Not really a huge fan of Tannenhill but if we draft him I certainly will support him and hope 100% that I'm wrong. If we are going to draft someone I would prefer moving back to a safe spot and drafting Weeden, simply because I believe if he is 22 you're talking about him being a top 5 pick with his physical talent.
I'm starting to lean towards giving Moore the starting nod. He isn't great by any means but played pretty well last year. He seems like a high energy guy and the team took to him last year. I think grabbing the best available WR in the 1st rd and picking up Foles or Russell in the 3-4th rd to compete with Moore. I'm really not big on Tannerhill and would rather give Moore or a later rd pick at QB the chance to start. If all else fails we do whatever we need to next year to grab Barkley and use this year as a chance to build in other key areas. The more I think about our remaining options at QB I just feel like the safest move this year is doing nothing drastic. Smith has some potntial but I'm not a big believer. Maybe at 2-4 million a year Smith on a one year deal makes a bit of sense but even then. Gerrard basically the same as Smith.....just injury prone. I think sticking with Moore and Drafting a late rd QB is just the best at this point. I know we are all anxious for a big move at QB but let's not allow desperation to leave us making bad choices. Finally, if it were me, I would give the reigns to Moore and hope he has a great year and proves his ability to be a good if not great QB. Meaning at a minimum we make the playoffs and Moore has a 20 td-10 int season, 60% comp. Those are not spectacular #'s but solid for sure. If he can do that, I think you hang on to him. If anything keep him as fallback for 2013 or competition for our new "franchise" QB Barkley....if we can manage to make that happen some how
Moore is a lot better than people give him credit for. He showed a lot of potential his first year in Carolina. His second season he battled injuries and just a terrible supporting cast and offensive gameplan around him. I think he could actually have some pretty decent success in a well run system with the right players around him.
I'd really like to go into the season with Matt Moore as the starter and Ryan Tannenhill as the #2. My 2nd option is to draft Brandon Weeden as the starter and have Matt Moore as the backup. At this point, I'm not interested in Alex Smith and his salary demands it'd take to get him in Miami, or the other FA QB's out there (Garrard).
Yep, I don't think Smith is much if any upgrade from Moore. Moore is better than Smith at an earlier stage in his career. Smith would prob want 6-8 million a year and that is just too much for him imo. I'm just not very high or interested in Tannerhill or Weeden. I would rather wait to spend a 1st rd on a better QB next year and draft a WR or OLB/DE with our 1st this year.
My choice doesn't matter Nor do I care much anymore. I've wasted two weeks of my life chasing the Manning dream and now Flynn. I may take a break from this site and the Dolphins until the season starts.
I have learned not to get too frustrated over the past few years. As much as it sucks, I'm too much of a football/Dolphins junkie to stop. I just hope we can turn the corner soon...
Right now I would say Alex Smith who fits in our system, and we won't have to wait until Moore learns this new system, which would probably take a few games to get comfortable with
After Manning and Flynn, who I would want to compete for the starting job, we have Moore who is eqaul to or better then the whole bunch of ones that are available. Our main problem now is even if we got Manning, who does he throw to ?
who cares anymore...i'm beatdown...i get that flynn could be a bust...who cares, they have to try...i dont want alex smith, he's no better or worse than Moore, Manning was a pipe dream and is Minny really going to trade with us so we can jump ahead of Cleveland and take Tannehill? doubt it...and don't get me started on Garrard...good news is, no team will need a qb next year and we can get Barkley. already looking forward to the 2013 draft
