Miami's free-agent shopping list Posted: Sunday December 16, 2007 08:09AM ET Top among Miami's list of players to chase in free agency should be Indianapolis safety Bob Sanders. So the Dolphins might look at either South Florida native Asante Samuel or Oakland's Nmamdi Asomugha as their game-changer at cornerback. That is the reason Tennessee's Albert Haynesworth glows in neon as a target. I want Asomugha or Trufant to be honest. I would take Asante but I think he will ask for too much. I dont want Haynesworth, hes a bum thats just decided to play good cause its his contract year. yea i think sanders would be a huge pickup...but i highly doubt that indy would let him go, he is their whole D...but him and yeremiah would be sick
Yeremiah Bell has no future with this team he is 30 years old with a torn achilles and to the OP I would like to see a link.
Bob Sanders is a nice Safety that has been doing it for more then one year. Probably will hit the market. Colts strapped for cash. Though they do know eventhough CBs are expendable in a Cover-2, Safeties are not. Nhamdi and Asante are both true CBs that have been doing their thing for years. The only one I see hitting the market though would be Asante Haynesworth, well lots of conversation on the Bills site about him too. And the thing I will say with him is WOW he can do it in a contract year. 4 years of nothing and now exploads, wow at the same time he needs to get paid.
Patrick Crayton and Flozell Adams are the ones I hope we target. Nmamdi Asomugha would be nice at a good price. But for me, Patrick and Flozell would be perfect.
we've got the money.. Jason Allen is doing fine, but ill take Bob Sanders, DeAngelo Hall (or Samuel or Asomugha if u have the money), and ill also take Albert Haynesworth and Max Starks. i see no reason why we cant afford it.
Asomugha would be at the top of my wish list there. Starks, not so much. He lost his starting job at the beginning of the year and only got it back due to injury. I'm not sure if he's an upgrade, especially considering the money FA OL get.
how bout we don't waste money on FAs. we aren't going to be competitive next year anyway. maybe 1 DL, 1 DB and 1 WR, but if we get a big name he has to be in the secondary for the next 5+ years.
well we have cap room and it would be stupid to waste it if their were good players on the market. the real tough one is getting players to want to play in miami.
What's to say that? If we sign a Samuel or Asomugha, a Haynesworth, maybe a wr and draft well it's entirely within reason we can be a solid team next year.
He signed an extension. But he would definately be nice here. Asomugha is the only FA I would really want. He's the only CB in the league right now that can cover Randy Moss. He's lanky, athletic, and fast just like Moss. Plus he knows Moss and his game. He knows what he does and doesn't like. Jordan Gross from Carolina would be nice too so that right side could be solidified. Asomugha and Gross are all that I ask for.
I hope you're being sarcastic. Most teams are lucky enough to land one big FA in the offseason, yet you're asking to sign the whole damn market? I'll tell you a reason why we can't afford it: We have a salary cap.
realistically... Trufant, Haynesworth on D...and if u really wanna spend, u can take that Williams guy (DT) from the Vikings. Patrick Crayton and Max Starks on O would be perfect. it would make our draft A WHOLE LOT EASIER. although unless many of u didnt know, Max Starks IS a backup Tackle, and im guessing maybe hes not as good as some us think? but drafting Trufant, we wouldnt need to draft a CB. im content with Will Allen and Michael Lehan behind Trufant. Im content with Soliai, Holliday, and Fifita behind Haynesworth. Im content with Ginn/LBooker/Crayton/Camarillo/Hagan id be pretty content with Max Starks at RT also. so no need to draft an OT, WR, CB, or WR real early.
The Colts have to resign Sanders and Clark, one of them will have to be let go IMO. Indianapolis is usually one of the teams that have very little cap to work with. If they let go if either, I think we should consider bringing them in.
I don't think we have the money for all that. I think if we want to go big on D, we can just have Trufant OR Haynesworth, not both. Personally I'd prefer to bring in Trufant then a WR such as Berrian, Johnson, or Crayton.
Crayton and either Haynesworth or Williams would be great. We could then draft Chris Long with our first pick and pick up a decent CB and guard in the 2nd round
You really think that's realistic? Wow. Do you know how much money we would have to have? You will be very disapointed if you expect us to sign 4 pretty expensive free agents. 2 is the most likely scenario right now. Unless we get rid of Zach, JT, Green, Booker, Shelton, and Traylor, your scenario is very unlikely. Plus, why would all those FAs want to sign here? Indianapolis does have to sign Sanders and Clark. I totally forgot about that. One of them will be let go, and I'm guessing it's going to be Clark. Their whole run D is built around Sanders. I don't know if Clark is as good as Manning makes him look though. Too bad Polomalu signed an extension last year. And just so everybody knows, both of the Williams on the Vikings are signed through at least 2010.
sorry but ur posts are gettinga nnoying. first of all, Colts can sign both n they said they will offer a Tag on one and sign the other to a contract. they dont wna let both go so they will tag one as it was said. SEcond, most teams dotn get 1 big name FA? do u keep up with the FA period? did u see waht NE did? what SF has done? what MIAMI did with Sabans first year? U can get AMNY MANY SOLID players to good players esp with the cap we have. Trufant? haynesworth? those 2 are BEYOND possible. look at the BS contract Holiday got n then we went n got Porter. thats 2 big names even tho holliday isnt and got overpriced like the typical jeno james and chamebrs type of money. Miami should go after Trufant, Haynesworth, and one of the nasty G's on the market if not 1 from the colts cuz they are very good at PASS protection which we have NONE OF.
Sorry but you don't know how to use a keyboard. Name me 10 teams last year that got 2 stud free agents. New England-who wouldn't want to go to New England? San Fransisco-they were seen as an up and coming team. An attractive site. Miami-we got 1 big free agent. A very expensive one too. Saban's first year....he got rid of Surtain and picked up Will Allen. He also got Kevin Carter. So that's basically picking up one. Haynesworth is going to want the bank after his "pro bowl" year. Trufant is a possibilty as well. I'm not saying it isn't possible to get FAs, but it's not easy knowing there are 31 other teams with money also, all that will have better records than us the previous season. So basically, you can PM me in the offseason when you see us sign 3 of the top 10 free agents. My name is the same on finheaven as it is here. What happened to the realistic, smart posters that posted on finheaven?
The Cowboys signed him to a longer Contract like last week i think is when they did it so yea there is no way we will get him unless we trade for him
Realistically, there's not a chance in hell the Titans let Haynesworth get away. He'll either be extended or franchised.
Exactly, looking at the other FA's...ugh really a mix of over-the-hill, role players, and never quite developed.
You don't build a great D-line through FA anyway. Teams don't let those types of players get away. You gotta hit on them in the draft.
so u thinik its impossible to get Lilja, trufant and hanyes? oo plz. U tlel me where the smart posters went genious.
The people in this thread have played way too much Madden to think most of their scenerios are possible.
Not gonna happen, Haynesworth will be franchised by the Titans and Lilja may be the most realistic possibility because I think Miami will go after Samuel or Asomough instead of Trufant.
thats not how i meant it n how me n miami were talking. it was about whether we can get hte players due to cap or not not about tags etc etc. i doubts about samuels b/c it says that htey feel he wont be good in man cov in miami as oppose to NE schemes. but what i dont get is...didnt miami switch to cover 2 hnece the release of madison? n so called trade of surtain although it was for money reasons as well. also, i see miami goin after Asomaough and Trufant (esp with Sea ties) more so then Samuels.plsu sam will want to break bank like Clements.
Any one of the big 3 corners (Samuels, Trufant, Asmougha) would be thrilling to get. Pass on Crazy Albert "contract year, face-stomper" Hayneworth. If Bob Sanders hits the market though .... #1 FA wish would be to bring him in. Guy is a monster, leader, player. He would upgrade us hugely, coupled with a DL draft pick will give us some young guns on defense finally. A nice WR would be good to grab as well. Crayton would be my choice, but someone here said he had been resigned, so if hes gone then Bryant Johnson. Another name I havent seen yet-Michael Turner. Guy would be fantastic spelling Ronnie, or more likely, carrying the load early on while Ronnie is still working back to 100%. OL-DL pass please, draft them. BTW, I think the Colts are in a big bind as Freeny is also a FA. They almost have to sign Dallas Clark (hes Mannings best friend on the team), which means they will only have money to throw at either Sanders or Freeny. I think they throw it at Sanders, but if not, man, we need to get him in Aqua.
Freeny isn't a free agent, they re-signed him before the season started and they will find a way to bring back both Clark and Sanders.
Clark and Sanders will be back trust me. 1 gets tagged one gets a contract thats number 1, 2, i doubt they go from SB champ team to an 1 and 15 team. SECOND, taht means both of their G's might hit the market and id be trhilled with scott or lilja.
