a QB who sucks for 6+ years and has one decent season against a QB who has won on every level in the big games and put up pretty amazing stats against 2 playoff teams...? give me matt flynn every day of the week and twice on sundays...

Both "playoff" teams had pretty horrible defenses.

Not to take anything away from Flynn, I hope we sign him to compete with Moore but come on lets not make it seem like he faced the Steel Curtain or the 2000 Ravens.

Well, those D's were only good enough to get both into the playoffs and one to the superbowl...I wouldn't call either one horrible. The fact of the matter is, albeit a short resume, it's impressive what Flynn got done...just sayin'...I don't know that he's the next Aaron Rodgers or Brat Favre in that offense, but could he be the next Matt Schaub or Matt Hasselback in that offense. It's not a given, but then even Manning has his detractors because of his health. About the only guys I haven't heard much negative about are Luck and RG3, but they are pretty much out of our reach. He is ready to take the next step in his development. How far that takes us is anyone guess, but more importantly, Philbin's best guess. MMoore is clearly at a disadvantage since he'll be learning a new offense along with the rest of the O. Tannehill, although schooled in a similar offense is not expected to jump in and start next season, at least at this point. Weeden is probably going to start wherever he goes but moreso because of his age and playing window and a different maturity level than most of the 22 yr old rookies have. Play-wise, he'll still be a rookie...

None of this is earth-shattering news or info you probably haven't seen/heard before, but do we have any better choices out there than what's on the table in front of us (if in fact, Flynn does sign with us)...

I don't mean what I'm about to say as a knock at all on Flynn.

Those teams got the playoffs in SPITE of their defenses. What you said is like if I said during the Marino era teams feared our running game because it was good enough to get us into the playoffs. In all actuality our running game didn't exist and those defenses were pretty much on par with that.

I'm not a Flynn hater, I hope we sign him and he wins the next seven superbowls. I'm just also trying to be realistic. His numbers would be great against any defense in those games but in reality they were pretty bad.

Are you insane? If the Dolphins could have signed Peyton Manning they wouldnt have pissed on MAtt Flynn if he was on fire. So whats your point? Smith is a better qb than MAtt Flynn. Matt Flynn has done NOTHING in this league. He couldnt beat out Jamarcus Russell when he was at LSU. He became the starter by default his senior year.

Over in club, there was a thought that Flynn's agent was asking for 60mil at the start. Can't confirm this is true.

he still put up the best numbers in a game in franchise history that even brett favre or aaron rodgers did not put up and this against a desperate detroit team that tried to win to not face the saints

So you saw Flynns two games? I guess you must have been a big fan of his. I think its more along the lines that you heard someone else mention that he had two good games and now he's your guy. You're just jumping on the Flynn bandwagon, youve never seen him play. I saw him play a lot in college, hes nothing special. He couldnt beat out Jamarcus Russell for Christs sake

Eric Crouch won the Heisman and was the best college player that year, how did he do in the pro's? Barry Sanders couldn't beat out Thurman Thomas in college.....

So ... Gerrard and Smith coming to town ... so much for the alleged "rumors" of a signing. Looks more like Bleacher Report rumors.

This is shaping up to be one of the longest, and potentially worst offseason in Dolphins history.. It's only March and these forums are in full swing.... I can't wait until we go OL in the first round...

Then it was 93 then. Either way he had a few good games, if I recall he got hurt and didn't even finish the season. We brought in Steve Deberg. Either way its just like the Flynn situation.
