I haven't watched enough of tannehill to really have an opinion on him but I do have a red flag for only starting 19 games. With the signing of garrard and the release of marshall it seems all the signs are there that the front office is targeting tannehill. What is the next move if the browns draft him?
There is no guarantee we're going after Tannehill. You'd think since everyone thought we were gonna get Manning, go for Flynn, Smith etc., hen none of that was true, we'd temper our assumptions.
I agree! How could he let that happen! Out on the West coast, 3 of the various Sports radio programs I listen to (1190 AM) have said they think Tannehill to Browns is gaining steam. fyi I think we have our QB's for this season already with Garrard, Moore, and Devlin, in that order of depth.
because there is a player named Brandon Weeden Coach that is a very good Qb, and I think the decision is based on what's a better combination, Tannehill and our #2, or Bpa at # 8, and Brandon Weeden.. The ace in the hole is our coach Mike Sherman, he knows both very well.. If I can get a combination of Kuechly\Weeden or Fleener/Weeden, I've got to think about that real hard.. That's the point i'am at in this evaluation..
I have watched alot of weeden and I really like him despite his age.I am just not sure if they are going to try to move in the vikes spot to get tannehill. That would be to pricey for my taste.
And what happens when Weeden is taken before our next pick? The answer to the OP: What happens is Ireland has another excuse for why in his 5th year as GM he's done nothing to address a glaring need at the game's most important position.
Once a week , when I have someone to watch my paraplegic dad, since I'm his primary caregiver....why?
I like Brandon Weeden, but I don't believe a new coach will start his tenure by drafting a 28/29 year old QB. If Tannehill is taken at #4, I think the Dolphins would be wise to take the best player available outside of Trent Richardson or any defensive tackle.
I believe Browns will pick Richardson. They need to find the guy to replace Hillis & Richardson is that guy, esp when cold weather hits.

Besides his lack of playing time what don't you like about him?I would like to hear both sides because I didn't see any texas am games this year.
It's a hairy situation for us, but to have Sherman in this equation is another Philbin/Flynn scenario, having to had coach against Weeden, where you truly have to break his film down, and compete against him, seeing him on a level playing field is just outstanding intel.. I really like him to bro, and am battling this combination scenario..Weeden has this vision of the field that Tannehill is lacking at this point, obviously because of the exp, but Weeden is seeing things well, and throwing accurately from a good platform, and a follow thru that gives me confidence he can do it at a high level on the next level..The eyes are seeing the target, the finish is on point..
Who do you think would have more upside down the road?If we did draft tannehill I would think he could sit a year or two but weeden could probally compete for the starting postion right away.
you didnt miss much texas A&M was way overrated and Tannehill is a good qb but he wasnt in the top5 qb's in the big 12 he wq 6th or 7th . he is similar to Joey Harrington .
That's a good question, my answer to it is, IMO, teams that choose after us will not spend their first round resource on a 29 year old Qb unless they are desperate, which I don't see.
I thought he played very well, especially with a defensive unit that was subpar, and receivers that dropped an inordinate amount of balls.
Dont be shocked at anything Also dont be suprised if Browns take Blackmon at 4. You heard it here first. Holmgren does believe in MCCoy, now he could still take Tannehill and have both thinking McCoy starts in 12 builds his value for a trade and if not then they cut him no harm no foul. But Holmgren understands their line sucked, he had no WR and an aging TE. McCoy was stuck behind teh 8 ball. They may just take Blackmon at 4 and he and little are 1-2 with Cribbs no a #3 slot and gadget play receiver. they will draft oline 22 and come back RB in rd 2. That is my belief. They love Barkely and believe that if McCoy bombs they have put major weapons in place and will go all in Barkely next year. This is my belief based on snippets I hear up here near Clev this is no way shape or form inside info, just my own gut feeling If they do go Tannehill, then I would love for us to trade down and acquire more picks, draft Weedon later in rd 1 cause he doesnt make it to 2nd rd IMO. Weedon is a very good potentially great qb with teh drawback is a shorter career window. If not I will be disappointed and upset but would hope we get someone like Russell Wilson later. He would fit Philbins offense very well IMO
More upside down the road?, it's pretty even, you have a cerebral drop back qb with underrated athleticism, with very good arm talent, that can play in this system or Tannehill that gives you that element of running if the play breaks down, however, I don't think Tannehill will ever be a better thrower of the football or more accurate than Weeden.. The point i'am really trying to stress is that # 8 spot...if we like both Qb's, weighing the player we can get at 8 becomes pivotal in the decision.
I am going to sound absolutely out of my mind but I am not convinced that Devlin isn't worth watching. I was looking at a few games of his and while the competition is sub par he just does things that QB's his age do not do very well. He also has deadly accuracy and I mean pin point. Wherever this kid wants to put the ball it goes. I'm not saying lets bank our future on Devlin but if you actually take the time to watch this kid you just come away wondering how he was not drafted.
The post was perhaps slightly harsh. I don't hate the idea of Tannehill. I'm just not sold on him and I think 8 is too high for a guy who only has 15 career starts. I guess my fear is he's the next Mark Sanchez, in that he hasn't started many games at the college level, but all the "intangibles" and "upside." If Weeden wasn't 29 he'd much higher rated than Tannehill, IMO. I'd rather address the huge hole we've created at WR by drafting Floyd or Blackmon (if he falls to us) at 8 and then taking Weeden with our 2nd pick.
I like Devlin but not sure he isnt Fiedler. and I liked Jay. If Jay was as smart as Chad P he would have been very good or had arm strength he would have been great. But he couldnt anticpate as fast as penny did, thus couldnt throw open receivers to spots like Penny and thus defenses had less field to cover and were able to sit on routes. That is my issue with Devlin, is he cerebral enough to overcome his limitations?
I'm not sure about his arm strength but IMO that isn't the most difficult thing to build as a young QB in a proper training environment. As for brains I have absolutely no idea. I do know that watching him, he comes off of his first read and locks on to his next target better than any QB his age I've seen in the last few drafts not named Andrew Luck. Plus the ability to put the ball EXACTLY where he wants it. The question is does he have the either the arm strength or anticipation to get it through those smaller NFL windows. Kind of interested to see if Philbin can develop him any. Into at least a very solid backup.
no doubt and hopefully OTA and Minis he shows something. I do believe he could develop into a solid backup at least. He is a no risk option so why not see what he has
I would not at all be against that. But IMO they are all in on Tannehill. Signing Garrard says to me that they are looking at he or Moore to play in 12 while Tannehill sits. Weedon plays now, Weedon is ready. I like Tannehills cieling just a bit more, but not much
Garrard vs Moore should be a very interesting QB race to say the least. I think a lot of people forget how accurate and mobile Garrard can be. Very important things in a Philbin offense. Moore has a little bit more down the field passing ability and in my opinion has never been in a really good offensive system where his skills were showcased rather than swept under the rug by poor coaching. He also has a very natural athleticism. Not to say either is or will be our future but I think we get better play from our QB position than a lot of people think.
From what I hear they do like Brock Osweiler. My brother in-law talks to Mike Dee sometimes. No inside info just a few small conversations.
No surprise on this it is expected. If for some reason Blackmon was to fall to #8 and we picked some sub par QB i'd be pissed.
