope people remember me for both, as I hope to be succesful in both..." or something like that. Right now the only thing he's had any serious success in is football. That's what earns him a living. He could at least pay it some lip service while he's still a member of this profession and this team.

Since when have you ever known JT to give lip service or care what other people think? JT has always been straight forward and says what he thinks. Hes never cared what people think about him or his comments... and I dont think he is going to start now.

5 yrs when JT's name is brought up it wont be because he was on dwts. It will be over the defensive phenom he was in his career. I also dont see him getting labeled as a "diva" when talked about as well.

Exactly. Taylor is doing a little too much thinking about Taylor. That isn't going to blend well with our current leadership, not just Parcells.

On a side note - Odell Thurman was cut by the Bengals today for not showing up to voluntary workouts.

I think Taylor is done in Miami. It's a shame too because if he still had his fire he may have enjoyed playing in Parcells system.

The two go hand in hand Dolfan.

    Sparano on his philosophy:
"I’ve been with Bill Parcells now for five years. Part of the process in Dallas and now here in Miami has always been to build this thing from the middle out. Big guys are hard to come by in our league. If you can get them and keep them, that’s going to be important for us down the road. Acquiring big guys who are athletic, getting them as strong as they can possibly be, and keeping them in house for a while, is going to be a big priority with this football team."

"The reason I believe we’ll succeed is that we are bringing in players who we believe have the right make up, players that have the qualities to succeed in this league. I have also surrounded myself here with some of the best coaches that I could find. I think what we’ve done here in the offseason from a strength and conditioning program has been different from what they’ve done here in the past. All of those things we believe will provide results."

These coaches and FO people clearly believe that the offseason condtioning program is a huge aspect of our new philosophy. If you are wondering "why" Parcells is acting like a $%#&* or "why" Ireland isn't going out of his way to ask how the dancing is going on, perhaps its because they feel JT should be in Miami working with his team. He didn't have to dance this season. He has the rest of his non football life to do that stuff.

Maybe its just me, but I have a feeling that this group of coaches and FO made it clear to ALL of our players that there was an EXPECTATION for them to be in the off season program. Maybe they are handling things theyway they are because they are disappointed in choices being made that show a lack of committment after they went out and communicated their philosophy.

I dont even think this is about "control"... I think it's about our staff wanting to help JT become a better player and leader in the new Dolphins organization. I'm glad the staff has the nads to send the message that it isn't ok to miss our off season program. If it's as good as advertised our team will benefit greatly from it.

Yeah, why bother to have an off season program that builds team unity and keeps players in football shape. Who needs that with all the success we've had.

Sorry folks but I am so totally sick of this whole issue I'm refusing to even comment on it. What happens to JT happens, nothing I can do about it, this issue makes me so sick I refuse to even think further about it. I love JT and wish him the best. I hope that "best" is playing REALLY WELL for US next year and I don't care whether Parcells likes that or not, or whether JT likes that or not. Just get us 25 sacks next season JT, and STFU already!

sorry for the rant, grrrr . . . . :tantrum:

Shame with what JT has brought to the Dolphins in his career he had to make a dumb move IMO and go galavanting with other celebs to get himself noticed on the tv/media circus. Great player but hes tarnished himself with throwing himself to the hollywood circuit too early. He wont be an A-List star and never will be so its a shame he cant just knuckle down and do what he does best. Football.

In the interview JT says that he's looking at acting AFTER his career in football is over. He's recognized his time is running out and acting is for the next stage in his life. You're blowing things out of proportion.

    Yep....

All the signs are there that he's losing interest and his age will soon become a factor as well. I just wish we'd find a trade partner and get something for this guy before he simply walks off into the sunset.

Point is that even if he does get 25 sacks next year, it's not going to get this team anywhere. Were in full out rebuild and still have a number of holes that are going to kill us next year. Getting a young player or a draft pick to select a young player that can contribute to our future is a much better play right now. I just hope he hasn't damaged his value to other teams with all the hints at his interest in football wanning.

He's starting to sound more and more like ocho cinco.

If he's unhappy that Parcells is ignoring him, he's going to be MUCH more unhappy once the Tuna has his attention & is sticking his foot up his arse on the field...:tongue2:
