    Coaching.

Why isn't coaching being brought up in regards to the Dolphins losing seasons? All I see is blame for Ireland and Ross. I've asked this question a couple of times and I don't think anyone has answered me.

If Bill Bilichick were our coach the last few seasons, do you believe the Dolphins would have made the playoffs?

True, and that's why all this nonsense that's going on with the media and the fans, is so shortsighted, they have no ability to compartmentalize their criticism, and allow our new coach to develope his team and culture, their to busy enjoying hearing themselves criticize.

It was said, in the form of them selling their FL homes.

I've said all along that I support Philbin and his coaching staff. They deserve it and need it from everyone.

    Ireland is a different story.

Who's talking about Philbin? He hasn't coached one game as a Dolphin yet. I'm talking about the past 10 years of coaches.

    Clueless, dysfunctional, unstable.

Those three words best describe out coaches over the last 10 years.

Then why don't they get some of the blame around here? Those fired seem to get no blame and the ones who actually stick around are to blame? How does that work?

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying it was kind of represented by that (them being fired). They should get some blame for sure though, and I assume you're talking about the fanbase and media, so I agree.

When **** hits the fan, it always goes straight to the top, though (Ireland). It's like that anywhere though, not just the NFL. Happens at my job every day.

Look at bilichik before NE. He wasnted even slighty an "offensive genius" . coaches really only get praised for some spectacular happenings/teams, and a decent amount of success regardless of the reasoning. I'm sure they love Coughlin again now after NY won the superbowl, mid season they were all asking for his head and hoping he got the axe.... Or atleast dislike him less, anyway.

Either way, I'm still agreeing with you, but that's just kind of how it is. Were the coaches to blame? Sure. More than Ireland? Maybe. Does it matter becasue people will go to the top and blame Ireland anyway? Not really. It's a lot easier to hate the guy who has been the only constant after the staff overhaul.

No doubt. Some assistants have been great, but as a whole it has been a fustercluck for a long time. Starting with Jimmah insisting that Wanny replace him.

I think we raked Sparano over the coals quite often and for good reason. He is a great person, horrible head coach.

I know you weren't disagreeing. I haven't been here long and was asking why the coaches (past) aren't getting more blame. I understand that those at the top get the blame, like the QB gets too much praise and too much blame, but that doesn't make it right. Especially when we KNOW that our coaches sucked and we don't know what is/was Parcells and what is/was Ireland...yet. We will know soon enough I suspect.

And just a little FYI, Belichick is still not thought of as an offensive genius. He's always been a defensive guy. One of the best ever. I'm not sure how old you are, but even Joe Montana had a hard time against BB's defenses back when he was with the Giants. Look at Montana's stats against those defenses if you get a chance.

I agree. I don't think Sparano has the mental acumen needed to be a head coach. He's a great guy, the players loved him, but he's better off as an assistant. IMO.

Since when have the coaches been given a pass? I see Ireland getting far more of a pass than Sparano did. I agree, our coaching has been largely sub-par. So has our GM.

Coaches mean alot, so does the system however losing some key free agents and replacing them with "cheaper" talent screams of cost savings not determined to win out to me sorry my Aqua glasses fell off a few month ago and I cant find them anymore.

Oh, believe me, we've mentioned coaches. No one is giving those guys a pass. Ultimately though, if Bill Belichick was coach of these Miami Dolphins teams, with these same exact players, his record would be marginally better at best.

I don't see any posts on the front page talking about coaching, do you?

GM's are supposed to bring he talent to the coaches. The coaches are supposed to coach them up. This team has talent. Yes, Marshall being gone sucks, but he punched a woman in the face and is a liability. He needed to go. I'm just glad we were able to get what we did for him. When he's cut or suspended from the Bears and they get nothing I'll be even happier.

No coach since Shula has coached any of our players UP. Not one. Philbin may be the one. And if he is, we haev enough talent to win in this league. Yes, we have holes, who doesn't? Yes we need a QB, 20 other teams in the NFL need a QB too. If it were that easy all teams would have their QB right now.

I just don't see that as the case. BB is able to get out of players what no one else can. He takes other teams rejects and turns them into stars. He's done it time and time again. How many Patriots, who after playing at an All Pro level, leave the Pats never to be heard from again? Most? All?

Ask Tony Sparano if no one blamed the coach.

Ross & Ireland were at the top and gave Sparano the new contract.

Besides, it was mentioned. Isn't the "fist pump" feature on this site just a way of making fun of/hating on Tony Sparano? And during our losing streak I remember a majority of Dolphins fans calling for his head.

That's how it's done in Dolfandom. Henne was the scapegoat, then Parcells, then Sparano. They're all gone so Ireland is now the chosen one.

I vote that the fans are the reason the Dolphins haven't won a game in forever. No patience, no forethought...just a mob mentality and hatred. It's like watching a room full of ******ed apes figh over one banana when there's a bushell over in the corner.

if I recall correctly there were many threads on Sparano and how bad he was.... and before last year, the focus was on Henning...and Pasqualoni&the special teams coach and so on...
I don't think they got a pass for their mistakes

Yeah we have been blaming the coaching but that is over for now since we have replaced them, but since Ireland is making the present decisions that is why he Is receiving all the heat.
But a little off topic to the OP, holy sh!t you need to chill out you havent even been a member for a month yet and you have over 300 posts?! Jesus man go outside haha

I still think the nail in the coffin for last year was the lockout. While the offensive players appeared to be working out together, I never heard the same of the defense. Frankly it showed, the defense early on was in pitiful shape and it wasn't till the middle of the season when they regained form. It also precluded Moore from getting any meaningful snaps so when Henne went down, Moore wasn't even close to being ready.

definitely agree, the defense showed a lot of fatigue and in-cohesiveness in the beginning of the season. But once they got everything together we saw what they can be capable of, a great sign that they still finished in the top 10
