Like a series of foxtrot steps, the progression came quickly for Jason Taylor: from Dancing With the Stars to dining with the stars.

Among the rewards already reaped by the Miami Dolphins defensive end thanks to his Dancing success was a lunch date two weeks ago with Denzel Washington. They met at a sushi restaurant in Hollywood and spent 2 1/2 hours discussing football, acting and the similarities between the two.

"What an outstanding guy," Taylor says. "I lost track of time sitting there talking to him and ended up being an hour and a half late for dance rehearsal. My partner wasn't too happy."

Washington was on his way to a meeting with Al Pacino, and Taylor reluctantly declined an invitation to join them.

Maybe next time. All signs suggest Taylor's showbiz career is only beginning.

It won't end with this season's final episode of Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday. Taylor, one of the show's three finalists, will catch a redeye flight out of Los Angeles that night for an appearance Wednesday on Good Morning America and then Live With Regis and Kelly.

The 33-year-old Taylor says he'll put Hollywood on hold to play football this year, but it's unclear whether the Dolphins want to keep him, in part because his focus is increasingly drawn toward a movie career.

Dancing With the Stars accelerated the transition.

yay. another story on JT and hollywood. I really hope this gets wrapped up sometime soon though, im getting tired of hearing about it.

How cool would that be though to have lunch with Denzell Washington. He's one outstanding actor thats for sure. Who better than him and Al Pacino to help you break in.

Its really seeming more and more that my son is loosing his way... I don't know what to do. he just doesnt listen to me anymore!!! haha

JT knows that there is no way he can make 8 million in hollyweird this year, that seems to me to be the only reason why he would bother to come back for this season.

Sometimes when Im bored at work I read the gossip mags like the Enquirer and such, and almost every week there is something about JT doing this and that, hanging with this person, going to that bar. Bleh. As long as he puts in a good last season or two, or we get some trade value I guess.

Well, this is it. If we don't trade him to a contender, this is his last season in football. A lot of people could see that as being selfish, but the truth of the matter is he busted his behind for a long, long time for this team, and the team has been horrible for almost his entire career. It's not his fault we've been so bad, and for a guy who is a likely hall of famer, he can choose how he wants to go out.

I dont think Jason will have much of an acting career outside of supporting roles in cheesy action flicks or something..

I don't know about that. Denzell plays one role really well. Don't know if that qualifies him as an outstanding actor.

I for one am a little tired of all the JT talk; personally I'd like to see what Quentin Moses can bring to the table. I know Parcells was high on him when he first came to Miami. If JT plays for us this year, I'm good with that, but if his heart's not in it; I'd rather see him elsewhere.

Another slow news day.I reserve judgement until he states that he doesnt want to play football anymore .

Hollywood can wait IMO.Right now he is basking in the limelight .Who can blame him ?

IMO this will all pass and he will be back training at full speed soon enough.

The media is running out of things to talk about because it's starting to repeat itself. This is from an article posted the 5th by Dan le Batard.

Here's one example of why Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor literally doesn't have time for the fascinating tension gurgling atop the Dolphins organization between Miami's star boss and Miami's star employee:

The other day, Taylor rushed late to a lunch with Denzel Washington. Taylor's Dancing With the Stars partner kept texting him during that two-hour meal to remind Taylor he was late for rehearsal. So Taylor told Washington that, sorry, he couldn't go over to a nearby hotel to meet a waiting friend of Washington's who also wanted an audience with Taylor. That friend was Al Pacino.

    http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/521267.html

And I'd like to point out the line from NJFins article.

The HEAD COACH supports Taylor. As far as I'm concerned Parcells and Ireland go **** themself. Becasue If again the HEAD COACH has no problem with Taylor missing workouts then that's good enough for me.

Right, he's no different than the other professional athletes and wrestlers that have tried their hand at movies and failed miserably. Outside of The Rock, I can't think of one that has made an impact, and he was an actor to begin with in the WWF.

THe more I hear about JT, the more I am begining to realize he doesn't have the same attitude as Zach Thomas. Zach and JT busted their collective butts here for years. But, I seem to get the impression JT is forgetting their is no I in team. Zach knew that till the end of his dolphin tenure and is still acting professional. According to the latest article JT is miffed parcells is not juming on the phone to chase him down to chat him up. Jt's is under contract he should concentrating on football. If he wants to dance then retire and dance. If JT wants to talk to parcells goto the dolphins facility and when parcells gets around to it he'll talk to JT. What exactly does jt want to hear? I got some questions for JT. 1. why the hell are you dancing when you need to have your but in the facility getting to know your new team mates and developing a cemistry with them? 2. What exaclty is your commitment to football and the dolphins? When do you plan on coming back here? What do you think you owe fans who are dolphin fans first JT fans second? What exactly makes you think you deserve a ring? N one deserves any thing, you earn it. Get you butt in town and get to work. I don't care if you in better shape than if you were here, bs. Your mind in not on football. If you want to goto hollywood the just retire otherwise get you butt in town.

I agree. He's much to beastly in size to actually make a relatable character. I'd almost go as far as relating him to acting as Shaq is to being an undercover-police officer. But then again you could also relate him to Shaq acting too.

Jason's going to get opportunities in Hollywood that are available *now* in this momentum-oriented town. it would be a mistake for him to pass them up, in my opinion.

timing is important and it would be short-term thinking to take this year's $8 million instead of Hollywood's half-million or $1-2 million for whatever he does (especially if he wins.)

Sure *this* year he'd make less, but in the long run, if he can act at all, the opportunities to do shows and films will turn out well and lead to MORE opportunities... which would lead to years of work, not one or two seasons.

If he is serious about acting being his new career and his future, he has to take the best window of opportunity available to him.

If he had left Dancing with the Stars early on, then he'd have less 'heat' and buzz around him, thus fewer offers, and it would have made sense to return to football, happy that he'd progressed his contacts and recognition factor a bit.

But he's made the final, and most of America knows him now. This is the moment to get that ball rolling.

If jJason returns to football and Miami, he loses years of networking with people like Denzel and Pacino and everyone else out here. he also loses the 'flavor of the month' currency that could get him guest spots on major ABC shows like Desp. housewives, or other network shows like Ugly Betty, etc.

I expect Jason to retire before the season begins and to pursue his acting career.

I'm not happy about it, but that's what i think his agent and Jason are smart enough to know is the best long-term move.

JT doesn't win this competition. He's scheduled to appear on Live with Regis and Kelly on Wednesday morning. Their guide says that on Wednesday the second and third place couples appear and on Thursday the winners appear.

that is the exact same story as two weeks ago- except the actors were mixed up-- this is nothing new, just a reporter bringing something back up and re using it on a slow day.
