. ''Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State. It has been well chronicled that his age, 28, is a negative. This would influence my draft thinking and probably move him to the third round. When I watched tape of him, he played like a first-rounder. He plays in a spread offense. He has a smooth and fairly quick release. He has a strong enough arm and throws a very good deep ball with a nice touch. He also is very good at throwing the fade in the red zone. His accuracy is good, but he can be streaky. He shows good field vision and an ability to find the second receiver. I liked his poise. He is not very mobile and is not a threat as a runner. Should be a solid backup in the NFL.''

    wow..''third round..solid backup''..

''''Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M. He has only been the starting QB for the past year and half. I like him. He is very athletic. He can make plays running and passing the ball outside the pocket. He has a strong enough arm to throw the deep out, which is a measuring stick for me. He has played in a pro-style offense and operated behind center quite a bit, which puts him ahead of many college QBs. Despite his inexperience at the QB position he has shown me the ability to go through a progression of reading a defense. I have seen him on a number of occasions get to his second or third option. His accuracy is above average. I like his ability to throw deep. He needs some work on his ball placement with receivers even though I like his accuracy. At times, he pats the ball before he throws it. This telegraphs his throws. I did not see him make many "wow" throws, but it is possible I might not have seen the right games. Joe Flacco went No. 18 and Josh Freeman went No. 17 in the first round. I liked both of those QBs coming out, but I would rate Tannehill ahead of them.''

Sounds like that's more just Casserly being afraid of Weeden's age more than anything.

IMO, if Weeden were 22, instead of 28, the Redskins probably just traded up for him and not RGIII, just my opinion, but I think Weeden, if not for his age, is a better prospect than Griffin III. I think Miami is fine, from a football perspective, if they get either Tannehill or Weeden. Based on some of the banter on this board, Stephen Ross is going to have a tough time selling Tannehill or Weeden to the masses.

A month ago, I would've said hell yes to that. Now, I'm not so sure that Courtney Upshaw fits. In all likelihood, Miami's going to run a 4-3 Under style of defense, and based on the players Miami currently has, I'm not sure where Upshaw fits. He certainly wouldn't overtake Burnett at Will or Dansby at Mike, which leaves the Manny Lawson role left, based on Cincinnati's D last year. I think Koa Misi fits that perfectly as he's more of an athlete than Upshaw is. So that leaves the 4-3 end spots. I think Wake, despite his penchant for rushing from the defense's left, is better suited to take the weakside end spot (Michael Johnson's role in Cincinnati, and Wake played there in the CFL). Alen gave a great description in a PM of the role that the strongside end (Carlos Dunlap in Cincinnati for perspective) and you want a bigger, longer guy there - that's opposite of Upshaw, and Melvin Ingram for that matter, which is why I've been banging the drum for Mario Williams. So, for now, I'll scratch Upshaw off my list, even though I think he's a heckuva player.

For the 1st round, if Miami doesn't have Matt Flynn (or Peyton Manning), then I think Tannehill is the pick. I'm perfectly okay with that. If I were GM, I'd also consider Fletcher Cox, Dontari Poe, and Quinton Coples at 8. If Tannehill is off the board, then take one of those three and move back into round 1 for Weeden.

Right now, I guess my dream draft would be based off free agency. If Miami signs Mario Williams, then I'd want Tannehill at 8 and maybe hope/pray that someone like Coby Fleener or Mark Barron drops to Miami's pick in the 2nd round. If Miami ends up with Flynn, then I'd want one of the three between Cox, Coples, or Poe, and still hope and pray that Fleener and/or Barron fall, and I'd also consider guys like Kevin Zeitler, Kendall Reyes, Jerel Worthy, maybe Ta'amu Alameda (I probably butchered that spelling, but the big DT from Washington).

That's my two cents...I just wish Tuesday would hurry up and get here. And of course, my boss has me taking his place at a meeting until 7:30pm EST, so now I have to wait even longer for the fun to begin...

What's your take on the draft DJ? I think I've seen you banging the drum for Fleener as well.

Feltcher Cox and Fleener in the first two rounds with Flynn and Williams in Free Agency would be great.

Switch out Barron for Fleener, and to me, that's about as ideal as it gets. I think you can still get a quality TE like Ladarius Green or Kevin Koger later on. Not many other safeties as quality as Barron IMO.

In that case, move on from Bell, correct?

As long as we have a line that has Williams, Wake and Fletcher Cox, I'm happy.

Miami probably has to move on from Bell to get enough money for Williams.

Well Ro, Seeing that were switching to the 43, I'am looking for a true middle linebacker, now I believe Dansby can play it, but do I really want him to spend these next few years on the inside taking a pounding?, or do I want him on the outside using his instincts and playmaking ability..I choose the latter, so there are a couple of scenarios in play pending what QB we aquire, if it's Flynn, I'am looking at the total package Luke Kuechly, with his combination of instincts, brilliant footwork in traffic, size, rare coverage ability and damn nice athleticism and speed, I take him and put Dansby and Burnett on the outside, with Misi backing up all three positions {I think Misi has some middle backer potential}.This particular strategy continues by trying to get back into the first round to select Coby Fleener, cause I know he's not gonna last..I absolutely was in love with Gronkowski and said that we would consider him the best in the league in a few years, Coby is a player that I feel can have similar impact, I think he is a unique player because of his Size to speed/athleticism ratio, he's truly a gracefully explosive football player, so I would make a move back in the late first to aquire him, thus getting two players best at their positions..I really want two first round talents on this ballclub this year if I can..

The contingency plan with that 2nd pick is Dwayne Allen, one of the few players where I could care less what he did in his underwear, if other GM'S care, then that's their bad and our gain..He's really an excellent backup plan to Fleener, though different skillset, I'd like to match his value up at that early 2nd round pick with the other best players at their positions that would be available, I think Dwayne might win that comparison..

    Your friendly neighborhood superhero.

As for your post up top, I agree with your post but I'm not really a fan of Allen. How do you, or anyone for that matter, feel about Michael Egnew?

As a whole group, I don't feel great about this TE class. I honestly think Coby Fleener is the best one of the bunch. Dwayne Allen's tape is better than his combine performance...I mean, how could it not be? I think he's got the potential to be the best in this class of TEs, but I wouldn't trust him. I think Ladarius Green, if he can bulk up, can be like Jared Cook. I've only seen Egnew play a few times, didn't really come away all that impressed with him. But truthfully, I just haven't seen him enough to form a more solid opinion one way or another.

I think he is the definition of a specialist player, he's got speed and athleticism with good hands, so if your gonna have an offense that needs that element he would be a good fit, he can flex out all day, run routes and play pitch and catch, and he can do that at good size, in the 4th round he would have value to us.

There's a reason Charlie Caserly is a FORMER general manager. Bill Belichick is not a guy who badmouths anyone or breaks his stoic demeanor often but he did break it one time to basically say, talk to people around the league, Charlie Casserly is a joke.

I have heard some things like that, pretty strong words for a former hi level executive..amazing, the ascension and descension in the scouting industry and how it sometimes plays out..

He reminds me of when Rick Speilman was doing commentary, why do I wanna hear what this guy has to say? Dude reminds of the old scouting guys in the Money Ball movie, a dinosaur.

Well personally I rather like Casserly's take on players, but also know at the end of the day teams will do what they do.

He did draft David Carr and was really banging the table for Gabbert last year. Nuff said.

I gotta think if Flynn comes aboard our pick will be one of Coples, Ingram or Cox. We at least have players on the roster who can project to RT. Not sure if we have more than one pressure player.

I think more than anything we will look to trade down first. Ireland is really good at finding positions that represent value (in terms of BPA), position (in terms of where we draft them) and in terms need. Our biggest needs seem to be DE, DT, OL, WR. Those positions aren't great picking in the #8 slot in terms of value, but are really good in the mid-late teens and possibly into the 20's. I think more than anything we will trade back.
