Just read the article. Perhaps this could signal a change in attitude about not speaking in public as much about past decisions and moves, and also about the fact that they have long term plans, some of which they will still not disclose - but there is some rhyme and reason to some of the actions.

Excellent PR. Doesn't cost a penny. The only way you could beat that would have been to have Ireland come out, cross the street and talk to the protesters. That would have been a master stroke.

So they were going to outright RELEASE a TOP 5 WR! LMAO. It sound like spin control to make Irelands idiocy look better.

Then why did they only get two 3rd for this top-5 receiver? Surely someone was offering more.

    On Peyton Manning:
That could be an indictment of Ireland OR it could be indictment of a 6-10 with a new HC. Both are equally plausible.

    On Flynn:
That solves that. Philbin didn't think Flynn was good enough.

Here is my issue, if they felt Marshall had to go, I'd disagree with it but understand their reasoning, however, you still have to replace him with someone, and Ireland did not do so, if it was not about the money then why not spend that money on a FA Wr who is ready to contribute?

Anyone else notice Ross called Philbin "my coach"?

  9. Sounds like a cop out in regards to marshall. Even if he is a problem with as many holes as the team has u keep him around at least 1 more season if you can't get a value trade for him.

    Wooooow.

If that's true about how nobody but Chicago wanted him then that says a lot about how he's viewed throughout the league.

From BMarsh's comments during Pro Bowl week he obviously didn't appreciate the QB that put him in the show. Just a bad teammate. You can't saddle a new HC with that kind of drama right out of the gate. The sad part is that Brandon has all of the physical talent to be in discussion with Megatron, Fitz and VJax but will never come close to reaching his potential because of his illness.

I felt the same way about Flynn, if Philbin was willing to put his 1st HC gig on the line with him, then I was all for it.

There is just something about Philbin I really like and I can't put my finger on it. I hope the players feel the same way and respond accordingly.

    Article says:
Looks like no else wanted Marshall. I guess 6 TDs last year is not the kind of production teams are yearning for. Especially when that player could be suspended.

I don't buy that all Marshall's problems stem from the bipolar disorder.

I think he'd be an idiot with or without that issue.

Right. I didn't know being drawn to a nightclub like a moth to a light was a symptom of bipolar disorder either.

    Floyd or Blackmon.

There wasn't a WR of his talent that was worth the money in FA this year, imo.

With a new offense as well? Drafted Wr's typically take awhile to learn the ropes, unless they are just incredibly physically talented, we'd be better off rolling the dice on Braylon Edwards or Plax Burress imo.

Exactly about the night club comments, this is a lesson I learned personally if it is causing a problem, you change your behavior, he doubled down on it and got into trouble yet again, that is not mental illness that is immaturity.

That'd go against getting rid of idiots by bringing in one of those two. Neither of them has the talent to be a "#1 WR" either.

Typically rookie WRs do take a while to develop, but I don't see another option. Aside from trading for Johnathon Stewart and taking some heat off our WRs.

Hmm, imo, Burress was effective once he got his game legs under him, Edwards is just about out of chances, and neither needs to be a "#1 wr", we need someone who the Qb knows will get open when they need someone to get open and both would be cheapy signings.

I somewhat like our Rb situation, especially with resigning Slaton, and DTrain COULD develop and Messam and Thigpen are both good prospects, without that Wr that MMoore or Garrard can go to, this offense won't have much punch to it.

According to the article Marshall was going to be cut for "Team Morale".......is this guy a locker room nitemare??

I like what Ross did here. He let us know we matter. He settled things by letting us know what was happening. We may not agree but a leader recognizes the need to intervene. Mr Ross did that and he has earned my respect!! I may not agree with most of it but it feels better to know we do indeed have a direction.

I think Burress is on his way out w/his ankle problems. Edwards is just wildly inconsistent. Both seem to ride the shortbus so that's plenty of a reason to pass on both for me.

I hate our RBs lol. Outside of Bush being a great receiving threat, there's little to be happy about. I don't see one RB on our roster that's a reliable between the tackles runner. Waiting to see what happens w/Thomas would be very unwise, imo. Not saying cut him, but we need another option.

Well, I was not thrilled with DTrain by the end of the yr, maybe nagging injuries, but he was not as powerful as he had been earlier in the yr, and you have to give Jerome Messam some looks between the tackles, I watched him play last yr and he was good.

Padre if it's late August and this is the WR core we go into the season with then sure you got a valid complaint. Chances are they'll draft a couple WR's and bring in undrafted guys also. They'll most likely see how they progress through camp and if need be see who drops from the late free agent tree. They also have a 3rd rounder to use as ammo next year if there is someone they could pry loose. Remember we got Pennington as a late cut, Bush was a July trade etc.

Thing is, it is better to have them in Miami now as the new offense is being installed, this negates the learning curve, and helps the offense get ahead of the game, for example Garrard has a playbook to be sure, so does MMoore, it would better if the vet Wr had it as well as Chad Johnson showed in NE last yr, sometimes they don't pick up the offense.

Eh....any veteran WR worth his salt should be able to come in as late as mid July and still have his **** together by the regular season. Especially if they are picked up from a similar style offense...then it's more terminology then anything. You could argue he could use timing with the QB......but again how much time did he have with Matt Moore? Probably very little.

Stupid is as stupid does...a PATHETIC attempt at damage control.

I agree with getting rid of Marshal, but flat out releasing him?

Didn't want Flynn, yet brought him in for a visit and offered him a contract. How do some fans believe this crap? Beyond me. Our owner likes to offer contracts to players our team doesn't want...

Is Ross really this ****ing stupid? Alex Smith turns down an $8 million contract with a team that went 13-3 and one game away from a Super Bowl, but Ross thinks he can fly him in for a visit and Smith would settle for less with Miami...****ING IDIOT!!!

Reminds me of when Ross denied going after Harbaugh last year and tried to do damage control by offering Sparano an extension.

I do not like that approach VDP, it strikes me as not serious, if OTA's and the rest of it mean anything, then the vet Wr should be here for them.

    Hey Ross...definition of "REMORSE" is:
deep and painful regret for wrongdoing; compunction.

Easily remedied by offering Bell the contract he had when he was cut...I call B.S. on Ross.
